Aw... you should CONTINUE this. You can't leave it like this as a One-shot. I want to see if Dumbledore, or anybody else when they all hear what Harry's muggles have been telling him all these years, REALLY going to let Harry refuse to go to Hogwarts? Not only because it would mean the downfall of the magical world if Voldemort comes back, but also to try and convince Harry that what his 'loving' parents have been telling him all these years are nothing but bald faced lies.

Don't waste such a good idea on a oneshot. A sequel would be nice. I would love to read about the magical world's reaction to this version of Harry.

Can I just say that you are a genius? I NEVER would have thought to change the whole story of Harry Potter just by changing this one scene! Fantastic, though very scary because if the Dursleys had been smart enough and not blinded by their own jealousy and hatred, and the fact that JKR WANTED Harry to be a wizard, this could have actually happened!

You know what the true irony is?

Harry's parents didn't actually care for him, at least not more than Dumbledore or themselves. Think about it; if you knew that someone was hunting you in a specific location would stay in that location or leave? I don't know what motivated them to stay in Voldemort's territory, if it was them putting their faith in Dumbledore or their own arrogance in their abilities, but they did; it kind of shows that they didn't think that Harry was really worth protecting.

How did Harry survive; a mothers love? We never actually find out the truth, for all anybody knows Voldemort accidentally slipped a hiss in in his excitement for finally having his goals within reach.

I do admire how you wrote this; it shows a different take on how evil the Dursley's could be, and on how devastating one old mans arrogance can be. There really are worse things than being beaten by your abuser, psychological damage is quite a bit worse, and now the wizarding world gets to see the price of their cowardice and compliance; had they actually fought back earlier they could have spared many horrors from happening and if that pathetic bastard Dumbledore hadn't kidnapped Harry as a child he might have know what real love and acceptance was.

You truly did a great job; I don't know if you'll ever consider expanding upon this idea but I do hope that one day you will because it is a well done and a truly unique idea. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Really neat idea. I see a lot of potential for this one-shot. It could easily become a multi-chaptered fic. Maybe about Hagrid, Dumbledore (and eventually others) helping Harry realize it's okay to be a wizard?

That was a very good story indeed. I think it is one of your best to date.

It was well written, which we expect now, but it was also clever and possible. Harry's world could so easily have happened this way. In the books they chose to fight fire with fire, here they chose to fight it with water.

I'm writing a story at the moment about the anti-heroes in the books and started with Petunia. I still don't like her, but I can understand her. What did the magical world do for her? It killed her sister, threatened her family and home and dumped a child on her. Is it any wonder she doesn't like them?

Yes, in this story she told Harry terrible lies but did she do it for a bad reason? Did Dumbledore turn out to be any more honest? I remember he forgot to mention the small matter of a horcrux and Harry having to die.
