Ten years after Marinette passed on her mask, she finds herself teamed up with Chat Noir again, trying to find where the new Ladybug and Chat Noir have disappeared, and trying to avoid Adrien, whom she'd broken up with years ago.

Nathan has always been captivated by eyes. Every emotion that has ever existed flickers across the eyes like a roll of film. He sees eyes everywhere he goes. He hasn't slept for days.

One day, Max wakes up in a hospital room to find the past two months are entirely in her head. No time-rewinding powers. No storm. No friends. Just horrifying hallucinations and the ever-persisting reminder that everything's false and she has to find the truth again. The only thing is, she doesn't know what's true anymore. Now, she has to face the aftermath or find her way back.

Max doesn't know what her relationship with Warren could be labeled as. She's not so sure she wants to label it. But after a pregnancy scare, she realizes she has to come to terms with it sooner or later. Somehow, they'll figure it out. (Rated M for slight sexual content.)

When the wind, cold and bitter this autumn day, swirls past them, Warren unzips his jacket and places it over Max's shoulders. Seeing Max's life packed into boxes scattered throughout the room stops Warren's heart as if it's been clenched into his fist. There's too much finality in seeing her clothes, posters, and papers packed neatly into boxes and shoved aside. This is real and in one day, she will be sleeping in another state, far out of his reach.

Warren doesn't prod; he never does. He just lies back, his gaze an open question before them and it's up to Max if she answers or not. Sometimes she does—small glimpses of her nightmares that flash before her eyes before she rips them out of her thoughts and out of her head. Tonight, she doesn't.

There's something about the way she spins to meet him with shadows that fall and twist upon her face. He thinks this will be a morning where she yells into the fluorescents of the kitchen ceiling above her all the things that are going wrong today.

At twenty-five, Max has spent the majority of her adult life fleeting from one place to another. She knows she's chasing after dreams and she lets herself get wrapped in his awkward charm just for the sake of the distraction. And now, two months into this chaos, she still has no idea of what she's doing. They are in a fixed state, unyielding. Something has to give.

There is a rage that boils in Warren's veins when he thinks of how many people have given up on Max already. She is not a lost cause. She is not helpless. He doesn't know what to do with this girl who is steel in a glass cage. Part Three of Seconds, set post-game.

"They said I died in the ambulance. They had to restart my heart and there were a few moments where they thought I wasn't going to come back." There are 86,400 seconds in a day. Each one is a flash of lightning on the back of his eyelids. "Isn't that Max Caulfield?" someone shouts and there's a loud clatter as Warren jumps over his chair to glance out his window. Sure enough, Max is standing out in the pouring rain, completely drenched and completely out of it. Part One from the Seasons series, from Warren's POV.

She takes that moment to study the planes of his face—the crinkle of his forehead and his bottom lip sucked between his teeth.
