![]() Author has written 39 stories for Harry Potter, StarTrek: The Next Generation, West Wing, Frozen, StarTrek: Voyager, Battle Creek, and Life is Strange. (Updated 17/10/2016) Welcome to my profile page! I write mostly Harry Potter or West Wing fanfiction, usually with a romantic bent or a skewed idea, although I've written a couple of other things as well. I've written parody, romans-a-clef, angst, historical fiction, crackfic and straight romance. If the stats are correct, chances are you're here for one of four things - "How Xenophilius Lovegood Saved Britain", my first completed story on this site; "Protection From Nargles" and its sequel "Harry and Luna Against the High Inquisitor", which is a work in progress; "Get It Together", my West Wing story in progress; or either of my ongoing drabble collections. But there's lots of stuff here. ("Harry and Luna Against the High Inquisitor" and "Get It Together" are still in progress in that I haven't abandoned them, but it's been extremely slow going with them.) I've written long stories and a lot of one-shots. If you're looking for a quick read or a long one, they're both in here. If you're looking for something really short, I have a series of Harry Potter drabbles which I've had fun writing, and a similar series of West Wing drabbles. There's some Life is Strange drabbles and some Battle Creek drabbles. Hopefully you find something you like below. Like most authors, I love reviews, and if you have anything you want to ask me about any of my stories, please feel free to PM me. And people seem to want to know a little bit about the author, so here you go, anyone who's interested. I'm a forty-two-year-old professional living in Western Canada whose interests include fanfiction (rather obviously), history, politics, watching various team sports, mixing cocktails, drinking craft beer, and playing board games. I first wrote fanfic in 1998, and have been writing it somewhat continuously since 2011. My pen-name is a background character in James Blish's "Cities in Flight" series of novels from the 1950s. My current author avatar is Prince Rupert of the Rhine. On Harry Potter canon, I haven't been following Pottermore, and I don't particularly plan on incorporating any of the changes J. K. Rowling continues to make to Harry Potter canon post-publication via Pottermore, interviews, plays, films and whatnot. My perspective is that if it isn't in the books, it isn't canon, and I'm going to adopt it only if I like it or think it's useful to my story. There's not going to be a Rolf Scamander in most of my stories, for example, although he's there in "Pair the Spare". Luna's mother's name is not going to be Pandora unless I so decide. And my Dolores Umbridge is a Hufflepuff, despite what Pottermore says - not least of which because I think having every evil wizard and witch be in Slytherin is far too cliché. Ultimately, this is fanfiction, and if I wasn't going to be messing with canon, I wouldn't be writing it in the first place! For a more tongue-in-cheek look at this issue, see Chapter 50 of my Harry Potter Drabble Pit. Thanks for reading my stories. |
