THIS IS A RANT (yet another one) AGAINST THE "CIVILIAN COUNCIL"!

Dear Naruto fanfiction authors.

Stop using this sorry ass retarded excuse of a plot point to justify a counter-power to the Hokage.

Let's ignore that it is NOT CANON and focus on four points:

It DOES NOT make sense economically. Stop saying that the civilians form the backbone of Konoha's economy. That is not true. The NINJA village's main source of revenue is... can you guess it... NINJA MISSIONS!!!

It DOES NOT make sense politically. The ninja clans are the ones who hold power and riches. Actually, the idea that there is any important commercial ventures in Konoha independent from a major clan is utterly retarded. They are ninja, not stupid: the clans know they need food, clothes, and so on and they obviously have secured those resources for themselves and obviously have control over their exploitation/production.

It DOES NOT make sense historically. Konoha was founded by... do you remember... two NINJA CLANS!!! Civilians were ALLOWED to settle in Konoha where they could hope to find a stable environment to live their life.

It DOES NOT make sense at all. If they are a COUNCIL, their only fucking power is to... COUNSEL!!! Neither the Hokage nor the clans would allow mere civilians to gather any amount of influence: that would simply be dangerous for their activity as ninjas. AND NO, the Kyuubi incident is not a valid reason: again, The clans are the one who holds the riches.

Let me repeat it: the civilians are absolutely NOWHERE in the scale of Konoha's power balance. NOWHERE. Repeat after me: NO.WHERE.

You used the "civilian council" AND you gave them actual decision power/enough influence to be a counter-power to the Hokage? Well, let me tell you that you went full-retard. If a had two slices of bread I'd put your head in-between them and make an idiot-sandwich. NEVER go full-retard. DO NOT use the civilian council.

This is another reflection on a fandom trope I don't get, namely:

"If Naruto's identity/status is known, he will be assassinated. Hence why we don't tell anything to Naruto, first concerned and last to know."

Let's begin with the "Mysterious Death of the Senju Clan."

Why did these guys all die? They were supposedly a powerful clan in term of numbers and skills yet only Tsunade is left. The easy answer is, they were targeted.

But why? Because of Hashirama's reputation? Honestly, Madara was just as feared, maybe even more because he was known as ruthless, contrary to Hashirama. Yet, the Uchiha clan wasn't targeted, even though their blue shirt with the war fan on the back makes them very easily recognized. So, no, the Senju weren't specifically targeted for their name, it wouldn't make sense as far as worldbuilding goes. Hell, Tsunade Senju, the known granddaughter of Hashirama was trained by the Sandaime Hokage. If anything, THAT should have made her an instant target yet she wasn't assassinated while young and defenceless.

So Naruto targeted for being Minato's son? I don't believe it, it's simply completely inconsistent. Sure Minato was an army killer. Whatever that means because, frankly, ALL the Hokage freakin' were so meh. You don't see Asuma or Konohamaru being targeted for being Sarutobi.

If anything, giving Naruto the name Uzumaki, a clan that was probably genocided for their ability in fuinjutsu, should make him a target. Kumo already tried to kidnap Kushina. Strangely enough, they didn't try anything with Naruto (who, as a male, would be much more efficient to breed Uzumaki). Wow, what a lucky coincidence, huh?

But let's ignore the shitty wobbly worldbuilding and assume that indeed, for reasons that aren't real, Naruto would be a target.

Then either there are no spies in Konoha or it's actually not that easy to infiltrate Konoha. Demonstration.

First possibility: there are spies in Konoha. Maybe they infiltrated the village long before the Kyuubi incident, maybe they infiltrated it during the period of time when it was an absolute mess, maybe they got in slightly after. It doesn't matter. Very quickly, the true identity of Naruto is revealed. The Sandaime must explicitly make a law that forbids to speak of it. If he has to do that, you can bet every spy already in Konoha ALREADY FUCKING KNOW WHAT NARUTO IS ANYWAY!

The fact Naruto is alive and well is proof that either it's impossible to organize an operation to capture him or that they all failed. In this case, it's SAFE and Naruto can know.

Second possibility: there are no spies in Konoha. Because Konoha is a ninja village and it isn't easy to infiltrate it. Proof of that would be Kumo trying the Hinata abduction mission under the guise of a diplomatic mission; there was simply no other way. Here, they don't know about Naruto anyway.

In this case, it's SAFE and Naruto can know.

In conclusion:

IT'S SAFE AND NARUTO CAN KNOW.

So let's stop giving that as a valid excuse for Sarutobi, please. Don't get me wrong, we can use it as a justification. It is simply NOT a good one.

