Allthegoodnameswheretaken chapter 14 . 4/26 Your Vincent seems to become more and more useless as the story progresses. |
MagentaMusings chapter 9 . 10/17/2019 Man, there was a point when I could translate Al-Bhed automatically just reading it, but that skill be a dead one now, alas. Still, it's nice to meet Benson. Rex can go suck on a Fiend |
MagentaMusings chapter 8 . 10/17/2019 I Like the fact that y'all translated Normal Names into al-Bhed. though I will admit I have never heard of anyone called Snyder Also, I forgot to mention in my review last chapter (and this site only allows for one per chapter, which is ridiculous, what If I reread and want to re-comment?) but Fighting Weapon with Cloud and Yuffie? You Are a man of wealth and taste, Going with the Best Party In The Game By Far. (though the inability to have a Fourth member, and thus Add Red XIII to the Mix prevents it from being Truly Perfect, admittedly) |
MagentaMusings chapter 7 . 10/17/2019 Hrrrm. Y'all use the Term "Before Sin went Neuclear. That raises an Itneresting question; Do the folks in FFVII Know what neuclear Power is? Do they have Nuclear Bombs? Or would they use the term "Go Mako" to mean a huge explosion. THAT raises the question of wether they have MAKO bombs. IIRC, there was kind of a big push to keep the idea of mako reactors being safe and friendly and totally not likely to blow up despite the Various detonated husks of mako reactors you tend to trip across in the course of FFVII (Even a few you didn't even need to blow up yourself, which is what _I_ call convenience |
MagentaMusings chapter 5 . 10/17/2019 Jecht actually has Three Overdrives in the Game. Triumphant Grasp in the First Half of the fight, Ultimate Jecht Shot Once he pulls the sword out of his Chest, Which involves Summoning a Meteor, Catching it, and then tossing it at his enemies, and Jecht Bomber, which he uses on Aeons, and I can't remember what it looks like. I think It's kinda crappy? Not terribly Memorable.. Granted it's been years since you wrote this chapter and you may well have gotten a review pointing out the same things a dozen times, but, if not, New Information is always fun! |
Yup chapter 2 . 7/7/2019 Vincent is 200057302000872087 years old. |
skygunner58203 chapter 27 . 3/5/2019 Thank all that is holy that there are websites to download fanfics in book-reader formats. I haven't come back to this in forever and I'm currently listening to this while at work. Always amazing work. Any idea when an update may come? |
blackhack chapter 28 . 11/6/2018 Your update history is impressive. So I’m hoping I can get one in the next year! Love the novelization you’ve done with Vincent inserted. Curious how you’re going to do the Omega ruins portion along with Yunalesca. |
Battlesny chapter 28 . 9/10/2018 why am I not surprised he's shown up again. it's kinda bad how this story reminds me of how many FF games I've only half finished. except XV, that one's a case of why you shouldn't tell people how depressingly a story ends. kinda ruins the desire to actually see it. |
UnLike Us chapter 28 . 5/8/2018 Hello there, this was my first time rading your fick and I found it to be quite interesting. You mentioned that you enjoyed constructive criticism so I'll get that part over with as soon as possible. The most notable thing I reacted to while reading your story an aspect concerning your writing which has stayed consistent through out. You have a tendency to repeat the same word to denote what your talking about, perhaps for clarities sake. Only it isn't always needed and sometimes becomes excessive. From what I know of writing generally one avoids repeating the same word too often in the same sentence or even the same paragraph when writing in English. (It may be different in other languages) Personally I also experience it as being rather clunky and after a while a little tiering. To help you understand what I'm referring to I gathered the most obvious examples from this chapter. 1."Breaking and splintering wood overpowered the sound of rushing water as the cable pulled at the crossbow. The harpoon cable strained and pulled at the crossbow, but the rope held. The bolts that held the crossbow to the hull held." - Here you mention '...cable pulled at the crossbow.' and in the sentence which follows you say '...cable strained and pulled at the crossbow' essentially repeating yourself. If you want to to emphasise the 'strain in the second sentence the simplest would be to cut away the 'crossbow' and 'cable' altogether and just 'it strained...'. 95% of the readers should get what your talking about since the subject hasn't changed. - you also repeat the same word in succession the following sentence. 'The bolts that held...' and '...to the hull held'. Although your not repeating your meaning it kind sounds bad so my suggestion would be to exchange one of the 'held' with something else. e.g. 'The bolts that anchored...' or '...to the hull didn't give way.' 2. "They all leaped backward just as the worm slammed its head down into the sand where they had been standing. The impact shook the ground and sent waves of stinging sand into the air. The sand blinded the Guardians, but Vincent was high enough in the air to be unaffected by the sands." -'Sand' is the offender in this sentence. This one is a little tougher, but again my suggestion is to find an alternate description which doesn't require you to use the same word in every sentence. and using 'it' where it's obvious enough what your talking about or just straight out combine sentences. here are a few alternatives: 'the spot they had been standing'/'the dune they had been standing on.' or 'sent waves of stinging sand in the air, blinding the guardians' or '...to be unaffected by it.' 3. "Magical sparks covered the boy's body and his wounds began to heal. The smallest wounds healed almost instantly, but the most grievous were very slow to heal."-'heal' is the culprit here. Especially try to avoid using the same word in the same sentence. People are able to figure out what you're talking about from the context eg. 