I keep imagining Gris as Toph form avatar.
bennet001 chapter 26 . 10/7/2018
I don’t know why but when Jaune and Roman were having their back and forth my mind instantly strayed to Joker and Red Skull. Like the Joker worked with the Red Skull when he thought they were screwing with the hero’s but turned the moment he found out he was a Nazi. I’m not gonna lie I laughed for a good minute, if you knew me you would gasp in shock and possibly horror. I could see it; Roman helping some Grade A Super Villian then turn when he found out the goal was world destruction not domination.
bennet001 chapter 1 . 10/6/2018
You know I would love to see sun and Neptune be placed as Phil Coulson. Like both of them make one Phil Coulson. It would be hilarious. Though... Ozpin would be the only choice for Nick Fury. So maybe Qrow could fill this role better. Blake shouldn’t be black widow though if anything black widow should be Weiss.

The set up was good. So far the mesh of Jaune’s behaviors with Tony are spot on. Though if you are going to touch on Starks, non-MCU, alcoholism the only thing that would fit now is this traumatic event. Jaune just did too much to have any heavy trauma to warrant that. Babbaling again. I am just gonna end with I am looking forward to more.
James317 chapter 50 . 7/28/2018
Why did they leave Adam alive? I'm not usually an advocate of final solution but honestly, one of my pet peeves is the million chances trope.

One of the reasons I favored Marvel over DC is that unrepentant monsters like the Joker would never last there. I disliked the kid gloves Loki was treated with because I hate moral inconsistency like that. It doesn't make sense that you're willing to kill minions like the Chitauri in battle but when faced with the mastermind you let him go?

When the fate of the world is at stake shouldn't efficiency take precedence and punches not be pulled? Adam is a monster and should have been executed. Just my two cents. It's really just something I find to be a cliche that especially in Hero fics that minions and the like get brutally dismantled for following orders but the ones who orchestrate everything get off pristine.
sonalt chapter 50 . 7/7/2018
I’ve sat on this for a long time haven’t I?

Well to start with it’s a pretty long ramp up to comic book universe. Starting with the end of the Era of Hunters. Reclamation forces backed by new powerful weapons are pushing back the grimm and finding ancient ruins and with it magic and super science gadgets.

Regardless Ozpin is still up to his usual ways; that is to say trying to guide things from the shadows to deal with long-lived creatures indestructible objects and cyclical events. Using SHIELD this time.

But all this is more background to continuing human faunus conflict and Cinder’s own theatre. There’s humanity first, which all human, few-aura and dust users (I’m pretty sure there are more than a few fans of Jaune in there) causing terrorist problems, and then the faunus who have been gaining some ground but the White Fang have continued to radicalize with Adam willing to go even further in his attacks on humans, since they fear that all these new resources that opened up will go the humans. The results of which well triggered the whole character driven plot.

Jaune:
Jaune’s kind of sleazy and blasé in the beginning. A Tony Stark in technology but without the natural charm. At least at the beginning. While he is a brilliant design and lucky enough to get all the resources he needed he’s basically stuck drifting without much to anchor him; no friends, and family ties were cut. Pyrrha’s been his only major anchor and it too a long time for him to recognize just what kind of relationship he wanted with her. Ironically this time around Pyrrha the one that helped Jaune make connections with other people. He doesn’t even get that most people dislike their friend’s bosses.

He does have genuinely good intentions for Remnant with his technology, working make the world safer from the Grimm, and willing to lose quite a bit of profit in order to help out the faunus populations and challenge the Schnee’s business model. One of his big lessons has been figuring out who to trust.

Jaune’s also radically shifting his company to help clean up ethical and discrimination issues, which is getting concern trolling and questioning if he's in his right mind now. Which allowed Cinder’s coup to work.

He’s now stuck with using Paragon Protocol for the short term problem of Cinder releasing an army of Grimm and turning off the security, but that won’t help him win the respect of the board to get the company back, that’ll be another step to prevent them from grabbing another suit to replace her with. Pyrrha’s taking her on alone at least this time she has a decade more of experience and a mech suit to protect herself. Also a full support rank/intimacy, that helps.

He and Pyrrha have been in a holding pattern for a while, since he has no idea how to properly display romance interest, and still has a bad habit of flirting that he holds back of Pyrrha to avoid offending her. Winging it and staying conscious of stop being bad around Pyrrha has been working so far, After all she ended up liking him unfiltered. Just don’t add any extra filters yet. Dancing rather than anything other activities. and avoiding blushing as a general rule.

