WillItWork chapter 12 . 7/15 It took me way longer than it should have to realize that they are the Runaways. Joss. Good job! |
Guest chapter 31 . 7/7 This is one of my favorite stories, I've been reading it for years and always look forward to an update. I wish you the best and am praying for you as well. |
Sorentia chapter 31 . 7/5 Hey, lost all my log ins, but wanted to pop on here and say I hope life is doing as well as it can by you in these times. I just binge read the entire story again, something like the 5th time since I found this story. I noticed a few things that I figured I would shoot your way in case you are still re-editing anything in this story. These are inconsistencies that I came across, so if you spot them when editing you can correct as desired. 1. Dawn - She is mentioned effectively three times. The first is when a glowing green girl hugs him shortly after arrival in the Marvel Verse, and he has no clue who she is. It was a throw away line while Xander was in his coma at the start. Again, while in LA she is mentioned in Xander's thoughts, but this time he knows who she is. Then when Alex is sent to the Buffy-verse, she has no idea who she is. Since the last scene is the largest, I'm assuming the middle mention was the accident. 2. Angel - There is a line where Buffy says she doesn't know who Angel is. Now, I just reread this on AO3 so if it is different here, so be it, but in that posting, Angel isn't brought up in Alex's prior line of dialogue, so Angel coming up out of no where is an inconsistency. Also, Buffy's line leads to the conclusion that Angel lost his soul before Xander got cosmos napped. This would not sync with traditional Buffy-verse timelines and cannon, as he was still Angel, not Angelus, at the time of the Holloween episode. 3. Not a Gender Bender Story - Okay, this, I honestly could care less about. Your focus in the long run was not Xander as Powergirl, but what would a Kryptonian Female with Xander's personality traits cause being dumped into Civil War. However, I finally found one scene that supports everyone that insists it is a gender bender fic. The sorcerer that Nico takes Xander and Louise to specifically states that Xander/Alex is an amalgam of two universal constants of which only one of each can exist in a universe. A heroic Xander and Powergirl. He goes on to state that Xander/Alex is the combination of Xander's mind and Powergirl's body and confirms it is likely that somewhere out there is a reversal of this, Powergirl's Mind in Xander's body. This would lead readers to point and say, "See, a gender bender fic." Now, the way every single bit of the rest of the story reads, Alex is actually the memories and personalities of both merged and stuffed in a Kara suit for a body. The only problem with this reading of the story is it contradicts the in universe reason given from the above mentioned scene for the entire kerfuffle happening. You cannot destroy an artifact or an abstract. In the merged reading of the story, Xander's body, one half of the pairing, would have to have been destroyed. I don't know if this is a scene you might want to review or not, but it seems to be the only thing that leads people to believe it is a gender bender no matter how often you tell them it is not. Honestly, I'd say who cares if they read it as a gender bender fic. If they are reading it for that purpose then during the 2nd half, after Alex accepts she is, was, and shall always be a female, all of the tropes of a gender bender fic are played out and no longer revisited. Only a few minor scenes even bring up the name Xander Harris again later in the story when they are trying to figure out what to do about Superwoman. So if that is all they are looking for, they'll leave long before chapter 31. For everyone else, it's a fine examination of the mental and emotional struggles that Xander/Alex go through from start to finish on her way to becoming a hero. 4. Last one I promise, Dating. In one of the last chapters, I think the first Deadpool appearance, the year is quoted as 1997. Everything else puts the story in 2006-07 ish. So, yeah. I might have missed a joke in there, but it felt like a typo. I was close to 28 hours up at that chapter. So yeah, here I am, 5 times through the story. I'll end up reading the whole thing again in a year or when ever a new chapter goes up. Again, I hope life is going as well as it can for you. Be Safe, and Be Healthy. |
CarsonNapier chapter 31 . 7/1 Thank you so much for continuing this amazing story despite your health issues. I am sure that all your fans (of which I am one) greatly appreciate all tour effort. I sure do. I am enjoying you writing immensely, and I wish you a speedy recovery and return to something closely resembling your full health. Best wishes. |

