![]() Author has written 16 stories for Justice League, and Smallville. Update: By now all must know Superman and Wonder Woman relationship became canon ( official) in the DCU in Sept 2011 in Justice League #12 comic issue. It came as a real surprise but a highly refreshing and pleasant one for all the people who love this pairing. We never thought they had the spine to do it outside of Elseworlds and AU/timelines. Even more exciting new is that DC is starting an ongoing Superman/Wonder Woman series! :D Written by Charles Soule and drawn by Tony S Daniel this series be available in comic shops and digitally online (comixology) on the 9th October 2013. I love sci-fi, fantasy, the classics, a good historical romance novel, biography, history, and oddly enough I can say I read...comics. I am an unapologetic Superman/Wonder Woman shipper. Just read my stories and you will see why. Kingdom Come made a huge impression upon me by making me actually take an interest in what drove Superman and Wonder Woman as individual heroes. It led me to finding and loving the Wonder Woman who debuted under the pen of George Perez . The Diana who came to our world because she wanted to use her gifts to help better it. A curious, willful, strong, beautiful, honorable and compassionate Diana. Not one who decided she would leave paradise after lazing on it for centuries cause she had the hots for the first man that fell there. Nor one who stole what she did not earn. Her and Superman's relationship is what inspires me. Theirs was a colliding of two worlds. Both immigrants...one an adopted alien...the other a foreigner in a strange land. They shared the same ideals and aspirations but there were enough contrasts to make an truly intriguing dynamic. How can one not be fascinated by the Amazon/Kryptonian, ambassador/reporter, princess/farmer's son, idealistic enforcer of justice/pragmatic warrior? There was much to be explored and to challenge these characters together than their usual tired and cliched hero/regular human love interest/ or the typical love triangle that existed in both their mythos. Which has been done over and over and frankly quite limiting when I have to lay out a story. Theirs is a tender, complex relationship that has always been based on mutual trust and respect and the mere fact Diana can take Kal/Clark out of his comfort zone? Or vice versa? And they can learn new things? Yes. There are stories to be told. Now DC has relaunched their universe this September and whether we see any sm/ww chemistry remains to be seen. But the relaunch did confirm one thing. The Superman status quo was not working as seen by flagging sales and his marriage did more to hinder the mythos than progress it. Unless it was an Elseworld title, the character seem to suffer a kind of inertia and become bogged down under confusing continuity and lose what its creators were trying to say about him. He became the poster boy for conservatism. Indeed Superman became a dim, whiny, preachy and reactionary figure. He was busy about his own comfort and really lost the right to be called a leader by some of the terrible stories that DC have churned out with him because they needed to maintain his status quo. Which was all pretty unfortunate, because when Superman is written well, he is awe inspiring. Superman has returned to his roots and seems to finally have gotten some passion and toughness from the Golden Age. We have a very proactive Superman in Action Comics. Diana so far seems similar to the one we know. Whether DC will allow them to finally after decades, pursue a relationship , who knows. He is young and single as is she. But they may very well just go the trite and oft trod route of Lois and Clark and Steve and Diana. Retell stories that have been told over and over. And they say Superman and Wonder Woman are predictable? It's a weird kind of logic. I write purely out of love for this pairing and the SM/WW lovers who I know are out there. Yes, after coming onto ...I realized we are not alone. In fact, this ship has been expanding and no thanks to the powers than be. Worse the animators who seem to have one agenda. So while other ships got cartoons and tv shows, we just had comics. It was purely down to fans who saw the inherent chemistry and scope for something that could be done well if anyone had the spine to do it. Other favored ships are. Batman/Catwoman, Batman/Zatanna, Flash/Donna Troy, Black Canary/Hal Jordan, Conner/Cassie, John Stewart/Shyera,etc...heck, the characters tell me who they want to be with at times. :) Feel free to check these sm/ww sites.
