I did not mean to be away from this story for so long. I'm sorry it took me months to do so, but I hit a point where I got both writer's block (hey, my name finally affects me) and lack of inspiration for a time. I was stuck in the first part of this for a long time and couldn't figure out a way to continue to the rest of the chapter. However, thanks to a guest reviewer's suggestion on here, I found the inspiration and motivation to get this back out. To those of you still reading, thank you for being patient - it means a lot.

A few conversations take place between the Daxam Four, there's a quick visit to Earth-38, and Thea and Winn bond over not liking safe houses.

Oliver Queen

Oliver sighed when he heard a knock on his office door. "Come in," he called, pinching the bridge of his nose.

The door opened, and a familiar brunette head poked in. "Hey," Barry smiled sheepishly, stepping inside and closing the door behind him. "I'd ask how you're doing, but . . . "

"Yeah, you can probably guess," Oliver put his pen down. "Grateful for the distraction, though."

"Well, happy to be a distraction," Barry smiled, walking over. "So, I warned Joe and Julian back in Central City."

"Let me guess," Oliver raised an eyebrow as his friend sat across from him. "Joe isn't happy."

"That would be an understatement."

"Well, considering his son has been taken by my villain and his daughter could be in danger of it, too," Oliver sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"True," Barry tilted his head side to side. "But considering all the times you've helped me when I've asked, he'll just have to deal with me helping you for once."

Oliver raised an eyebrow. "Digger Harkness. The League of Assassins."

"Rainbow Raider," Barry countered. "Thawne. Cisco and I brought you in to deal with Vandal Savage. You and your team came to help with the Dominators. You figured out who Savitar was in less than an hour. Man, I have a fair bit to pay you back for. Besides, he's messing with my team, too. I'm helping anyway."

Oliver chuckled, unable to keep from smiling. "Well, thank you, Barry."

"No problem," Barry smiled back. "What kind of friend would I be if I didn't help?"

Oliver raised an eyebrow. "A friend with a very good reason not to help."

"I'd be an asshole of a friend because it's not just my team on the line," Barry retorted. "Chase thinks I'm in his way to get to you. If he thinks taking my team is going to get me out of his way, he's completely wrong. If anything, he's just giving me a reason to punch him in the face even more."

Oliver shook his head, grinning. "Get in line."

"How about I'll punch him and leave him for you to finish off."

Oliver snorted. "He's got Lena and two of the Steins. I'd say Kara and Sara get to punch him, too."

Barry nodded thoughtfully. "Good point. There wouldn't be much left of him to finish off when he gets to you."

Oliver palmed his face, mainly just to hide the smile growing wider. "Barry."

"Yes?"

"You're really good at being a distraction."

"Should I stop, then?" Barry grinned back.

"If I need another distraction, I guess I know who to call," Oliver chuckled. "Thank you, Barry."

"Any time," Barry smiled, standing up from his seat. "We'll get our friends back, Ollie. I promise."

"I know," Oliver nodded.

Kara Danvers/Sara Lance

Kara rubbed her forehead as she walked into the Waverider galley, pausing when she saw the lone figure at the table. "How did I know you would be here?" she sighed.

"Super hearing?" Sara deadpanned, swirling her scotch around.

"Or you're like my sister," Kara walked over.

"What a compliment."

Kara stopped, frowning. "I hope that wasn't sarcasm."

"Depends," Sara held up her glass. "If it's being a badass, it's totally a compliment. The drinking? Not so much."

"OK," Kara used her super speed to get to Sara and take her glass away. "I'll take that, then."

Sara slowly blinked, staring at her now empty hand, then glared at Kara. "I just faced the evil doppelgänger of my deceased sister. I can have a drink."

Kara eyed the bottle of scotch on the counter. "A drink?"

" . . . OK, I may have had more than one."

Kara sighed, putting Sara's glass by the bottle, then sat down next to Sara. "It's hard to face someone who has the same face as a person you loved."

Sara flinched. "Mon-El," she guessed.

Kara, too, flinched at the name. "Someone else, actually," she said slowly. "My mother had a twin sister. A general in the Military Guild. My aunt Astra. She and her husband, Non, were sentenced to Fort Rozz by my mother. And when my pod left the Phantom Zone, it dragged Fort Rozz with it. This was the same woman who told me that she couldn't love a child more unless Rao granted her one of her own . . . and Aunt Astra wanted to use a program called Myriad to take control of the planet. She may not have been my mother's doppelgänger from another Earth, but it's unnerving to see a face you love on the opposite side."

