Author has written 15 stories for Harry Potter, and Fairy Tales. Profile Page for Hamilton Wrye AKA Hamm On Wry I am a 57 year old retired transportation worker and accounting major. I know that seems to be quite a difference in jobs, but it is not as much of a spread as it might seem. When I left the military, I worked for a private ambulance company in Los Angeles. When my license expired, I increased the size of the vehicles and began driving trucks. (That's lorry for you real Brits:) After 25 years in the transportation industry as a driver, trainer, hazardous waste handler, dispatcher, safety consultant and truck owner; I was stricken with a disease that cost me my medical certification. This was an inner ear disorder called Menieres Disease. It is very hard to diagnose (you essentially must rule out everything else, what is left is Menieres), and incurable without surgery that leaves the patient totally deaf. I decided that I could live with the dizzy spells and disorientation easier than I could the deafness. In order to survive, I had to apply for disability in 2003. During the time that I was waiting for approval, I also was diagnosed with diabetes, leg circulation problems, and several other problems. This led the government to declare me totally disabled in October 2006. I then had a heart attack the following month, then was diagnosed with kidney cancer in December. The surgery to remove the kidney went terribly wrong and I ended up partially paralyzed and had cyatic nerve damage in my left leg that gives me constant pain. I have to spend several hours each day in a highly padded recliner, so I have a lot of time to write. In 2010 I had my left leg amputated below the knee, but have since received a most excellent replacement that guarantees that I will never go through an airport metal detecter without bringing the TSA drones with their probity probes. So far I have been doing Harry Potter fanfics, but I am also writing an original work for publication dealing with the Knights Templar and their missing treasure. Prior to becoming ill, I wrote training manuals and articles for a Christian magazine. I tend to put some spiritual aspect in many of my stories such as my one shot, "The Judgment of Tom Riddle". Series The Best Defense Series The Best Defense: (Complete) This is the first story in the series. It is a seventh year story that has Harry having to be sent out of Britain to escape the nightly torture from Voldemort invading his mind. In this story, help comes from an unexpected source, Harry's cousin, Dudley. The ships in this story are in line with canon Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione. If you don't read this one first, the others won't make much sense. Whatever Happened to Severus Snape: (Complete) This story is a one-shot that goes deeper into the fate of our favorite snarky Potions professor. It also sets up the circumstances for the latest story dealing with Draco Malfoy. Whatever Happened to Albus Dumbledore:(Complete) This is a short multi-chapter story that answers many questions brought up in "The Best Defense" The Judgment of Tom Riddle: (Complete) This story is a one-shot that takes place after the final battle. It takes place on another plane of existence, at the seat of judgment. Since JKR has made the reward of the good an eternal proposition, something with which I wholeheartedly agree, it only makes sense that the fate of the wicked be similarly eternal. Whatever Happened to Draco Malfoy: (In Progress) This story begins six years after the final battle. Draco has been squibbed, his magical core inaccessible. But it is hard to keep a (good?) Slytherin down! Draco is a successful businessman in Boston when he meets his soul mate, a French squib who belongs to a family of magical government diplomats. The ship in this one is Draco/OC. The updates are kind of slow on this one lately, but I have been very busy with my book. Stand Alone Stories Eternal Conflict: (Complete) One-shot. Prophesies are a real b*ch, and the one that ties Harry and Voldemort together had to be set up by someone really warped. This story begins at the final battle, then the combatants go through a series of familiar dimensions before they come to rest and find out who has been yanking their chains for Harry's whole life. What REALLY Happened: (Complete) One-shot. This story is the result of too many tequilas and a night of listening to old jokes. I simply took one of them and fleshed it out. I had a lot of fun with this one. He Did it His Way: (In Progress) This is a sixth year story. It starts out along the Independant!Harry, Grey!Harry template, however I take the goblin situation and the "Lord Potter-Black" into completely new territory. Seriously, Black: (In Progress) Have you ever wondered what Harry's life would have been like had Sirius been a responsible adult? Since I just started this one, and am writing it on the fly, so to speak, I have no idea what, if any, ships that I will put together. Conscience of the Snake:(In Progress) Harry and Luna return to a Britain Voldemort reigns supreme. All opposition has either fled or died, the magical creatures no longer exist, Gringotts has fallen. Harry discovers a way to change the past to save the future, but something goes very wrong. (I have written the first chapter and will be posting it as soon as I finish "He Did it His Way") On A Pale Broomstick (In Progress) This is part of my daughter's home school English assignment. It is a crossover with Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality. Progress on this is slow since she went back to public school. I will probably end up finishing it off. *It is definate, I am doing the rest of it. Since I stopped my writing projects, Sue the Squirell has graduated high school, started nursing school, moved out and had a baby! 0o0o0o0o0o0 |