Abaddon Kikoskia chapter 1 . 4/17 I'd like to preface the rest of the review with my two positives. Firstly; This story is very engaging, despite all the shit I'm about to drop on it, I kept reading until I finished all there was. Secondly; the MC has the abilities of Power girl/Super girl, and the author does not undersell how powerful the character is as a result of this. Here be spoilers. Now for the shit. This story is supposed to be Xander in the body of a krpytonian thanks to the usual Halloween shenanigans. The problem is that the character rarely, if ever, acts like Xander with the exception of saying they are Xander. The main plot point for the story is Avenger's Civil War era U.S. government are basically comically/blatantly evil about how they enforce the registration act and thus the main plot is the MC and nearby allies being persecuted/attacked by the government. That plot point has been resolved numerous times, but it will return within a chapter or two. Next; the plot point of returning home is only relevant when 'on camera' so to speak, typically they find a lead, go to the lead immediately, lead is a dead end, MC sulks, OC love interest get's bitchy about the sulking, they make up and move on. There is an annoying amount of redundancy with repeated plot points such as a character saying the MC killed someone and therefore they are bad, and then another pointing out that the first character and several other people they like also killed people. Going back to the love interest mentioned earlier, they meet at a convent, and within a chapter and very little time are dating, if you don't like the character or the idea of the main character having a weight hanging around their neck, you should probably stop reading there because they will be staying around for the rest of the story. The love interest's main purpose is to give main character a reason to kill people after something bad happens. The reader should also be prepared for the fact that the main character is also in the body of a very attractive woman, a fact that gets brought up several times a chapter. This one is a temporary issue, but during a couple of the early chapters the author has multiple characters speaking within the same paragraph formatted as a huge wall of text making it a slog to read through, but that issue is mostly resolved before chapter 10. The final point I'm remembering to mention is that the MC comes across a little bit Mary Sueish with being more powerful than every other character witness within the story thus far. being liked by most everyone, and the people who dislike her are either Evil/Misguided/Under Mind Control. In summary: This story is a train wreck, and once you start watching you feel compelled to watch it all the way to the end. |
Beowulf-BX chapter 31 . 4/8 You figure that Sentry and Captain Marvel would've learned their lesson. If Alex REALLY would have gone all out then those two would have been a bloody mist in the air. Case in point Supermans singel punch could shatter the moon, and he was still holding back. Also while checking out this chapter I was listing to a song called Superman Theme Epic Cover on youtube check it out it might help out with some ideas. PS, Deadpool and Alex in a pun-fu fight...Let Mortal Kombat begin lol. |
Guest chapter 31 . 4/3 Thank you. |
Chris Baker chapter 31 . 2/27 I look forward to more when you can post it. It's pretty darned good and I want more. I understand now that it will or wont be awhile depending on how you're doing. More updates mean you're doing better and I like that. I had to work with a guy who had 2 store bought legs. He was flying a helicopter and I was driving a fuel truck for him. At one point while we were talking in between flights, I told him he wasn't the one who was handicapped here. That he could fly a helicopter and I certainly couldn't. I still can't. Not even in a simulator. People with drive can do wonderful things in spite of physical handicaps and you have my admiration. |
Chris Baker chapter 30 . 2/27 The Modern Major General song is my favorite G & S songs. My favorite production is The Mikado but the song is better than any of the ones in the Mikado. Best scene ever, Babylon 5 and the 2 going to infiltrate Mars and the An'la Shok singing that and driving the doctor crazy. And I'm angry at myself because I can't think of either one's name. |
Chris Baker chapter 26 . 2/27 So, does she want to go home or does she want to pull in Louise to where she is now? |
Chris Baker chapter 24 . 2/27 If this is any indication of how the comic books have gone I'm glad I haven't read any of them. I stopped in 1969 when I joined the military (voluntarily), back when they were straight forward and the heros were really heros. I have no idea who either of those women are and don't really care. By the end of the chapter, well actually at her appearance in an earlier chapter, I was accepting that this Willow was very dissimilar from the canon one from TV. |
