Author has written 3 stories for My So Called Life. I loved My So-called Life because it came at a time right when I needed it. I was slightly younger than the characters on the show, but they gave me a sort of framework of what to expect from high school/being a teenager. Interestingly, for the most part, my teenage life was very similar to Angela Chase's - at least the part we were able to glimpse. And now, my life has kind of turned out the way I envision hers to, as well. (Sort of.) I had never stopped thinking about the show through all these years, yet I only picked up the DVD box set last year, which really reignited my fondness for this show. I wish I had discovered fanfic earlier - call me naive, but I never realized such a thing existed until after I re-discovered the show and was left with an ache for more. I have studied a lot of Psychology, which is why I love getting inside all of the characters' heads. The ultimate challenge will be writing an entire story from either Jordan or Rayanne's perspectives, which I want to eventually attempt. To me, building up a character analysis is much more important than plot, which is why my stories may tend to have more conversations/thoughts than action. To me, this show was about a life that was sort of waiting to be lived, and was as much about the inner world as the outer one. I am also really interested in exploring relationships and class differences, another reason why this show continues to appeal to me. In case you were wondering, my pen name was inspired by 2 commercial buildings on Hudson Street in Greenwich Village, NY. One is a pharmacy specializing in children's prescriptions and the store beside it is called "Cowgirl". I am having a lot of fun writing and will try to update whenever possible! I'm currently working on Without Instructions, a three-part series, When You Were Mine (now complete) and a series of one-shots. |