"Really unnerving," Sara agreed softly.

"I know she's not your Laurel," Kara took her hand. "I don't know what she was like, but I know that much. That doesn't mean you can't try to get through to her."

Sara ducked her head, looking at the table. "And if she doesn't want me to?"

Kara bit her lip. "Then it's up to you."

Sara nodded silently, not saying anything else, but Kara remained with her anyway.

Clark Kent

The radio silence from National City was unnerving enough. It was rare that no updates of any kind were sent his way, which put him on edge already.

Then televisions were broadcasting a huge, silver-armored being running at superhuman speeds with white lightning of all things following him, and not only was Supergirl fighting him, but so were two speedsters with yellow lightning, a burning man, a man who could turn to steel, and the Martian Manhunter. The last straw was when the news broadcasted that Lena Luthor was discovered missing.

If alarm bells hadn't been going off in Clark Kent's head already, they would be wailing now. "What is going on in National City?" Lois asked in shock, leaning against Clark's desk as they watched the report on Lena.

"I don't know," Clark clenched his fist, feeling his eyes start to burn. He closed them, taking a few calming breaths. "I thought maybe they were working a case and didn't have the time to tell me anything, but this . . . " He trailed off, unable to finish his thought. Never in his life had he seen anything like the fight he had seen between speedsters. That silver-armored speedster had been ridiculously fast.

Lois seemed to understand, putting her hand on his shoulder. "Call James, or go to National yourself," she advised. "Find out what's going on."

Clark did just that, reaching over for his desk phone. It only took a few seconds to dial his friend's number, still looking up at the news. The phone rang once before James picked up. "Clark," he said, sounding exhausted.

"James, what's going on in National City?" Clark asked, cutting right to the chase.

There was silence for a second, then James asked in surprise, "You don't know?"

"No, I don't," Clark seethed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "All I know is there was some speedster in the streets and suddenly Lena Luthor is missing."

A heavy sigh came from the other end of the phone. "Man, I'm sorry. I thought for sure J'onn would have let you know."

Clark closed his eyes. "James, how bad is this?" There was silence for a longer time, and Clark frowned. "Jimmy?"

"I just sent something to J'onn," James told him. "Can you meet at the Fortress? In fact, you and Lois, if you can. She might get dragged into this, too."

Clark was already standing from his desk. "We'll be there."

Clark Kent

The English translation of Kryptonese flickered ominously in the Fortress for Clark and Lois to read, the hum of the console the only sound. "Oh, my God," Lois finally breathed.

"This was originally locked in such a way that only yourself and Kara could have opened it," J'onn said from behind the two, James and Maggie in parkas on either side of him. "When I got a message that a breach opened here, I came as fast as I could. I found this unlocked."

"The Daxam Four," Clark shook his head. "I've never heard of it."

"Believe me, Kara hadn't, either," James shook his head.

"So Mon-El toyed with my cousin's feelings and deceived her for months, only to turn on her the moment his parents showed themselves and came for him?" Clark asked, turning to look at them.

"Almost immediately," James corrected.

Clark closed his eyes, looking down as Lois put a hand on his shoulder. "Oh, no."

"There wasn't anything you could have done, Clark," J'onn stepped forward. "Everything happened so quickly, without warning."

"You could have told me the moment Mon-El betrayed Kara," Clark gave him a look. "You could have told me she was no longer on this Earth."

"Still processing the multiverse is real," Lois mumbled.

"So am I," Maggie snorted. "And I'm the one who saw Alex fight with several vigilantes from wherever they are."

"I think Barry called it Earth-1," James tilted his head thoughtfully.

"And we have no way to contact her?" Clark looked at J'onn.

"No," the Martian sighed heavily.

Clark gritted his teeth in frustration. "I don't like this."

"None of us do," Maggie shook her head.

"All we can do is be prepared when Kara needs us to be," J'onn said.

Oliver Queen/Kara Danvers

Oliver looked up from his paperwork when he heard his office phone beep, and he reached over, pressing the button to connect him to his secretary. "Yeah?" he asked.