He’s build a lot of different suit, but unlike (how I think) Tony does it, they are less upgrades or specialist versions and more him trying to find something that will work for him. Hw never got proper combat training an it shows. He tech can help him handle most things, but without that advantage he’s limited still.

He’s got bad blood with Torckwick who has been making a killing off copying Jaune’s work and selling lower quality, less cutting edge products but with less strings attached. Him revealing the forgery is pretty much the real divergence point in the narrative.

A big set of issues for him is reconnecting with his family. Jaune has too much pride to accept or forgive that fogery though he is providing them with gifts and support though no communication or talking with them. The Pedestal he put them on years ago is fallen, with Foom’s accusation barely adding to the pile.

He does have the family semblance with lets him reflect strikes and produce a powerful shield, holding lines, a big defensive force multiplier. It’s got a lot of rules for a normal semblance fittingly, with the requirement of a male heir to empower it, sort would have been useful for Jaune to learn about this a long time ago. Of course now Pyrrha might be willing to help with the heir question.

Pyrrha:
While her relationship with Jaune started rough. As an assistant how had the pedestal she build for him undermined (hey turnabout is Fair Play), She suffered the near fatal injury rather than Tony!Jaune. Splitting the difference between the timelines. A new addition to her is that she’s become a competent engineer capable of assisting in Jaune’s creations and is responsible for building a lot of the more well-balanced suit designs. And even commissioning research into Vibranium.

She’s got mild blood knight tendencies; she likes fighting, and while normally a shrinking violet she blooms in the heat of battle. Despite the lack of active combat service she remains a warrior and it shows through her battles. She’s done well in all of them up until some of the new tech or magic unbalances her. She might have some new tricks with magnetically controlled plasma.

Pyrrha's got her interest in Jaune from seeing him develop things, seeing things move from magic to science to magic once more, and him being a good, if unpolished person. But moving forward in their relationship ran into the boundaries she set up because the risks of failure and stakes of an actual bond with some are too much for her to risk. But when she gets hyped from combat she can be impulsive and that triggered the husky kiss that changed everything. It was a near self-destruct but it worked out since they both were holding back. They might be playing their relationship by ear but it is working out for them.

She didn’t have a great team in Beacon, absolutely no one to connect with, trapped by reputation and training and between unflappably taciturn Ren and hero-worshippers Rika and Azure for her team. And at home she got super intense training from her mom, though her dad did before he died teach her a bit about how to compose herself diplomatically.

Bit sentimental with keeping the first Arc Reactor as a memento, and I’m also amused that she’s a personal space invader when sleeping. Also like her having a magnetic sense, pretty useful supplementary ability.

Not entirely sure about eh Nikos having universal forces for a family semblance… it’s very broad and restricted at the same time.

Cinder severely misread Pyrrha to think that she’d kill Jaune, of course she has massive blinders in regards to motives that aren’t about prestige, power, and punishment. Ignoring humility, desire to connect with others and love.

She may believe that the grimm are the truth of the world needed to cleanse if the useless annoying elements, but I don’t think she’s considered what she thinks would be left yet.

As for Cinder herself…. Cinder’s been playing the long game and is more of scientist, hoping to use the shift in era to making humanity collapse because they don’t really understand their new technology and toys. She’s not quite as interested in the relics and maiden powers because of Jaune. But technology and it’s ability to work with the other lost tales of Remnant. The Mandarin’s Rings will serve her well in that pursuit. Mind Control is a jerk of an ability.

Still she hasn’t made Salem happy to have practically obsoleted her Grimm with nothing to show for it yet. Isolating Jaune from his family, and building up his bad reputation and then stealing the company while he was out fixing that have mostly served her well. But now she has to actual carry it out and if it wasn’t for those rings she’d gone already and I’m pretty sure Jaune and Pyrrha have a few more tricks left, while she’s out.

Mercury and Emerald don’t have much to do, they helped Cinder turn Cardin into the Juggernaut by giving him the gem, before he froze solid in the river.

As for the Arc Family, It’s been put off for a long time but Jaune’s finally went to actually deal with his family issues. It’s a mess all the way through, they all believe strongly in ideals that don’t live up to, but at least both sides apologized and over the long cold period came to terms with the other’s reasoning. It also turns out obliviousness and trouble unlocking aura runs in the family. Family inheritances aren’t all winners. Them not all being warriors also helps, accountants and blacksmiths are useful as well.

Gris and Vert are the biggest interest. Gris because she’s an active huntress in training and functionally Dare-Devil and Vert because of her uncontrolled semblance, with no aura, makes her Gambit.

