Reviews for The House That Cedric Built
nmblack13 chapter 4 . 7/16
I was feeling sentimental because LeakyCon was cancelled this year and then found myself down a Draco/Astoria rabbit hole which I'd never gone down before. How lucky to have come across this well written, heart warming story! The past/present swapping created even more anticipation & the stories paired in a lovely way. I didn't realize how much I needed this. Almost a decade has passed since this was published, but it's still going strong! Thanks for the story!

This is beautiful. Wonderful job, author :,)
bluefrost15 chapter 3 . 3/17/2019
Boys talking about who they want and would've shagged still unsettles me, but this was interesting since I know the deeper context. Still... I'm glad I'm female and haven't experienced this kind of conversation with my friends.

Cryptographic DeLurk chapter 4 . 11/17/2017
This is such a thoughtful and nice story. I really like the way Draco kind of slowly grows into the person we see in 2018 - that it's not that he's just suddenly accepting of Hannah Abbott and rethinking his views of the war, that he really is just tired and afraid back in 1999. I really enjoyed how you wrote the growing relationship with Astoria - how they ended up bonding over having this project together, how they kept this distance between them because so much of what they do is about image and, well, the process of building. And the supporting cast was great as well. I loved Neville and Hannah and Dean and Parvati and everyone~ The conflict regarding Goyle was also great. And I liked how you used ledgers and letters and lists to format parts of the story - these things often seem intrusive in works, i've found, but it was really seamless here. Thank you for writing! I enjoyed a lot!
Forever Written in the Stars chapter 3 . 8/14/2017
I love how you're breaking the mold with your character development here. I like how you've stepped away from the "Draco Malloy as Slytherin sex god" narrative as well as the "Greengrass sisters as ice princesses." I think it's interesting how despite how nothing was said about the Greengrasses in canon, they are overwhelmingly written with the same characteristics. I like how you've done something different here by portraying Astoria as passionate and outspoken. You've done a beautiful job.
Guest chapter 4 . 2/12/2017
Where do I begin? I followed some links for Bond and ended up reading this. *sigh* It was lovely. Thank you for a strong Astoria, she's usually just a weak, throw away bitch, I thoroughly enjoyed your version of her. And your Draco, your writing always seems to capture him well- a bitter and angry jerk but human and able to change. Flawed but salvageable. I always wondered what happened in between the end of the war and the scene on the platform, I like what you did with that time period
superfluousdelights chapter 4 . 6/14/2016
This was fantastic! I loved how you included different forms of media to tell the story. It's a shame how little reviewed this story is because it honestly has the best characterization I've seen so far. I loved loved loved the Draco/Astoria and I loved how Astoria and Hermione were friends and not enemies. I also appreciate how you looked into prejudice on both sides and also had Draco hold his flawed views. Often I see Draco all of sudden being remorseful, but seeing the change is so much more satisfying. I would say the story is the perfect length, but I honestly wish there was more since it was so good! Reading good fics makes me so happy, so thank you for making my night :)
arasukishi chapter 4 . 11/26/2015
I love your Astoria. ;) Seriously, I do. I've read so many versions of her, all of them valid in my mind, but I love yours simply because I see how my idea of Post-War Draco would end up with her. Not too weak, because Draco would need a partner who would encourage him in this brave new world and still be honest enough to call him out when he's being a prat. Not too pushy, because he'd end up scorning her. I love love love this story, most especially all the bits in the last paragraph you wrote - the shared goals, us-against-the-world, etc - and I love how Astoria is a Slytherin. Thank you, too, for taking great care with your writing style - which I loved! I really like the letters and the investment memos.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I will remember it. :D
