Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter, Misc. Books, and Cartoon X-overs. Hey. About my fic: It constantly surprises me that I am still receiving reviews for it, considering it was completed eight years ago. How are you finding it? Anyway, I thought I'd address some of the most commonly commented-on aspects. First, the spelling. I am not going through and fixing them. Too much work, and it would only serve to bump my fic on everyone's lists, which is a dick move. Second, following canon too closely. I know it reads like that. But the thing is, this fic was always more about fanfiction than telling a story. I wanted to address all the issues that I had with canon, and with most fics, so I went chronologically through them. I showed Harry blowing through the mysteries to show that they were sort-of simple and that if he had had all the ability god-mode-sue fics usually give him, he would have no trouble. Those fics usually increase the challenge to compensate, but too often they just toss Harry the idiot ball. I also tried to show how I think magic works in the Harry Potter world by showing the Occlumancy and Animagus stuff. I specifically mentioned Harry making a lightsaber because it demonstrates that as something a teenager would think to do and to present it as a novelty. Because that is all it would be in the Harry Potter world. Swords aren't useful in the modern world. Third, Ron. I admit I don't like him. He's a sports obsessed idiot who is routinely rude to the girls he dates and betrays Harry more than once. But that is not why I bashed him so hard in this fic. In this case, it was more about Harry than Ron. I wanted to portray Harry as a normal kid who goes from being powerless and friendless to powerful and... "friendful"? Having a friend. As the story progresses, Harry becomes more full of himself, and crueler to Ron, who was only ever friendly to him. Ron's actions in second year were entirely justified considering how Harry's treated him so far. Also, while Ron isn't the most intelligent character, I purposely never showed him to be stupid. The reason Harry never liked Ron wasn't because of Ron at all. Harry was simply a child who didn't want to share his new, first friend with someone else. He thought Hermione liked Ron, so he did his best to push Ron away. Fourthly, the Magic Eating. This was just an instrument to give Harry lots of power. I never really explained it because it wasn't really important. Eating the Stone didn't give Harry any of the Stone's abilities because he just ate it. He managed to copy the basilisk's eyes because he also had eyes and it wasn't much of a change (and because I didn't want the story to end there). Harry never had any reason to want the ability to eat souls or torture everyone in his general vicinity. Lastly, the ending. I was tired of writing. I didn't want to leave it unfinished and abandoned. Funnily enough, when I started writing, the story was meant to be a serious attempt to tell a Harry Potter story. That was abandoned before I finished the first chapter. Writing original stories is a lot of work and requires more creativity than I have available to me. I'm not really proud of the fic as it is, but it serves its purpose well enough. That is, to put my ideas about magic into the fandom, and to tell jokes. As of 2012, I've actually mostly lost interest in Harry Potter stories. These days, I'm more interested in Buffy, Naruto, or Daria work. Interesting observation: My story is my story. You may think that I wrote it incorrectly, but since it is my story, you are wrong. I don't take requests. Things happened the way that I wanted them to, and they happened that way because I think that your way is stupid and mine is good. Thank you. This means that anyone who reads the first couple of chapters and decided to leave a review telling me they aren't going to read anymore because I didn't put Harry in [blank] House or because [blank] is Harry's one true love can go shove it.
