Author has written 19 stories for Harry Potter, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VIII, Young Wizards, Pokémon, Tribe, and Kingdom Hearts. 24 October 2018 I've now been a member here for 17 years. Wow, time flies. Thank you to all the amazing authors that continue to write and share your stories with us. 8 October 2016 I've now been a member here for 15 years. Just wanted to note that, as nothing else has changed. 8 October 2015 I've been a member here for 14 years today. That's very close to half my life. I was a freshman in high school when I started reading, and attempting to write, fan fiction. It's been a very long time since I put more than a token effort into writing, and in couple weeks it will have been 10 years since the last time I posted any fiction here. Still though, I love fan fiction. I love the concept, authors having the imagination to take their favorite fictional universe and say "this was amazing . . . but what it this one thing went differently? Where would the story go then? Few of the authors I was reading 14 years ago are still writing today, but that's OK because there are always new authors just finding their voice. Thank you, all of you, I've had so much fun reading over the years. This has been, and will continue to be, one of the things I enjoy in life. 9 October 2012 I just noticed that according to the date at the top of this profile, I've been a member for 11 years as of yesterday. 11 years. Wow. 30 June 2012 It's been another two years, and a lot has changed in my life . . . but nothing has changed for me in the world of fan fiction. I still read quite a bit, but I write very little, and post none of it. I do still feel that all stories should include a disclaimer. That is all. 7 June 2010 (edited 18 June 2010) !!! Disclaimers !!!!! In my opinion, they should not be treated as optional. There may be legal issues involved, but to me that is secondary. No amount of disclaimers will prevent those that own our favorite creative properties from trying to stop us from writing (or at least posting) if they do not want us to. All it would take is a "cease and desist" letter to FFN. And you know what? What about those that are undecided? How would you feel if you'd spent the last year of your life writing a book, and after its published found that there are dozens of stories floating around the internet based on your work, but giving you no credit? Or for those in TV, it's not just been a year of their lives, but the budgets for many of these things are in the millions of dollars. You would be outraged if someone took your story, changed a little bit, and posted it without giving you any credit. So why do it to others? To me, it is about respect. If you respect the person that had the creativity to come up with your favorite tv show, book, movie, or video game; If you respect the people that had the vision to finance the making of the show, movie, or game or the publishing of the book: then please include a disclaimer! Even if all you care enough to do is say "Don't Own It" somewhere between the title and the story. Also please note that my argument is for the inclusion of disclaimers, NOT against authors that do not include one. It is not my intent to call you disrespectful if you choose not to include one. You may show that you respect the author in other ways, such as emulating their writing style or being faithful to their characters. I hope you do choose to include a disclaimer, but ultimately it is your choice. Ok, so it's likely that no one reads my profile. If anyone makes it to my user profile they probably click the hide button up in the corner so that they can find the stories faster. But I had to say this. 7 January 2010 Cleaned up my favorite stories list a bit. The vast majority of what I removed were unfinished stories last updated prior to January 2009. I figure if you haven't updated a story in a year, if it's not actually abandoned then it's close enough for me. One or two incomplete stories survived the cut due to authors that have at least communicated an intention to return to the story eventually. 12 September 2009 IMPORTANT NOTE: None of my stories have been updated since November 2005 . . . almost four years ago. Other than a few that were updated around that time, the most recent before that was two years prior. Please consider all my stories that are not complete as abandoned. I am not at all proud of my stories here. I have left them up out of respect for the few people that for some reason like the material, or in case anyone wants to adopt the idea of one of the stories. Back when I first started writing, my only qualification for posting something was "did I write it?" If I had an idea, I'd write and post it. Often, as soon as I finished a 'chapter', without any idea of what would happen in the next chapter, or even the story as a whole. That is not a good way to go about attempting to write a story. Now, I'm a different person. I am a different sort of author. I have in fact written a significant amount of fan fiction since I last posted. None of it has turned out to something that I felt deserved posting. Most of it, though maybe a higher quality writing, is still just a "one off scene" or a chapter that will never get a second chapter. Someday I will write something that I feel can be posted. Right now I am Beta Reading for 1 story . . . and have asked the author not to use my name, so no one comes from that story to see the poor quality of what I've actually posted. 07 June 2009 Well, the last time I updated my profile was November 2007, so this is long overdue. Except, nothing's really changed since then in terms of me and my fan fiction. I'm still not writing. I keep thinking that I will return to writing . . . in fact I have many stories that I have started but never get passed the first few paragraphs, and many more that never passed the stage of 'write the basic premise down in preparation to write'. All of my fics are up for adoption still . . . feel free to take what little I have written and extend it, or take the idea and start the story from scratch - just please give credit for my original work - and let me know so I can read what you come up with. |
