![]() Author has written 9 stories for Thirteen Reasons Why, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games. I love writing and I love writing fanfic; by no means do I think fanfic is a criticism of the original author in any sense of the word. To me, fanfic is a wonderful opportunity to explore the big 'What If's' that surround the work of so many wonderful authors. What if something happened differently, if one person acted differently, what would change? The world which they created can be changed and twisted with a single tweak or action and then the story runs away in an entirely different direction. That isn't to say that is how the author should have written it, it isn't. It is simply exploring all the possibilities and potentials in the world they have given us. With this in mind I try very, very hard to stick to book canon in all matters preceding my storyline where at all possible and if you find any errors, point them out to me as they will be entirely accidental. Accuracy matters. That said, I see book canon as being the word of God and then author notes or Pottermore or the like as 'secondary canon' and I will feel free to break against secondary canon as and where I please if it doesn't suit my own head-canon. Harry Potter I Did Nothing actually started as a one shot believe it or not and at 130,000 words it is complete which surprises even me. The basic thought behind it was that I understand why J.K Rowling had to have the adult characters missing things because the story is based around the children, however what would happen if the adults in the story actually acted like responsible adults. Minerva acting as the quick, stern and fair leader she really is rather than turning a blind eye to everything that goes on around her, Severus as a fully fleshed out 3D character with loves, hates and regrets as shown by the Deathly Hallows and then all the supporting adults; Filius, Pomona, Remus, Bathilda... All acting like actual adults. The difference is marked. THIS IS NOW COMPLETE ALTHOUGH I AM EDITING FROM THE START. Giving Up is a far darker look at what could have happened when Harry was pushed too far; year after year he was expected to be the Saviour, then he was hated, then he lost the person closest to him and is it really that unbelievable that a fifteen year old might break? This fic has a view of Dumbledore that more supports my own personal views of the character, but again focusses deeply on the characters around Harry as much as Harry himself. Major angst warning and significant triggers for those struggling with suicidal thoughts or self-harm. THIS IS NOW COMPLETE. Shards of Glass is a sister piece to Giving Up which is completely new. I have the idea to build it up as a series of character portrayals surrounding the suicide of the Boy Who Lived. Trigger warnings as above. The Return of a Riddle is an idea that hit me like a thunderstorm and wouldn't go away. Harry Potter got to the Chamber of Secrets too late and Tom Riddle returns from the diary, taking Ginny Weasley's life force to complement his own return. The possibilities for this are endless and we will have to see where it goes although I have a vague idea of where I want it to go, but that could change a significant amount by the end! Peevsey Could Have Told Them is a slightly tongue in cheek look at how much the castle's poltergeist could say, if only anyone bothered to ask. Thirteen Reasons Why Unlucky Thirteenth is the product of that: I couldn't get the image of Mr Porter out of my head, how he'd react when he got the tapes and the guilt that he must have already been dealing with. So Unlucky Thirteenth runs through Mr Porter receiving the tapes and then what he did next. It's probably one of the few large pieces of fanfiction I'll do. COMPLETE. Behind Bars is almost a spin off from that. It's a one shot of Bryce, a character I hated but for some reason had to write him up at the end. Perhaps because I needed to see him get his just desserts, maybe just because there was an aspect of his character in my head that I needed to get out into writing. COMPLETE. Hunger Games The Final Swallow is an accidental one-shot that came from my thoughts about the Gamesmaster and his final moments. COMPLETE. |
