I love this story. I really like how they have the same personalities, but they are also different people because they have had different life experiences. I get a lot of chuckles from reading this.

Ok, so I have finished this and the return and have to say bravo! Enjoyed both stories so much and loved your take. I know Kakashi was sad and posted everyone but I was always curious about why he wasn’t involved with Naruto as a child. Like, he didn’t questioned his life. I feel like Kakashi wouldn’t be complete ass and leave him to be an orphan. Yeah, it helps the cheerful, happy hero persona with a tragic bg but I would of loved that Naruto had some type of emotional support. Also loved Anko! People often forget about her and loved how you wrote her. Overall,wonderful story! Hopeful for a final to the series but it’s all good.

Correct me if im wrong, but i believe Gai and Kakashi have been friends/rivals since childhood and even filled in as obito in their team. During the fight against two of the Edo Tensei seven ninja swordsman against Kakashi and Gai, Gai has a flashback of when they fought together in an old mission when Gai sacrificed himself to buy Rin and Kakashi time to escape. During the filler when Naruto is being escorted to the lightning country, Gai fights Kakashi because he thinks he is an enemy in disguise and he has a flashback of how they became rivals. If you don’t remember, Gai kept bugging Kakashi to fight him, when kakashi was reading his book on how to die as a shinobi because his father died recently. In the story it seems like they are mutual ninjas who have only met a few times. Other than that i’m enjoying the story.

you contradicted yourself between last chapter and this chapter. You stated last chapter that naruto's team had already gotten the scroll and we're heading for the exit before the fight with Orochimaru began. Hinata had no need to give them any scroll as naruto already had it. you even made a big deal out of it not being an illusion or anything and mentioned another team they had already fought as well. they wouldn't be headed to the pillar early if they didn't have the right scrolls. finally, you said 2 days had already passed before the fight with Orochimaru making it the third day. then you said it took them a day to recover.
this was a 3-day test.
if that is your time scale, everyone, not already in the tower had failed the exam. they failed it before the fight with sound even started. I ignored the time slippage last chapter but it seems really odd that you are making their pass of 2 exams now entirely dependant on Hinata when they are frankly stronger than their canon counterparts and you explicitly stated that they had the scroll and it was not a genjitsu last chapter. and somehow this fight took place after 3 days had already passed in a 3 day exam.