(This is, of course, entirely based on CANON. It becomes a valid excuse if you worldbuild coherently around it: the Senju were indeed targeted, so were the Uchiha, so were the Sarutobi and so on and so on...)

Those are honestly personal rants that are uninteresting to read but I spent time writing and actually proofreading them, so Imma keep them. The second one is actually specific to the Naruto Experiment.

One. The Bullshito Sharingan.

At first, pretty much like everyone else, I liked the Sharingan. It has a cool design, with its red-coloured iris and the (ultimately) three tomoe spinning around the pupil. It has cool powers, perfect for a ninja. In a single glance, a Sharingan user can consign a face to memory, remember an important document, or steal a jutsu. It is the thief eye, the spy eye, the assassin eye.

The downsides are pretty cool. Yes, it allows you to see in slow motion but if your reaction time is not up to date, you can't do shit. If you fight an opponent whose sheer speed is superior to yours, you can't do shit. Yes, it allows you to steal jutsu but ultimately only those that are cast the classical way: molding the chakra through hand-signs. If your opponent doesn't use hand-signs or use one-handed hand-signs, well you can't do shit.

So ultimately, some things are straight impossible and some require training. It was an edge over people but not an absolute one: with enough hard work, one without Sharingan could become equal to, even surpass one with Sharingan. Fair enough right?

Then it morphed into the ultimate swiss army knife and I came to greatly dislike the Bullshito Sharingan. Just having the eyes means free access to frankly overpowered jutsu without the need for training. It was used as the ultimate shitty plot device to give Sasuke undeserved power-ups without having to work for it. Seriously, firing lasers and summoning war gods? What's next, rewriting your own death? ... Oh, come on!

The original message, "the Sharingan is a good tool for some situations but it's not the answer to everything and training CANNOT be overlooked", was lost in oblivion as the Bullshito Sharingan gave its users bullshit abilities for free.

Bullshit abilities without any drawback, might I add. The progressive blindness is not a drawback. First, it can be straight-up avoided by transplantation, giving birth to the Ultimate Bullshito Sharingan. Second, the progressive blindness effect has no consistency from one user to the other. Itachi, who uses Amaterasu sparingly, is almost blind. Obito, who spams Kamui like a bitch, does not suffer. Why? Both abilities stem from the Bullshito Sharingan. Both abilities are frankly equivalent in rank. Who am I kidding, Kamui is way stronger than Amaterasu. And yet, Kamui has no drawback while Amaterasu makes you blind. Kotoamatsukami can be used once every ten years, Kamui once every second. Why is there such an unbalance? Shitty plot device, that's the answer.

What does it mean regarding my story? It means those shitty plot devices will NOT exist. I don't know yet how I will handle the Amaterasu, Susanoo, and so on and if they will even exist but if they do, they certainly won't be free. They will either come from training and in this case, everyone will potentially be able to learn them, even non-Sharingan users or they will still come from the eyes, either after intense, hellish training or for free and in this case, the bill will be an absolute bitch.

TL;DR: do not expect the inner working of the Bullshito Sharingan in my fic to be remotely similar to canon.

Two. The Kyuubi.

Kyuubi is entirely sealed in Naruto, Yin, Yang, Love, and Fury. Period. The reason one half is sealed in the death god in canon is, you guessed it, shitty plot device. No seriously, the only reason for it is a Minato Naruto reunion through Bullshito Tensei. Absolutely unneeded, except for a long-ass, boring, redundant, and ultimately pointless fight. No thank you.

TL;DR: can't make it shorter. Read.

Here is a possible, AU-ish chronology of events in Naruto, from Hiruzen Sarutobi POV. Feel free to use it and modify it in your own story if you require a timeline, just be cool and give credits where it is due. K.F means Konoha Founding. (Ignore the eventual OC. It is AU-ish so some ages are changed, modify it to your convenience.)

K.F 0 -12 y.o Konohagakure no Sato is created.

K.F 10 -2 y.o Hashirama battles Madara.

K.F 18 6 y.o Hiruzen graduates, team Tobirama.

K.F 28 10 y.o Tobirama becomes Hokage. Hashirama dies (???)

K.F 33 15 y.o Start 1rst War.

K.F 36 18 y.o Hiruzen Sarutobi becomes Hokage. End 1rst War.

K.F 37 19 y.o Take genin. Sannin 6 y.o

K.F 41 23 y.o Birth 1rst son, Sora. Sannin 10 y.o

K.F 45 27 y.o Birth 2nd son, Taiga. Sannin 14 y.o, team Hiruzen disbanded.

K.F 48 30 y.o Start 2nd War. Sannin 17 y.o
