Dumbledore is a coward...he makes other people take the risks he is not willing to take. Snape does the training because Dumbledore doesn't want to face Voldemort in Harry's mind, yet given that Harry hates Snape and worships Dumbledore, the process would have been much more effective if it came via Dumbledore.

Well, I’m not going to lie, I still think about this story sometimes. I love stories that explore Dumbledore more deeply than just “he’s good” or “he’s evil.” We’ve seen fewer and fewer of the good ones the last several years. It’s been dang near 15 years since the last update on this one, but I’m not giving up hope.

This is fascinating in the way it shows Albus and friends/Wizarding Britain down in the muck ever so foul reeking as the Pit of Despair but then manages to slowly reveal other facets to draw reason, meaning and even understanding if not forgiveness for said parties and their actions.

Seriously? What is Dumbles thinking? I think that 'Love-thing' for Harry sounds a little unhealthy to me.
I really feel sorry for Severus Snape, the way he is used and humiliated by Dumbledore. And for some reason not of the teachers seem to have a problem with it.

One just has to feel sorry for how Severus is treated. Great story, but you have been mixing up the words "hear" and "here" a few times.

I am rereading this story and it is as excellent as I remember it. It strikes me as so ironic that the conversation between Dumbledore and Snape about Harry as a "weapon" is the other way round in canon with Snape being the horrified one. Still, I suppose Dumbledore was very sure that Harry would not truly die. Anyway, thanks again for this great fic.

A fascinating read, and I'll certainly be checking out the other parts, but I have to say that Albus' internal statements about his feelings towards Harry seem to cross the line from familial love into a slightly creepier realm. He really came off as a sort of pedo stalker at points, especially (eww!) when he was debating what kind of pajamas to buy for Harry.
When you add in the pseudo-Riddle that seems to infest Albus, I have to say that it seems Harry would be better off with someone else looking after his welfare.
