your making this story more painful to eight than it needs to be. this whole arc should have been one long chapter this is way too much filler writing and drawing out fights. streamline this thing and get the plot moving.

I like what you've written so far. This is probably tge best version of Asuma I've seen so far. His canon personality is intact, but you've fleshed him out even more through his relationships with his brother, his approach to training his team and his strength as a leader. And I greatly enjoyed his character arc and how well it was executed.

I also like how you've written Chouji, since like Asuma, he's also an underused character who nonetheless has a decent amount of potential and you've captured his essence pretty well. Same goes for Naruto and Hinata, thiugh they're a lot more popular, of course.

The various explanations you gave to clarify how various parts of the setting's systems work were neatly handled, too (e.g. the Byakugan, shadow clone memories). It fits neatly with what we know from the setting without falling into the temptation of exploiting a loophole for your own benefit.

Finally, I wanted to mention how the databook justifies your team choices. They give the grades for each of the rookies: Sasuke, Ino and Shino have the highest grades (Ino has a slightly higher grade than Sasuke because Sasuke has an F in teamwork and she doesn't), Naruto is dead last, and the others are somewhere in the middle.

In any case, I've enjoyed what you've written and I look forward to what you've got in store.