'The smallest wound healed/(substitute expression) almost instantly but the more grievous were slow. You can use 'knitted together' or 'closed up' or even 'disappeared/vanished" as a substitute of you wish. If you mention heal in the first sentence don't repeat it I the following. I hope this helped you figure out what I was talking about. It's not a big enough thing that warrants you going back to correct it, but I figured since it was a consistent thing you might benefit from me pointing it out. As a writer myself, I also struggle with this aspect. I always have to fix those things when I do the editing afterwards, but at least I know what to look out for. Asside from that you have a tendency to misspell certain words and instead use one with a spelling but different pronunciation and meaning. I noticed 'dessert' instead of 'desert' here I think, but another one that you've done quite often is 'revel' instead of 'reveal'. I'm dyslexic so I am very susceptible to this sort of mistake myself. One strategy can be to identify the risk words and go specifically back to make sure you got them right. But recently I've personally have found to have the computer read the text to me is very helpful in spotting this particular sort of mistake. I know Mac has this function under Edit, and there is also downloadable software that does it but I'm not sure who it works on other compute models. Asside from that, your righting is very satisfying. Fighting scenes are engaging and not at all stunted or hard to follow. I particularly appreciate how you get the other characters to chip in and do their part, getting almost as much screen time in fights as Vincent. The risk with having such an overpowered outsider like Vincent coming into a story is that all the attention in fights goes to him as he wipes the ground with the foes. Not only is it not giving credit to the other characters efforts, but it's also not true to the Final Fantasy spirit of team work. And I think that you have captured that spirit beautifully. Conserning characters, I think they are all well written and portrayed. I like the direction you have taken with Vincent, and I LOVE your OCs (totally ship Biggs and Wedge). The only time I really felt a character was out of character (lets ignore Kinok's overly fascination with science since he's a minor villain and he seemed interested in machina to begin with) was when Auron met Vincent again in Spira. I feelt that his antagonism towards Vincent wasn't true to the originals dedication to his promises, and his argument for Vincent being the cause for Braska's and Jekt's death, weak. However, I can buy it somewhat id I consider that Vincent's intervention diluted the regret and inadequacy that Auron felt towards himself at the time of his death. From what I understand from the Final fantasy X lore on unseen is that they are not as flexible in mind and spirit as the living and will often cling on to specific goals or values that were particularly strong at their time of death while the rest erodes away with time until they eventually turn into fiends that only bear hatred and resentment for the living. But well, haven't had an issue with Auron's attitude to Vincent since then. I find your portrayal of Vincent's abilities quite interesting, since you use frequently use the abilities that he may or may not have had in canon, such as flight, where other's tend to understate these particular supernatural abilities. Like what your doing with how the people react to him swell. Very understandable and realistic of mob mentality. LOVE the way you portray Vincent's demons. I don't really care about the talking Chaos or hell masker since I've read it before, and it doesn't really strike me as that special. However, your descriptions of them when they actually appear... ! The really come alive in your writing, and I can almost feel them breath through the words. Awesomeness! As far as plot goes, even though you stay true to cannon you do add some new elements that make it slightly different and your own writing without giving off the impression of being too far from canon, like some fights, the way Riku travels with Vincent, some parts of the Eon/summon thing and even Cait (I very much appreciate that you introduced him and loved Reve's holograph). But you have other part's that to me clash a lot with the original FFX story like what you seem to be doing with Yunaleska (I have my suspicions the one winged angel and/or Jenova are somewhat related to her). But hey, this is a crossover so its fine and you do a better job of amalgamating the lore than most. Speaking of amalgamation, I found your idea of FFVII being FFX distant past quite novel (hear of the other way round before though) and it gave me a little inspiration for my own novel that's in the mind works concerning the origin of the Ronso and Guado (hint:what creature's do they resemble the most in the world of FFVII). I saw that you didn't draw the connection, but it's defiantly got potential. So thank you for that. Looking forward to seeing what interest Seymour hold for Vincent. I'm also wondering what your planing for the head of Yevon, majster forgot-his-name. The old guy. I actually really liked the guy from the moment he decided to send himself to the warplane in despair when he herd that Yunaleska had been defeated and that it would be impossible to summon the final aone. I thought it made him out to be a more multisided character since it showed that he really believed in what he was doing (in spite of everything) and that he did care for Spira. Well, that's all from me. Don't think I'll be following this fick, but considering that you seemed to imply there were big gaps between your updating, you might be posting chapters at a the same rate that I'll be reading them. By the way, from a fellow writer to another (even though you may well be my senior) don't be too obliged or feel to guilty about the long pauses between two updates. While some readers can be vocally impatient and overly eager as well as feel entitled there are plenty enough that are understanding and willing to wait, even though they haven't dropped a single review to say as much. Besides, it's not as if your being paid to churn out chapters. As a writer myself I know what it can be like to get a chapter up, especially considering the monster chapters that you post. That's a lot of work. To me the dedication you have shown to completing this as well as how far you have brought this story, is much more than I can ask for as a reader. I'd rather have those qualities in an author I like than fast updates that'll just drop off the face of the planet one day. Best of luck |
Claws2 chapter 28 . 12/2/2017 Welcome back, Wrath. It's great to see you and The Gunslinger again. This was always my favorite 7/10 crossover. |
Onitsu Blackfeather chapter 28 . 11/22/2017 Hey there, welcome back! This was an amazing chapter. I loved it so much. Man...that psycho pedo living? Damn, I was hoping he was burning in hell but eh, plot devices will be amirite? Thanks for posting another chapter. We've (your dear readers) all missed you! :D |
Enkida chapter 28 . 11/17/2017 You know, I've never read this one... it's on my to-do list, but I stopped reading FFX fic a long time ago so as not to be influenced while trying to beat out my own story. But I gotta give you props for coming back and continuing after this many years. Take it from someone who did it, too. Good luck and let's bring these stories home! 5 :-) |
Power chapter 28 . 11/15/2017 can you please add the translations if you're gonna do the other language please. FF doesn't let us highlight the sentence. |
