I've never been in Britain, but do they really use grid patterns with numbered streets there? I would've thought it's more like in my country, where most settlements have grown for centuries with the old city- or village-cores still recognisable. And streets with real names. Such as Privet Drive, or Magnolia Crescent, or Charing Cross Road.

Ah, but you're a US American, you have no idea what "centuries" means. That's okay then. It's been long ago, when cities weren't pre-planned even before the ground-breaking ceremony.

Although, REALLY old cities are. It's the way the Romans planned their colonies, complete with thermae, arena and city walls. In most cases those ruins are covered with a much younger city-core, however, medieval or so. Still older than every European settlement in your hemisphere except L'Anse aux Meadows.

From the ...strange...experimentation and the comments of "her" not using a "plain old owl", I am assuming that she is none other than Luna Lovegood. Or maybe since it's 20 yrs in the future and the endearment of "sweetheart", it may be Luna Potter nee Lovegood.

Why do I say Luna instead of Hermione? Simple, while Hermione is smart, she's not into strange experiments like the Lovegoods are (Luna's mom died during a experimental spell work) and Hermione would certainly prefer an ordinary owl over using an Eagle.

I like it! Much more in line with how he'd probably react. I'd love to read more on this if you're ever inspired. Particularly with it being Harry/Luna.