"Mr. Mayor, you have a visitor," Becky said. "A Kara Danvers."

Oliver blinked, but smiled to himself. "Let her in."

A few seconds later, Kara sheepishly came through the door, two coffee cups in her hands. "If I'm interrupting something, I have a peace offering?" she held up one of the cups.

Oliver laughed, gesturing her over as he stood. "You and Barry have been enough good distractions today, Kara, you're not interrupting."

"Oh, good," Kara sighed in relief, walking over and giving him his cup. "I asked Sara if she knew what your go-to was. She seemed very happy I asked, for some reason."

"Thea," Oliver rolled his eyes fondly, taking a drink and walking around his desk to join Kara. "Is something wrong?"

"I'm getting bored."

Oliver blinked, looking at her. "Come again?"

"I know," Kara hung her head. "I shouldn't be saying that, but I've been keeping an eye on Winn, Thea, and Quentin and trying to find everyone else, and it's annoying me that nothing's happened."

"You can always help with the city," Oliver pointed out.

"But it's your city," Kara countered.

Oliver smirked. "You have your cousin, don't you?"

Kara blinked, surprised by the non sequitur. "Yeah."

"Do you give each other that statement whenever you meet up?"

Kara smiled fondly. "Not really, no. We've only had two big team-ups since I became Supergirl, and they were literally back to back."

"What happened to cause that?" he asked curiously.

"The first time?" Kara smiled. "Plane engine explosion live on camera with the reporters in our cities hoping we would show up. It's when I met Lena, actually – she was the target even though she wasn't on the plane. Then we had our first interaction with Cadmus."

Oliver nodded, grimacing when he heard the name of the organization. "That couldn't have been fun."

"Cadmus? No," Kara shook her head. "But I got to work with him, spend more time with him. That meant the most to me."

Oliver looked over at her. "You miss him."

"I miss everyone," Kara sighed, shoulders slumping. "I miss being at CatCo with James, I miss seeing Maggie at the alien bar, I miss teaming up with J'onn against aliens . . . " She closed her eyes. "I miss the last person from Krypton with my blood," she swallowed.

Oliver cautiously put his arm around her shoulders, and he felt Kara jump before she leaned against him. "You'll see them again," he said quietly. "You're not staying here forever."

"I know," Kara leaned her head on his shoulder. "Thank you for letting me get to Lena. I'm happy she's here."

Oliver scoffed. "Even though within a few days, she was abducted by my former D.A. who's actually a psychopath?"

"Hey," Kara lifted her head off his shoulder and pointed at him. "That is not your fault. How were you supposed to know Chase would come for our teams?"

"I should have," Oliver grumbled.

He winced when Kara smacked him on the shoulder, putting a bit of her super strength into it. "You're not all-knowing, Oliver," she told him. "You don't have to know everything. You're not mentally connected to Chase."

Oliver sighed, looking at a random spot on the wall. "Sometimes it feels like he is to me."

"That'll change when we get our friends back and stop him," Kara said firmly.

Oliver looked back at her. "You're such an optimist."

Kara grinned. "Someone has to be between the two of us."

Oliver laughed, picking his coffee back up and taking a sip. "Well played, Kara."

Winn Schott

Thea smirked and flicked her finger, knocking the black king over. "Checkmate."

"Again?" Winn complained, huffing and pouting. "Seriously?"

"Benefits of the job," Thea reached over to reset the board. "You learn to really strategize."

Winn muttered incoherently under his breath, resting his chin on his face. "I want to see you face Lena when she's found," he told her. "Kara told me she's amazing at chess."

Thea's grin was feral. "Challenge accepted."

Winn watched her reset the board, drumming his other hand's fingers on the arm of his chair. "Is being in a safe house always this boring?" he finally asked.

Thea made a show of jerking back, pressing her hand to her heart. "I am offended!"

Winn sputtered, eyes wide as he realized what he just said. "No, not you!" he hastily told her. "You're not boring, not at all. Definitely not boring, I'm glad you wanted me here with you – " He cut off when he saw Thea's shoulders shake. "You're teasing me, aren't you?"

"Yes," Thea giggled.

Winn pouted again, crossing his arms. "Not that I don't enjoy you kicking my ass in chess, I don't like being here and not being able to use any form of electronics."

"OK, yeah, I agree with you there," Thea nodded. "That's the worst part about a safe house, not being able to use your cell phone. It's barbaric."

