I try my hand at writing some, too.

I usually prefer to mess around with AUs and crossovers because I enjoy playing with ideas of what could be and what could not be. Some of them are kind of weird, but then somehow segue into being workable. Feel free to review, and be honest about where I can improve (but be at least a little tactful about it and try to offer something concrete beyond "this sucks").

My personal mantra for writing fanfiction is pretty straightforward: "Your purpose above all else is to tell a story as best you can." My goal is not to write a story that's "better than canon", or to be the most popular writer of whatever series I write for, or to one-up other writers; if that's what you write for, then do as you see fit, but be aware that you may not get what you want out of the experience.

Small-minded thinking has no place in any kind of writing. Confidence in what you're doing and flexibility are what count. It's not bad to tell the kind of story that you want, but be willing to address faults that come up in them and correct them if they're a legitimate concern.

Take everything as a tip to get better at what you do and how you do it, no matter what.

As a rule, I'm fond of action-adventure, comedy, and romance works. Dark stories are kind of a turn-off for me; I'm not really about sad stories and/or edgy, dark content unless there are gripping character moments in them.

If months go by between updates, it's usually real life getting in the way. I don't mind the occasional PM to check in, but anything directly asking me when I'm going to update will usually be ignored.

Also, I don't take requests for stories. Please don't ask me to write something for you.

Regarding One-Shots:

Please note that while some one-shots may potentially expand out to full works, it is never a guarantee that such expansions will happen; it is dependent on my personal free time and my personal judgement about whether I can commit to the full story or not. If I choose not to write a one-shot in the brainstorming phase, or don't expand your favorite one-shot into a full story, please don't take it personally; I just wanted the idea out there to come back to later.

Regarding Sequel Fics:

What I said about one-shots being dependent on personal free time and personal judgement also applies to sequel stories.

I also like working with stories that are 1) finished, or 2) that have progressed far enough along that I can pick a good spot to end the story in question. Bleach is an example of a series that's hit that point (see the Deicide and The Lost Substitute arcs); One Piece, on the other hand, is a series that has not. If I don't have a good stopping point, I prefer to wait until the story has progressed before starting to plan things out, so they tend to be much less likely to receive sequels.

That said, I will strive to eventually finish those stories (looking at you, Substitute School). Unfinished work drives me crazy.

(Well, the only exception here is The King of Street Fighters, because I wrote that when I was a lot younger and more obnoxiously enthusiastic than I am now. I leave it as a reminder of how far I've come and how far I never want to backslide.)
