This is amazing! I just finished watching the Nolan trilogy and was bowled over by the late Heath Ledger's performance, and I think you've captured that perfectly. And... this is just amazing - Joker, Selina, Bruce, Robin, Gordon, Nightwing and a new villain (the Riddler, Edward Nigma?) this just feels like a brilliant ending fro a film with things to go off in a sequel! A pleasure to read.

Joker showing up was just one of many unexpected surprises when I first began reading this. Also you nail his chracter perfectly and since I was laughing at some of Joker's lines, nice job.

Also capture Bruce and the Joker's relationship which sadly never got to be played out in full for the Nolan films.

I really wish Joker showed up in TDKR to help out and well, they should have recast him instead of just letting him fall into non-existent land due to Heath's death. Sure the guy killed himself and that is sad but still Joker at least should have gotten a name drop in the movie, if not a full on appearance with a different actor.

Now I really do like how Bruce at the end doesn't quit and still remains as Batman.

Robin joining up as Nightwing and well like Alfred said he's more at home then ever.

The ending with Gordon on the roof top and the bat signal really does go back to the first film.

The Dent Act getting repealed, and Joker still on the lose, Gotham needs the Batman now more then ever.

Nice reference to the Riddler.

Liked the conversation between Batman and Gordon with then Nightwing later showing up.

The whole ending especially works, and as the end to the trilogy of the adventure continuities with how it sets up a more classic Batman world.

So yeah great one shot!

Oh, if only Heath Ledger had been alive and available...this would have been the greatest ending for the Nolanverse Bat Trilogy! The Joker helps save the day by pulling one of his classic kill moves on Talia, we get hints of Harley Quinn, Batman doesn't die and we get Nightwing, and the Riddler gets to be a tease...simply amazing work!

This was seriously PERFECT. I was looking for a fic in which the Joker shows up in TDKR. The way you wrote The Joker, I could hear Heath's voice in my head as I read it. I pictured it perfectly, too. I truly wish that Christopher Nolan had written the ending as you have (and, of course, that Heath had been there for TDKR :c ). Fantastic job, it really made up for how much I disliked TDKR's ending. Loved this fic!

That was pretty good, worthy. I wondered if Nolan originally planned to close out the trilogy with the Joker. Bane was okay, it was a good ending, but didn't top Ledger's unforgettable, mesmerizing performance.

Most stories that try to slip in references to source material (in your case: the origin of the Catwoman name, the hint to Harley Quinn, etc.) feel dull and forced. Somehow, you made it feel organic.

And despite the actor who played Joker in TDK having passed away before the movie's release, it still doesn't make sense to me that no mention was made of the Joker in TDKR.
