Reviews for Harry Potter and the Time of Retirement
csheila chapter 1 . 7/28
Interesting. Harry is very detached. It makes sense because I feel the same way as I age.

Looking back he was similar in Canon
stevem1 chapter 21 . 6/20
There are some good ideas in this story but I could not finish. I did not see the purpose. Harry is detached because he’s an old man in a young body. Leaving aside the impact of a youthful body (which would impact his behavior), Harry ghosting through things, disinterested even in his friends, gets old.
AJ Granger chapter 14 . 4/6
Why is Harry even bothering with Dumbledore? He could simply talk to the goblins. He also isn't likely subject to the trace and is certainly mature enough to handle his money. It's interesting that this Harry is so mediocre and that his life with Ginny only resulted in him barely living with no real passion for anything, even his wife. And that lackluster and gloomy view seems to be affecting this life. It's like Harry doesn't really enjoy anything. There's no ambition. No search to do better. Nothing that makes life worth living. It's depressing.
Blackbob chapter 1 . 3/13
No? Are you sure, Harry?
M chapter 30 . 9/13/2019
I've really enjoyed this read. I only wish we got pov of Harry from other characters. But you've done a excellent job on the oh old person in a child's body. It like going to a kindergarten you can interact we them but to you don't find them all the interesting. Harry has lived a full life he doesn't care much about fixing it and that I think would be most adults reactions. You feel for him, with Herimone that reaction is understandable on both sides; Harry just died and this annoyance of a childhood friend is here talking your ear off. I see Hermione said too the " Harry Potter" said those things to you. I very much enjoy this take on Time Travel story. It's true you change as you grow in wisdom and age. What would have set you off as a child you don't see as a big deal with adult eyes. You get the reality slap to the face with this. The Dursley all the HP fandom hates them but with you we dislike then but also see the fear the have of Harry. I'm not saying I condone their actions but you get the understanding of them. They have a human weapon living with then that has powers they can't defend themselves from when its mad. Maybe they did treat Harry well but his accidental magic scary then when he got to happy as a tot. People who said it boring don't appreciate the approach to took to this tale. I hope you're doing well and continue writing in the future.
IamKroGan1 chapter 3 . 9/7/2019
If you think Harry is average we must have been reading different stories. Average people don't surving encounters with Voldemort, kill Basilisks, drive away a host of Dementors at 13, outfly a dragon, escape the Black Lake with two hostages, fight his way through the maze, fight and survive Voldemort and Death Eaters, they don't teach DADA at 15 to people older than themselves, get O's and EE's in thier OWL's. If you think that's average then you are nuts.
IamKroGan1 chapter 2 . 9/7/2019
Well Harry has turned into a dick.
mumphie chapter 30 . 8/21/2019
Your story is intriguing and very interesting. I want to know what Harry is planning and if he will get his key, and if he will find out if he has a family vault. Will he be able to get the diary and other horcruxes? Why isn't he/or doesn't look like he is interested in helping Sirius? He's had nearly a year to get situated, when will he come out of his doldrums? So many questions...
I hope you continue this story - it is worth it.
mumphie chapter 27 . 8/21/2019
Couldn't Harry have asked for his key? He could say he appreciated their offer of help, but that he was a little uncomfortable with strangers having it.
mumphie chapter 21 . 8/21/2019
What is this word - ehi - you keep using? Never heard it uttered or seen it before. It must mean hi?
mumphie chapter 16 . 8/21/2019
I realize that Harry is jaded and old - and trying to 'think' young again. I don't see him NOT trying to befriend Hermione. She was his rock in his youth, even if their friendship faded in old age. Harry stated in his mind that he couldn't change anyone else, so no trying... but - Hermione mellowed her views, so he should try.
And - no thought of Sirius?
If everything is too much of a hassle, why doesn't he move to another country, change his name and live a very different life? Does he want to 'remake' his kids even if his married life wasn't thrilling? With a day-in, day-out life - who's life is? Does he care?
Does he HAVE a Potter family vault, even if it only held a few family artifacts and a few galleons? With the quick death of his folks, you would think so. Why didn't he ask while he was in the bank?
anonymous chapter 5 . 2/13/2019
it's a solid work but it's not really a story so i don't expect too many gushing reviews of this. your writing has no life. the words, they're stilted. the characters are hollow and though the premise is promising you never fulfill it. if you meant this as an exercise, you certainly accomplished that but i can't say that i enjoyed it and i'm not sure if you did either.
DiabolicalAngel chapter 14 . 1/2/2019
Sorry to say, this is really boring. I got halfway thru, expecting the story to pick up but meh
Guest chapter 30 . 11/6/2018
Why did it end there?! This is one of those few storied I could actually read all the way through (which is very rare) so why the cliffhanger? Author-san, please update. Please!
NotUrTypicalNotUrTypicalGurl chapter 12 . 8/17/2018
To those who plan to read it: There's really nothing interesting about this story at all. He's totally passive, doesn't seem to care about much at all. And when he does, the author just forgets about it. I'm on chapter 12 and I'm bored out of my mind.
