The refusal was hardly surprising after the piss poor introduction given by minerva and the assumptions of all of them that harry had any idea of magic or his place in the magic world. And why would he as his non-magical relatives could hardly be expected to have any of that information. I loved this story as i've grown to hate the british WW and the ghastly hogwarts experience so it's always great when harry gets away to have a happy life elsewhere. Thanks so much for this story. (I also enjoyed your story about hermione's interview which was a very interesting perspective on hermione's limitations.)

This was really well written and developed!
I wonder if Harry would later on adopt a black stray and keep him as his pet. And I wonder if he would ever cross paths with others, maybe playing a football game during the summer with a bunch of kids, one among them whose name is Dean.
Maybe a girl named Sally-Anne Perks would join him at school his third year and stare at him wide-eyed for a moment before moving on.
Or perhaps he would be helping at a house renovation where the Creevey family lives, who have two children a bit younger than him, one of which likes to take pictures of each stage of the process. (Would Colin later show the pictures to his friends where they would see Harry Potter standing in the background? Or would none of them notice and just see the muggle constructor's assistant).
Maybe one day Hermione would meet him through a cousin's birthday party and wonder at all she missed out on without a second thought.
Who knows? But I love the idea of it.

Dear lord above, why do I like your stories so much?

Seriously, great premise and execution! I really love your interpretation of the characters here, especially the Dursley's. You made them out to be neglectful and arrogant, yet they seemed to be more humane than their book counterparts. Thank goodness for that! Plus, you made all three of those horrible people to have a modicum of respectability, but still retained their book counterpart's characters (husky, sour expression, etc). Interesting style and inclusion of the original elements.

I especially like how Harry just noped at the idea of magic (similar to what happened in the first book), and just wanted to be an architect. Honestly, this should have happened. It seemed that he found the first group of people who had faith in him and his abilities and he managed to flourish in a way that was part of his world and would help him grow in that same world.

Oh, and the professor's reactions were priceless. Shame that you didn't include Snape here, but hey, we got Quirrel!

Nothing they could do about it? They need to visit some of the AUs of other ff writers. The characters there harass Harry and enact all kinds of laws and edicts forcing Harry to stay in the Magical world, even after he has defeated Riddle. Your AU is composed of Witches and Wizards who possess unnaturally good behavior and an unheard of level of respect for opinions that differ from their own. It doesn't sound like Dumbledore at all.

I loved this story. I think I laughed almost as much as Voldemort.

I've been writing one where Vernon got cunning, pushed Harry, and got him into Smeltings early so Harry was too invested in the muggles world. I gave Smeltings a combined cadet force group and Harry wants to fly Harriers off Carriers, and brooms are rather beneath him. He gets effectively kidnapped [I wonder if you are going to do the same] and spends his time at Hogwarts studying chemistry and, among other things, making explosives and engaging in civil disobedience
