BMS chapter 2 . 4/21 You lost me w/ Remus. Why do people who write "Harry w/ different Caretakers/ family/Teachers" stories insist on shoehorning in canon adults? Worse, it's always The coward, Remus "woe is me I'm a werewolf" Lupin or The idiot Serius "vengeance is more important than Harry" Black. Both of whom only see Harry as a way to get their friend James back. Are there no Korean magicals? Indian, Japanese? Chiun knows about the "stick wigglers", and has since at least '81 surely he'd be able to contact one closer to home. A non-White one. You perfectly caught Chiun's prejudices in the first chapter then you just go w/ the path most taken which in no way fits them. Shame, it was a great 1st chapter and there are so few Destroyer stories. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 21 . 2/18 Awesome. You even see yourself up for sequels, which is very in genre with both the Destroyer and Harry Potter series. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 20 . 2/18 It was amazing how Chuin learned and adapted to the Dementors, but Voldemort should have know better than single target spells. He could have used transfiguration and wide area charms to control the battlefield alongside his gaseous movement technique. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 19 . 2/18 If you have read this chapter then you know what I mean when I say that is the coolest way to surprise people I've ever seen and obviously the foreshadowing was repeated many times, but each time I interpreted it incorrectly. I'm so impressed. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 17 . 2/17 I'm surprised Hedwig hasn't shown up for some reason. I must have missed the story line that she is in Sinanju hunting fish for the children. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 16 . 2/17 Chuin is the personality of that relative with no filter and the hearing of the worst gossip, yet he is my favorite character. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 15 . 2/17 Nice, Snape is a good bond villain. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 14 . 2/17 This has become a super crossover and I'm not sure if our heroes are going to survive. Voldemort is intelligent and calm. He's been acquiring more information on Harry and Harry is slow to notice. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 13 . 2/17 Very interesting. I was hoping for a mental component of Sinanju to come into play against the dementors, but I'm sure Chuin will know how to deal with them. Great job with Snape and Mcgonagall. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 12 . 2/17 You are right to leave cliff hangers. I enjoy them, it sets you up for another chapter, and I think it gives people time to contemplate the coming events. The previous chapter when the highlands were breathing was a good opportunity to leave that mystery unanswered until a later chapter, but you kept the action and pacing up and fit it all into one. I still like that you didnt have Harry figure it out or remember a lesson from Chiun or Remo or Remus at the right time. You let the suspense build. Also I'm glad I read the clues right between Harry and Hermione. You have been setting that up for many chapters. Them getting into their relationship that way was a bit unexpected, but surprising and curveballs are good. I do feel that Snape becoming headmaster was a bit of a forced narrative. You want the story to progress to that point, but didn't set it up with a few behind the scenes at the Ministry elements, so as you read it just feels incongruous. I can understand ways it could have happened and reasons were given and clearly the Ministry is corrupt, but saying in a few words doesn't satisfy like having shown scenes of the Ministry hearing or Pius declaring things with fuzzy eyes. Granted this type of thing does raise the level of surprise and being surprising is one of your strong suits, so I can't fault you for doing what comes naturally and effectively. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 11 . 2/17 That was really cool with the giant foreshadowing. I thought it could have been a dragon or earth elemental. I like how you handled it. I didnt realize that with the right application of Sinanju you can control and produce fire and illusions. Presumably Chiun could do the same. Also, Hermione is so adorable around Harry. Their inability to communicate deeper emotions and connect is very teen rom com. I should say that is how I'm interpreting things. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 9 . 2/17 Harry didnt even ask where Voldemort was... I'm not enthused by his willingness to investigate his hunches, but it does make the story more tense. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 8 . 2/16 Jeez, Hermione is a very particular person. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 7 . 2/16 Amazing. I'm really glad that you made the marauders map so powerful, because it makes for an interesting problem for Sinanju. Also thank you for the notes at the bottom. I'm finding this really interesting and a peak behind the curtain helps elucidate the world. |
Kudou Shinichi chapter 6 . 2/16 Hah! I wonder if Harry's response will be a mild "Hello, Hermione it's been five years and you haven't written me once." The interaction of magic on Sinanju senses is amazing, especially when it comes to problem solving or detection. I liked the scene with him figuring out the magic on the wall and ways around it. |
