![]() Author has written 11 stories for Final Fantasy VIII, Soul Calibur, Tekken, Final Fantasy XI, SWAT Kats, Street Fighter, Sly Cooper, Shovel Knight, and Legend of Zelda. Name: Nye Thurmond The unfinished. The untold. The lost and forgotten. I take up my sword for the sake of stories that the world must see. Whether I accomplish my mission or not will be determined in the court of public opinion. So please, sign your reviews! Hah! Okay... It appears the usual, overly-casual tone I take with my author's notes has irked someone. While I'd love to respond with an intricate (and discreet) answer, sadly they did not register as a user on FFN. It was a guest and frankly, it bothers me that someone would simply leave themselves as anonymous when you post something like that. Now I have to do the irritating thing and type this. Long story short, I joke around a lot. It tends to hurt some people. But if I constantly worried about stepping on every last toe on the internet, nothing would get written. I doubt this individual will ever read this, but if you, dear fellow, are... I thank you. If something bothers you on any of my stories, I encourage you to have an open discussion with me instead of one-and-done. I figure we could solve a bit more issues that way. TLDR: Please sign in on FFN and leave a review that I can actually respond to. That'd be great. Thanks for viewing this, guys. More new stuff! Princess of the Wild, Chapter 5, is currently under construction. Quality control, please! Dear lord. I just read ANOTHER terribad fic. Derp. Brain bleach, PLEASE. I couldn't help but leave a scalding, scathing review for it because I needed to point out to the other vapid idiots (besides one or two that saw the story for what it really was), what all was WRONG with it. Are there really so few quality control measures here that we don't get to see the truly brilliant works, instead of something that bashes a pairing or character just for self-gratification? How about the ones that mangle canon and put characters... out of character, badly? I mean, there is a perfectly good way to have a character act as they shouldn't act, and make it believable. But most people do it so badly, it's almost ill-advised for anyone else! Don't get me started on Alternate Universes. Most of them make absolutely NO sense and leave readers scratching their heads about what the hell's going on. And come on, stop with putting characters from an anime or manga that's not based in high-school, IN HIGH SCHOOL! God, that's the trashiest way to write, but it's going around like it's in style! So here's the lo-down on my reviews from now on. They're going to act as a filter, a quality control in lieu of the one that this site lacks. I know enough about writing to know what's bad when I see it, and what's really, truly good. So if a story is bad, I will pick it apart, tear it to shreds, pointing out the misdeeds in character, context, plot, and grammar usage. If it's your story that's the target of this, shed a tear if you must... but know that me throwing a story in the garbage is both cathartic for me and helpful for the readers that stumble onto it. If you follow my advice, however harsh it is, it will help you as well. If I see a story that has potential but needs cleaning up, I'll be more lenient. Good plot but grammar needs fixing? I'll point it out. Characters don't seem believable? I'll give you my take on how to fix that. Granted, I don't claim to be perfect or an expert, but I am a veteran. If you have anything going for your story that I happen to take an interest in, you've already come a long way. If I see one of those rare gems that have grammar, plot, character, and context all in one package, I will gush about it. Praise it to the ends. Instead of pointing out all the bad things, I'll point out all the things I liked... no, LOVED about it. I'll give it a rave review. If the story is exceptional in these regards instead of just good, I'll give it... THE SLAYER STAMP OF APPROVAL. I've done it before on a few stories that exceeded my expectations and made me think differently about a series or genre. Now I'll do it more often, but only on those stories that have all the bases covered, every wall heavily defended, and no stone left unturned. So yeah, I am the fic police. Write well, lest I become your executioner. I don't call myself the Slayer for nothing, after all... Temporary hold on Princess of the Wild. Got RL events going on soon. Prepping will get in the way of writing. Forgive me, fans. Story Status: LionHearts- Chapter 22 is complete! Prepare yourselves for the Dollet Arc, after... hell, I dunno how many months... SWAT Kats: Endgame- DONE! That doesn't mean you don't have to read it, though... MegaKat Shield- Writing time again... watch this space! Beyond Alpha- New chapter in the works; watch this space! Soul Calibur: The Seeds of Evil- This one's just not going well for me. Come on brain, work! Caught Up- Absolutely no inspiration for this. Ugh... might want to just leave it alone. Chronicles of Vana'diel- Just about all current chapters for this story are up for major changes. Pardon our dust. |
