I just recently noticed the story with the new update, and I honestly loved the concept from the start, you serious take on a "pre-naruto" Kurama is amazing and doesn't make him a misunderstood teddy bear like most others start with, he was indeed tortured for years in Kushina's seal, and also manipulated by the Sharingan, but he does have plenty of valid reasons to hate the Uchiha and Konoha.

About the development of Kurama, its interesting how you made him change really slowly with him not even noticing or trying to understand the reasons for some of his actions, how he always seems to have a motive to save Asuma, Ino and Choji, how he feels like Anko is a kindred spirit, and how despite trying to manipulate everyone, he still takes into account the opinion of said people first.

Other thing that I really like about your concept, is that you are not afraid to affect Canon in small and big ways from the start till now, from Teuchi and Ayame's fate, to the current teams, and how the different missions affect the cast, at this point I can honestly say that its true Naruto's team is the strongest Genin Team around, maybe comparing it to Neji's and Gaara's, and that's a big accomplishment for a 7 month Team.

Now I am really hoping to see more interactions between team Asuma, and you really made him a good Jonin/Sensei to them, maybe add a few more personal training to the Genin, but compared to Kakashi or Kurenai who both took their time to train their Genin, he is excellent.

And about Ino and Choji, both are developing nicely as characters, and even if Kurama was mostly manipulating them, he did make them stronger and just like Ino is beginning to notice, his training did save their lives during the Wave Mission, and he personally protected Ino against Haku, at this rate I would think Ino to be the main pairing for Kurama, considering that she does have one of the few ways to enter his mindscape and learn about the truth of Kurama/Naruto's past. Choji on the other hand is slowly but surely becoming a great teammate, he is leagues above his Canon-Self, and his clan does have an amazing Taijutsu potential, he could really become an immovable tank with the proper training.

It is also interesting to see that neither Ino nor Choji seem to be relying on their Clan Jutsu exclusively like in Canon, both have stronger Taijutsu, Shuriken and Kunai handling and are in general better than in Canon, even Water Walking make the Genin much stronger. But it would still be nice to see either use a little of their Clan Jutsu during the exams, if only to compare their development in that area.

About the Chunin Exams, I hope you consider avoiding most of Canon for Naruto's team, no encounter with Orochimaru, Sound/Ame/Kabuto Teams, etc. It would make for an interesting tale to see their unique enemies during the second phase.

It is also interesting to see the perspective and changes from Canon as seen by other characters, like Asuma and Kurenai's date, or Shikamaru thoughts about his team placement, it does in fact make some sense to have the worse of the Clan Heirs with the team with the strongest academy students, but I doubt the fact that Ino would accept to "abandon" her current team if she becomes Chunin, she is an interesting character and is already investing on learning the truth about Naruto, she also didn't have the "best" relationship with Shikamaru during her academy days, in Choji's case is different, he could form a new team with Shikamaru if he doesn't become a Chunin, because it wouldn't be a betrayal to Asuma, Ino or Naruto. But I honestly expect it not to happen regardless of any of their promotions to Chunin, even if Kurama's goal was always to go Chunin and leave his team, at this point I don't think he will, maybe even create a "lame" excuse to stay, because even Kurama in Canon wan't immune to forming bonds, and 7 months with Asuma's team is plenty of time for that.

It's so nice to see an update! If you truly don't have an interest in this fic, you don't have to continue it. Personally, I love this fic lots and have reread it multiple times in your absence! I hope you are doing well, and I hope you continue to have the urge to write!

Kurama is such an interesting character, and it's a surprise that not many people have decided to go the possession route! Man, if you do continue this fic, I can't wait to read about how "Naruto" will react to Gaara! I feel so bad for Iruka...

And yeah, Boruto really isn't my cup of tea. After a while, I got bored of the reused character archetypes and trips that were excused with "Reincarnation" and "Prophecy." Because wow, Boruto is such a copy and paste of Naruto that I get bored even as they introduce the more interesting characters. That and Anko somehow became a housewife? haha oh well.

Put this on my fav list back in 2016 just because I love this premise and it is really hard to find well written stories that are not dead. Nice that you are talking about the eight gates as few stories ever cover them in an detail outside of Lee or Gai using them. Looking forward to this story going into the chunin exam portion and how Kurama will interact with Gaara if at all.

Just a couple of days ago I got into a bit of a Naruto nostalgia and ended up re-reading a couple of my favourite stories, this being one among them, though I had no hopes to be continued after so long.
So you can imagine the surprise a few days to see an update. A weird but a welcome coincidence.
Glad to see you're continuing this. Careful about social media tough, especially twitter, social media addiction is a very serious mental illness these days.

I only recently came upon this story but gobbled up the whole thing in just a few days. I liked it a lot. I hope you continue it, because like you I want nothing to do with Boruto, but still like being immersed in the narutoverse.
