This 'explanation' is quite silly.
The Uzumaki's are cousins of the Senju. It isn't unreasonable to think they have very similar/same chakra natures. The main difference is that the Senju are known as Ninjutsu masters... there's the Shodai, Nidaime and Tsunade, all exceptional with their chakra in certain ways. The Uzumaki by contrast have powerful lifeforce (more durable), have more chakra and seem to be sealing experts. But I digress...
There's no point in coming up with some fantasy story about Minato being a Senju relative. Naruto is already pretty much a Senju in canon. Tsunade is like his great-aunt or some shit. If their chakra isn't identical, it's pretty damn close.

The other thing is, awakening Mokuton this way makes little sense. If Naruto was going to awaken any bloodline ability, especially due to tampering by a Sharingan, it'd be the Rinnegan. Who is the only character in canon who has a Rinnegan (ignoring the recent garbage with Madara). It's Nagato... Uzumaki Nagato. And there's evidence that he only awakened it due to tampering by Madara with his Sharingan... ergo... your whole premise pretty much, except yours makes no sense.

Asides from that, I think Naruto's capabilities so far have been nothing short of ludicrous. Not only does he claim to be greater than the Shodaime in his first fight ever using Mokuton, he's actually somehow mastered a ton of abilities for it already... in like a day or two. At this rate he will be tossing the Juubi around like a chew toy by the end of the year.

Great story. Just watch out for consistency in the flow of plot, character development, and emotion. Your action can be more streamlined, but I'm not too great at writing action either, so I shouldn't be telling you to get better. Awesome work!

I'm pretty sure Mokuton is hereditary ... Naruto couldn't believably have this ability.

For the sake of this story, I'll accept it though, as it IS fanfiction.

I wish you had made Naruto a bit more intelligent. He's not this dumb.
