![]() Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter. Since I have no idea what to put on here, I figured I would go for random observations. Also, yes, I realize this is a rather pointless endeavor, but, I'm bored. Also, you aren't being forced to read this. Strange comments/reviews to Harry Potter fanfictions: In stories with Remus/Sirius having a child: "It makes no sense that the child is named Teddy. He was named after Tonks' father." While true, why on earth can that be the only reason to name a child Teddy? Couldn't they come up with that name on their own? Maybe the just liked the name Teddy. Or maybe Sirius planned on making a joke and dressing his son as a teddy bear every chance he got. Why is this something to complain about? In stories that have a detail that isn't cannon: "Actually, it was _ in canon, and not how you have written." Err... aren't we reading fanfiction? Which by definition isn't canon. What would be the point if nothing changed? Why are you complaining if Snape's grandmother's name changed, or the blood status of Snape's father? Oddly enough, most of these comments I have found to be centered around Snape and his history being changed from what it was in canon, such as a Pureblood or non-abusive father. I truly don't understand such reviews. "You cannot pair Harry with Draco! That would never happen in the books. They hated each other!" I point to my comment above on the joys of it being fanfiction and not canon. I actually think that a lot while reading reviews, when people complain about a character acting OOC or something not being realistic in canon. Ridiculous comments in general: A story that has not been updated for 10 years: "Please update!" Just give up already. "It's been two weeks since you updated. You need to update now! UPDATE!!!! I need it now!!!! UPDATE!!!" You do realize that it is not their job to write for you? They aren't being paid to do this. People write when they want to, mostly because they enjoy it. Why do you think you can demand them to update like a trained pet? Stories with 75 chapters and you review on chapter 5: "I think you should have the characters _" The story has already been written. There is no point in giving tips/advice/dreams/wishes for what the characters should do or where the plot goes. It is really only viable when the story is being actively written and the comments are on the most recent chapters. |
