Author has written 22 stories for Harry Potter, Star Wars, Worm, Titanfall, and Kantai Collection. OK, so some people visit this page. I'm old enough to know better. Been in enough bad places to know better too. I write for stress relief and my own entertainment. I usually don't post here but recently I have been. OK, there is no easy way to put this, so here it is, sorry to be blunt, however it is time to get a few things out in the open. Dialog vs. narration There is some personal preference involved, as I get complaints both ways. I write so the story moves along at a good clip, for that I am assuming a couple things. First the reader knows enough about all canon involved that they have a clue what is going on. It is fan fiction after all, so wouldn't they? Second, I assume they don't want to read War and Peace, or to call me Ishmael, as I am knocking this stuff out, rather than choking some of the more irritating fucks at my work, or in my life, to death. Style, I has it. You have one you like. If this isn't meshing in my writing feel free to not read my stuff. At this point in my careen through this lens of the multiverse I probably am not going to change. Clichés, your point? FanFiction is the first word in the site title. Perhaps you have been misdirected or are operating under a misconception? Reviews pointing out my alleged flaws, by people who have no work posted; Have you ever heard that old saw 'those that can do, those that can't teach?' I actually read your reviews. If you point out something in a negative way I then immediately hit your name to look at your work. When you have none posted it makes you seem a trouble shooter. Your quality of work colors my opinion of your review in other words. Still probably incapable of change but who knows, I could grow. Perhaps in the way that you intend to mould me. I actually got that out without laughing. I'm not trying to get in your pants. Read it, don't, I could give a fuck. Some people like it, which makes me happier, writing it was all I needed out of it. If you have nothing posted you don't even have a glass house. That rock is going to hurt. I don't start posting until a story has been complete for a while. Then it gets drug from the vaults, looked over for spelling, some punctuation sprinkled through it, as people seem to want commas, commas everywhere, all the time, more commas, better commas, just do it! Which is a transposed upside down comma have you noticed? Then it gets posted a chapter at a time until it runs its course. I do not change content, other than happy to glad, as for me that is a slippery slope that leads to an unholy mess, that I then can't post. These seem to be snapshots in time of fleeting ideas. It is difficult, to say the least, to go back and recapture the whole process that led to it. You know, is it live, or is it Memorex. Or for you younger folks, the reason lip synching exist. Why mention this? Well I get all these reviews with all these suggestions. I appreciate them, really, and some of them are way good and will probably pop up in a story later, but not in the one you are hoping to see them in, unless they already occurred to me. I do try to give credit when and where appropriate. I'm getting older though so the memory isn't what it used to be. Grammar Nazi's, I am not a professional writer of fiction. Surprise! I write technical papers however, some, every once in a while. Neither am I, apparently, one of the great writers of our time. Shocking I know. If its to much for you, please feel free to move on with no obligation to rant. Especially if your rant is wrong. In other words check yourself before you wreck yourself, because if I am in a mood I will call you out Drag Drug. Usually in a PM but sometimes in a counter review. Never yet in an author note. Sex scenes. Its a quandary. Some want more, some want less, some want porn, some want church lady porn. I can go all out, nasty, smelly, sweaty, tequila fueled, regret making. However the sites posting rules seem to preclude it. Leadership is doing the right thing even when no one is looking, right? Not, it was fine until I got caught. I don't know, maybe I am showing my age or training. If you are an American or western European, the world outside of your house, city, county, state and country is a nasty, cruel place. For some of the aforementioned it is as well. Generally though, other people have made it that way for you. I made my living and supported my family by forcing nature, red in tooth and claw, to follow some rules, at gunpoint. I have seen breathtaking things, heartrending things, things that make you despair for the species, and give you hope for the future, sometimes in the same five to fifteen round burst. Until you have been to forty seven countries, and forty nine of fifty states, and spent some time in the bottom of ditches wondering if you pissed yourself or if that is blood, you might want to check with someone, besides your professor who has been your neighbor his or her whole life, Horatio. Because they have the job doesn't make them, or the books they wrote correct. Or all our books would be really old right, probably in Greek, maybe ancient Han? Free your mind from the shackles of conformity with either fringe. Be a skeptic, especially of your own fervently held opinions. A new interesting thing. I write for people to read, not machines, or it would be 0100100101000100010010101100011. If your review is based on your machines reading, you are not differently abled, and you have not read the story yourself send it to the people who made the text to speech program because I couldn't give a fuck. How fucking lazy can you get? Being impatient and having your device read it to you in the car on the way to and from work, ok but then read it yourself. Don't complain to me about your machines bullshit. |
