Jeez there is so much happening and it’s brilliant. The pacing is wonderful and also hilarious. “Just take the Bear” is a such a simple yet powerful and also hilarious line that tells me everything I need to know about off screen scenes and oof.

Zuko. Why you gotta do that.

Well, at least Jet isn't getting brainwashed, but it seems like we'll see Zuko in his place. Just that one little switcheroo changes things up a LOT and I'm really curious to see which direction you take this. Either way I can't imagine it'll be good for anyone involved! ...Except maybe Azula.

Powerful chapter! I really love the way the flashbacks frame it, too. I could really picture the conversation between Azula and Iroh as something that could have happened in the show. Unexpectedly, the scenes between the two of them are my favorites so far because you just nail the complexities in both of their characters down so well!

The brother/sister moments between Zuko and Azula are really sweet! This chapter had a lot of great funny moments, too - Azula's comments about Zuko having an "accident," all of them teasing her about the house, and the gag about Zuko and tea. Great stuff. Nuts to imagine Azula trying to live in the apartment in the Lower Ring, and Zuko voluntarily getting a job! He's really changed a lot too, in an understated way. I like it, and I like the moral dilemmas he and Ty Lee are going through and I can't wait to see what comes of that.

Really like the way you incorporated Jet and Jin, too.

I've been really looking forward to a scene between Azula and Iroh and this chapter didn't disappoint.

Despite how much Azula has changed from canon, she's still loyal to the Fire Nation. She's crafty and manipulative and has her brother's best interests at heart but to her, Iroh is still a traitor. The way she handled that interaction was honestly brilliant and I love the unspoken communication between her and Iroh - he actually does have hope for her here.

I am curious as to why she picked up Ty Lee first, then Zuko, and then Mai, but I guess I'll find out!

Hey, probably for the best that Season 1 is condensed into one chapter! Azula's mostly a spectator through all this. It'll be interesting to see her jump into it from Season 2 like in the show instead of finding a way to do it earlier. I'm really excited to see how she takes her new orders to hunt down her "traitorous uncle and failure of a brother."

I love, love, love all the intrigue around the Fire Nation imperial court. It feels so dangerous even if this is from Azula's POV and she's one of the people least likely to be in danger. Either way, you've captured the delicate balance of changing something significant about her while keeping her feeling like Azula in a much better way than I ever did!

Great stuff, I'm enraptured already. Onto the next chapters!

Wow, crazy to think that just this one night will do wonder's for Azula's psyche. The scenes of Azula rushing to get Zuko and her moment with Ursa was so sweet - this chapter had a great analysis of Azula's relationship with her mother and you captured it so well. And I love that Azula's taking the job of looking after her brother so seriously.

So I was browsing for some new Avatar fics and imagine my surprise to see my story mentioned right at the beginning of this one! That's cool to see, haha. But looking at the amount of chapters you have here, I'd say yours is just as ambitious. :P

Cool concept and excellent beginning to the story! I'm so intrigued to see how much of this world will change with just the tiny detail of Azula actually caring for her brother. I loved that scene with Ursa tucking her into bed and then discovering her blue fire... only to find that at the end of the chapter she couldn't do it again. I wonder if that'll mean from here on out she won't be able to.

Zuko seems a little different in this AU so far too (interesting that their skill levels actually seem comparatively even), but I think it's still too early to judge if that's something that'll continue as he gets older.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to continuing this!

You know, with all of that tension between Azula and Ty Lee, I thought that you were going to ship them. Like Ty Lee ran away to the circus to escape her sexual confusion and the pain of unrequited love.
