![]() Author has written 16 stories for Harry Potter, X-overs, Ranma, Mechwarrior/Battletech, Dungeons and Dragons, Sailor Moon, Warhammer, Elder Scroll series, Familiar of Zero, Anime X-overs, Fate/stay night, Mass Effect, and Anima: Beyond Fantasy. I am WRITER! FEAR MY WORDS! 26 years old, male, Die-hard Christian, Third Culture Kid. I am an aspiring author, and came across Fanfiction.net and the world of fanfiction at large while already on the stalling fourth draft of my first novel; thus, while I enjoy reading and writing fanfiction, I shouldn't really be giving it the priority I do compared to my original writing. Performance anxiety is all that's keeping me from spending more time on work that might actually earn me money. As of July 2012, I'm E-published; link to stories set in my original setting can be found here: Please feed the author, and buy some of my short stories. I've currently dropped to a roughly monthly posting schedule for fanfic, while I focus more on my original work. After having spent some more time bouncing around the Fanfiction community both on and off , I've decided to posit some thoughts on the various series I primarily read in, particularly chipping in my own thoughts on a few particularly controversial characters, etc. Note: While I may find particular character matches appealing/unappealing in various fandoms, I by no means am in any way a believer in any "one true pairing." These thoughts about various fandoms have been moved off of my Author page, onto my new Blog: http:/// Quotable: "The point is that you already have what it takes to be a cop," Ranma confided, nodding to himself. "All that matters is that you want to help people... and that you have a cyborg body with rocket boosters and a plasma gun. That's what counts." -Ranma to Usagi Tsukino, from "Millenium" by Black Dragon6. Story synopses/notes: Current Projects: The Warp Is Calm: Mass Effect/Warhammer 40k crossover. This is basically my response to being frustrated with crappily-written crossovers between various sci-fi franchises, Mass Effect in particular. I suppose it's in part because video game franchises attract more of the semi-literate than book or tabletop game franchises, but this story, especially now that I've restarted it with an improved-quality version, will hopefully show that yes, good sci-fi crossover fanfiction is possible from people other than Peptuck or Academia Nut. Familiar and Unfamiliar Summonings: A 'What if?' story set relating to the consequences of Louise summoning various different familiars, starting with Optimus Prime and going from there. Has already spawned one novel-sized independent story, and will probably feature some chapters that are sequels to previous ones. Unlikely to summon further full-length stories any time soon, as Dragon Summoning has worn me out a bit for ZnT. War in Tokyo: It is stupid hard to write this story. My plans for it were incredibly ambitious, and the story has stalled as a result; I still add bits and pieces to it now and then, but since the chapters run 10k apiece, that still takes a long time to update. If I haven't finished it by the time I'm done with Hero Harry, it will be my next primary focus, just to get it done with. GREAT FLAMING EYEBROWS: Ranma/Samurai Jack/multicross Crack fic. This will post in chapters that are intended to function essentially as self-contained episodes. This is a secondary project just for kicks that will see occasional updates when I'm in the mood for writing Ranma crack. Second chapter is partway written, but this story very specifically has no update schedule. Completed Stories: Brutal Harry: This story is finished, and I will be working on a sequel once I finish other project(s). The name has apparently confused some, it is actually mostly a story about realistic consequences of child abuse in Harry's life, and the only 'brutal' to Harry, is that he is brutally utilitarian. Hero Harry: Sequel to Brutal Harry, this story picks up two years after the end of Brutal Harry, and things have changed. This will contain elements of crossovers, plot devices and suchlike taken from other franchises, but the primary cast will all be HP, and continue the character stories/development begun in Brutal Harry. Cameron's Legacy: This is a story that posts to the Space Battles Creative Writing forum first, then here after I've gotten feedback etc from there. Battletech Alternate History, centering around the planet of Caph, and its withdrawal from the Inner Sphere between the second and third succession wars to rebuild an advanced tech base, then attempt to spread it to the rest of humanity, and defeat Comstar. Should be finished by mid-summer 2012, if not sooner. Dragon Summoning: Plot bunny from Familiar and Unfamiliar summonings that's grown into an outright Dragon in and of itself. Completed. I didn't really like the ending, as I felt it came somewhat out of the blue. The character's ethos and motivations had been touched on before, but I felt like I was being to over the top in making that point; I couldn't really come up with a better way to end it in a reasonable amount of time. A hazard of letting a plot bunny out of control, I guess. Other projects that may see the light of day here: Rebooted Naruto fanfic: This story is a mix of the old project I listed here, with some ground-up rebuild ideas for the Naruto setting, to make it more realistic, and a lot more awesome. This is a very large potential project, similar in scale to Cameron's Legacy, that I would quite like to publish, but may never have the time. If you'd like to see my work in this setting, PM me. If enough interest shows, I'll put up a poll or something on if I should start posting with an indefinite update schedule, or not publish it at all until I know I'll finish at least one major plot arc. Space Ponies: My roommate is a Brony, and has effected me with enough Pony mania that I started writing a MLP/Sins of a Solar Empire crossover. It's intended to be posted on Space Battles first, and I've already written more than ten thousand words of it, but I intend to get a lot of it finished up before I post any of it, there or here. This project has been rather firmly put to the side; I still have a look at it every once in a while, but I'm focused more on my original work at this point, so it likely won't see the light of day until at least after the end of War in Tokyo, and Brutal Harry's sequel. None of these projects are gauranteed to show; I don't like leading readers on, because I hate stories that don't finish myself, it's a bit like a broken promise, so I don't plan to post something unless I am decently sure there'll be at least some form of completion/resolution to said stories. Projects in Limbo or dead: Hogwarts Gakuen: At this point, I'm probably going to leave this on my page forever, even if it never updates, because the reviews people have been leaving about it amuse the hell out of me. Dungeon Crawling Series: Consisting of Dungeon Crawling in Chicago, Guardian, and Dungeon Crawling in Fuyuki, this series is pretty much dead. It was fun while it lasted, but the basic D'n'D mechanical premise simply couldn't hold up to sustained use, and I've personally lost a lot of interest in D'n'D, having gotten rather tired of the flaws in the system, and moved onto other gaming systems primarily, though I do still keep a hand in. For those who've read my other material, be warned, this piece was about author self-gratification, I wrote it because I liked it, so it features incredibly rapid plot movement, and insane levels of overpoweredness. |