"Thank you!" Winn gestured to her as if she made the most important point in the world.

"Yeah," Quentin finally spoke up from where he'd been pacing the room restlessly. "Normally I'd chalk that up to millennial nonsense, but I know what you mean. I'm champing at the bit to speak to that judge in Rene's case right now."

"Well, what could you say?" Thea spread her hands. "That Rene was kidnapped by some psycho that's in jail?"

"I got to do something, Thea," Quentin insisted. "I know what it's like to lose a daughter, and hell if I'm gonna let that happen to Rene."

"What happened?" Winn asked.

"Quentin arranged a hearing for Rene to try and get custody of his daughter," Thea explained. "Except Rene never showed for the hearing because of Chase."

"Oh, boy," Winn winced.

"Yeah," Quentin nodded. "That's an understatement."

A trill of a phone made Winn jump, and he and Thea turned to the agent that was in the room with them as he pulled out a phone. "Agent Kosineski," he said. "Hello?" He abruptly jerked away from his phone, and Winn frowned, hearing the static from where he was sitting a few feet away. The agent moved to speak into his comms, saying, "Hey, Sharon, we got a problem with the comms in – " Static burst from that, too, and Kosineski frowned suspiciously. "Stay here," he ordered, drawing his gun and heading towards the door.

The three watched him go, then Winn cleared his throat. "Yeah, that doesn't make me feel good about staying here."

"Agreed," Thea looked around. "All in favor of not staying here and waiting?"

"Aye," Winn held up his hand.

"You read my mind," Quentin nodded, drawing a gun of his own. "Let's go."

Winn Schott

They found Kosineski on the ground, and Quentin shifted to cover Thea as she ran to check on him. "Is he – ?" Winn began, not seeing him move very much.

"It's a tranq dart," Thea assured him. Quentin turned down a hallway, gun raised, and Thea grabbed Kosineski's to use. "You coming with me or staying with Quentin?" she asked.

"Uh," Winn blinked rapidly.

"Actually, you're coming with me," Thea decided, grabbing his wrist and tugging her after him.

"I was actually gonna say that!" Winn stumbled over his feet before getting his balance back, following Thea down another hall.

Quentin Lance

Quentin caught the tail end of a figure attempting to leave the next room, and he quickly raised his gun. "Stop right there!" he shouted. "Stop!" The figure did, and Quentin tightened his grip. "Turn around slowly," he ordered. "Turn – "

The figure did so, coming into full view, and Quentin almost dropped his gun in shock, feeling his heart race. He'd heard crazy things lately, about aliens of all things, but seeing something like this . . . but this was –

His eldest daughter, his beautiful daughter, graced him with a smile and said softly, "Hi, Daddy."

Quentin gulped, hands shaking as he lowered his gun. "No," he stammered. "It can't be."

"It can be," Laurel assured him, stepping closer. "Don't worry, I'll explain everything."

The click of a gun stopped her, and Quentin looked to the side to see Thea come in through another doorway, gun aimed at Laurel, Winn holding a gun of his own now and off to her side. "Don't take your gun off her, Quentin," she ordered.

"Thea," Quentin swallowed. "Thea?"

"Guessing he still doesn't know?" Winn asked quietly.

"No," Thea shook her head, Laurel shooting her gun a dark look. "Quentin, it's not what it seems. Ollie and I – "

There were two popping noises, and Winn yelped, knees buckling as he sprawled on the ground. Thea jerked and collapsed after him, falling practically on top of him. A third pop sounded behind Quentin, and searing pain stabbed him in the neck. He grunted, his vision swimming, and he tried to turn and see who was behind him.

He saw the familiar face of Evelyn Sharp before he, too, fell to the ground. The last thing he remembered was Laurel crouching over him, a mock look of sadness on her face as she crooned, "I'm so sorry, Daddy" before his vision turned black.

A/N: If the latter part of this isn't up to normal standards . . . yeah, you can probably tell where I picked up after a long hiatus on this book.

I hope I won't take nearly as long to update again, but please do keep in mind that while I am incorporating canon episode storylines into this, the majority of this is AU and original, and that takes time to plan and work out, not to mention I have school and activities outside of fanfiction that take priority over writing. Please keep being patient, and I will (try to) make any wait worth your while.
