I like fanfics in which one of the prominent canon characters is the central character, although I will read OC centric stories I don't like them as much. My favorite characters are villains who aren't pure evil and actually care about their allies or friends or those that have good goals and are ruthless in achieving them(as long as that goal isn't something completely insane like Pein's goal was). Also, I like it when characters have dark and tragic pasts.

Stories:

Shattered Fates: slight crossover with Bleach: the 3rd Phantom. Ichigo fails the Shattered Shaft, becomes a Hollow and escapes into Hueco Mundo and Arturo Plateado, one of the main villains of the game and the main villain of the game Bleach: Shattered Blades, escapes his fate and joins Aizen. Main pairing: Ichigo x undecided, likely Orihime. Being redone.

Naruto: Nine and Seven: Naruto takes his training with Jiraiya seriously and meets someone who shares his pain. Pairing: Naruto x Fuu. Strong Naruto and Fuu, not super or godlike. Remade as Naruto: Legends of Two Jinchuriki.

Naruto: Jinchuriki of the Six Paths: On the bridge in Wave, Naruto unlocks the Rinnegan. See how possessing the eyes of the creator of ninjutsu himself affects his fate. The pairing is Naruto x Fuu and Yugito.