Pyrrha also got to meet her future mother-in-law who is concerned she might be a gold digger, and is going to be held up as a rival by Gris, so I sort of expect more of that in possible sequels.

For Team RWBY they haven’t really reformed yet but they are in place. Ruby’s adapted well to the changes in the world, she loves the technology, and is more than willing to become spider-man like hero. She’s not great with the secret identity thing, but a few things hidden from Ironwood and Wilhelm Schnee are good.

Weiss has gotten an easy few years, stuck with her father who’s willing to transform her into a Grimm to test out his new weapons, and not being able so much to wrest control. Also she’s now in a world with magic and that annoys her. She should become more importance once Arc Industries stabilizes and they can move on to Schnee-Arc economic war. While superheroes usually don't lose powers I kind of hope either get control or replace with another set for her own sake.

Blake’s at this point finally wrapping up the last loose ends of her White Fang spying mission. I wonder what she would have done if things didn't look so smooth for Jaune and Pyrrha in their attempt to escape. Capturing Adam was almost certainly carthatetic

Yang’s been fun. She’s dealt well with the reclamations even snagging the Giant Man/Ant Man’s belt from a lost nation. And she’s been having fun learning about how Jaune and Pyrrha hooked up. Though remember adrendikle makes her impulsive not lusty. She’s also upgraded to use the Wasp’s gear with flying support. This is her world.

While Ren is an Agent of Shield (same with Sun and Neptune but they aren’t doing anything of note), Nora of course Nora had to be Thor, she was always figuratively him, now literally. Still joined at the hip with Ren, who is a much moodier and bothered individual because the lack of her influence and the disappearance. He still can instantly adapt to Nora’s natural rhythm and handling her strange logic chains. Ren does not like Nora being a game piece for Ozpin.

The fact he didn’t remember hurt her, but since it was a copying mechanism in response to Rainbow Bridge incident, which incidentally should have cued Ozpin in to know that Ren wasn’t naturally going to ask much about Nora. So that left things some what awkward for a while between them, things are better now but there is still plenty of room to grow.

As for antagonists

Torchwick and Neo; the slimy pseudo-competitors, they’ve cleaned up and take up the cheaper contracts and have some spy work and blackmail attempts on Jaune because something about him as sparked an interest. I guess he’ll be doing something in the finale.

Wilheim Schnee is a jerk, god he's a horrible racist and smug in his power of influence (Apparently he believes in natural roles for each of the Kingdoms). Which got all his contracts with Arc Industries canceled and a trade war started. He also knows something supernatural stuff left behind in the lost Kingdoms. Mr. Schnee is working with the faction in Atlas gearing up for war in the post-Grimm era. and he's transforming Grimm using depleted dust crystals. First successful one was Weiss. And I’m pretty sure I’ll be equipping himself before too long with some other weapons.

Adam made a decent showing as the initial antagonist, he’s a disturbed individual with his obsessions, particularly Blake and vengeance and initial power of position. But lack of vision and overly narrow obsessions will keep him from expanding his scope. Scavenged armor can only go so far when he doesn’t have tech to really build got hit by a combo of smash, hack, smack around then rock drop on reactor to get taken out. Blake’s brought him, so he might have chance of causing more problems but for now he out.

Fin Fang Foom I’ve only known as a Kajiu monster that just goes around destroying things, same probably as Remnant so the fact he’s an alien scientist that’s trying to protect reliquaries of his kin is pretty different. Considering the relics are the rings, it makes sense to a degree why they were stolen, but all his accusations against the Star Knight since he was sealed away with them. Maybe they couldn’t be separated, maybe there was more mistaken intentions, not sure. He’s not exactly an unbiased source.

But the heroes managed to parley well to get a cease-fire and getting the chance to attempt to return the stolen kin, before he’ll go out to fight himself. Even Getting access to a teleporter in the process. I don't get why Jaune's science-y dreams of teleportation is starts fading when it was not a natural ability, but comes from another ship. (up-link gives access so he can patch in and possibly remotely study it)

Penny’s been minor, but she’s probably the one to Jaune recently hired to help. She’s supposed to have been shelved but she does provide some tech assistance as Penelope from the Atlas fleet.

And with have in Menagerie Teak Allan, who has found Vibranium dust. I suspect in a sequel he’s going to start making it big.

I don’t have the best knowledge of Marvel comics so some stuff likely went over my head.

But as a final note the Ancient Deathstalker with multiversal awareness was a good gag.
