![]() Author has written 32 stories for Harry Potter. Apparently lots of people are interested in me. I have no idea why. So... I was born in 1959 (I'll let you work it out for yourself) and I live in England, about 30 miles north of London. I've been married over 20 year, my wife is German, and I have a son thinking about University. (For details of a room soon available to rent, message me.) I have a degree in Biology, but I'm now an accountant working for an engineering company. Outside of work, my hobbies are sub-aqua diving (that's SCUBA for the Americans) and I'm a qualified instructor. I also coach Rugby Union. I grow most of my own vegetables, and I'm passionate about dahlias, which I exhibit. I started reading Harry Potter at the same time as my son, and think they are wonderful books. I know some of the critics don't like them, but I think JK Rowling is a very good author. Her writing is direct and accessible, which I admire. In many ways, she reminds me of Nevil Shute, my favourite writer; she doesn't waste words. If it's an elephant, she'll tell you it's an elephant - it doesn't take half a page. I started out writing almost exclusively Ron/Hermione stories, but I've moved on. Like a lot of people I've wondered if "all was well" in the wizarding world, and started to explore that. I prefer canon stories, and seriously dislike "Hermione and Draco are forced to share a Common Room in Year 7 with hilarious consequences". Where DID that idea come from? No school in their right mind would force two pupils, of opposite gender, to live together. A NEW DISCOVERY wwwdotfreericedotcom donates rice to the UN World Food Programme - paid for by advertising on the site - in return for you answering quiz type questions. So far, over 80 billion grains have been donated, enough to feed 4 million people for a day. Some reviwers are now making donations as "payment" for reading stories. Not a bad idea, and the quizzes are quite easy to do. December 2011 Yet another annual songfic challenge is now open!
