Author has written 10 stories for Harry Potter. Hi! I'm Itsme66 - 66 being my birthyear, added to the name I wanted, since someone already coined that. I'm a public servant somewhere in Scandinavia, which is as good a reason as any why my spelling, word-mingling and punctuation might not always be up to scratch. I'll be writing Harry Potter exclusively, and most of what I'll do will take place in - or just after - the first 5 years of his Hogwarts career. I'm disappointed with book 6, and book 7 is a complete disaster, as is the Epilogue and the final main pairings in particular. Ironically my first published fic - at least here - will be a canon compliant post Final Battle, starring Ginny Weasley on a quest on behalf of her boyfriend. In my defense, I was threatened into writing it ;-) 27-5-'10 Still not dead, although it was a close call. I'm spending way too much time in hospital these days, where a lot of highly educated people work their butts off to try and make what's left of my right hand work. So far they're moderately successful, but it hurts like nothing else. I have a hard time writing because of it, and an even harder time writing what doesn't flow, so please! Don't leave reviews and PMs saying 'update Connection soon'. I'm 7K words into ch. 4 and stuck, and my circumstances aren't conductive to battling the written word - or the empty page - for hours on end. Sooner or later I will get momentum back up and Connection will be finished, but please leave me some space before it becomes a chore. I am writing little bits and pieces of other stuff as the Muses direct me, and should they decide to tell me what to do with ch. 4 I'll be happy to oblige them, but until things and hands are back in order, updates on Connection will be few and far between. To spell it out: The Scottish Connection has not been forgotten. It will be finished in time, but I can't tell you when that time will be. Also I've been told that my writings show particularly Harry and Hermione out of character. Well... Yes and no. My Harry will for the most part be OOC, simply because I detest the brainless pussy that Rowling made of him, particularly in the last 2 books - which I fervently deny was ever written unless I really need them for plot-purposes. Hermione?... To be honest I like her character a lot. However, I tend to write Hermione Granger, not Emma Watson as so many others do. I've been accused of bashing her overly harshly, but I don't think I do. I just see other things in the traits that Rowling gave her and bring those things to the foreground. 1) She's intelligent, loyal, studious and a bit of a goody-two-shoes. She wants - or craves - equality and justice, and she'll go to extremes to achieve it. That's the Hermione most common in fanfic today, and it's all true as far as her character goes. 2) She's insecure, bossy, pushy, self-righteous and obnoxious. She respects - or worships - authority far too much, she has very little understanding of the world she's come into, and she has absolutely no people-skills. That's also all true, and that's the Hermione I'm exploring in most of my writings these days. However nothing is set in stone, and the first one - or a mix of both - may make appearances from time to time. 25-7-'11 I'm back... I think... With a bit of luck. I've had another 5 months in Hell with very little chance and no desire to write, and coming back I've spent a few days deleting most of the loose scenes and quotes I had for Enough is Enough. It will be the story I focus on first, but don't expect regular updates or even something like it. Connection has been put in a safe until I get to examining my notes for it. I haven't touched it for more than a year after all. I'm toying with a few ideas I have for Runaway Conclusion, but nothing has been fleshed out yet and I don't know if it will be. Another idea is to make the whole story a multi-chappie, but the same goes for that. I've uploaded a new oneshot - They Will NOT Approve - that I made as an exercise. I'm fairly certain most will hate it, but it got me off my mark and into writing something again so it served its purpose. 21-1-'12 I'm tentatively back again after what constitutes my life once more took a turn for the worse. Not much has been written since I last posted something, and I'm still not up to much. Just to at least do something I've edited The Mandatory and the Runaway? stories, hopefully making them somewhat easier to read - and yes, that edit includes eradicating around 1500 commas in The Mandatory. 20-5-'13 Another slice of arm - unfortunately including my elbow - and a minor stroke later, I'm back and trying once more. My youngest found a plothole in Connection big enough to put the Pentagon there, so that's on hold indefinitely. I have tried a few times to get Enough is Enough rolling again, but I can't seem to focus - something that's a major problem in my life these days - so I am basically just writing whatever drops into my mind. What little is actually readable will end up here, most likely in the Bag. Happy reading |
