All of Me

Chapter 16

When we got the airport in Santiago I again was assaulted with how isolated I had been in my life. Seeing the people rush through the airport speaking languages that I didn't understand made me want to become a world traveler when all of this shit was behind me. Alistair was doing a lot better since his and Emmett's little escape to the bathroom during the flight. Lucky them as I was still feeling frustrated and sticky from my wonderful dream. Even though I was totally committed to my mates I had to admit to myself that the thought of Emmett and Alistair together was kind of hot. Everyone is entitled to a few naughty thoughts every now and again without feeling shameful.

Our ragtag group of eight vampires and my lonesome human self made our way out of the airport quickly and into a rented van. Charlotte almost got the keys to drive again before Peter snatched them away from her.

"Hey, give those back! I was gonna drive Uncle Petey." Charlotte exclaimed as she tried to get them back.

"No way in hell Sweetheart are you driving us anywhere again. Bella barely survived the first time she got the lovely experience of you behind the wheel; and I have much more pleasurable ways of ending her life planned than crammed in the back of van with the lot of you as you, my lovely lead footed niece, runs us off the road and over some ravine. I'm driving." Peter said holding the keys above her head.

"You wound me with your words Uncle Petey, but since you are such a spoiled sport I call back seat with my little minx of mate." Charlotte said with a smirk as she grabbed Maggie's hand and practically pulled her in to last row of seats. Knowing that I was not going to have to endure her crazy driving again made whatever shenanigans those two got up to back there all the more bearable. For two vampires who had been mates for decades they acted like they the two hormonal teenagers that they appeared to be.

Once Peter had driven us at a very safe speed out of the hustle and bustle of the capital city we were headed towards the mountains and forests that always seem to be a great place for people or vampires to hide. I just hoped that whatever we were looking for was more ally than foe. Alistair had a smaller more detailed map out on his lap of the area his little paper falcon had landed on back in England. I watched mesmerized as the bird took flight again and began to circle near the Lonquimay volcano. The paper falcon let out a high screech as it landed again almost right on top of the volcano.

"I guess we know now exactly where we are going now?" I asked tentatively.

"Looks like it, but don't worry too much Bella that volcano hasn't erupted since like 1988 or something." Maggie stated from the seat behind me. I was shocked that she was able to form a sentence with the way Charlotte's hand was moving underneath her shirt, but was thankful for the knowledge non the less.

"What or who would be way up there?" Rose asked.

"Rose when was the last time Carlisle or any of the Cullen's had contact with the Egyptian coven?" Peter asked from the driver's seat; and from his tone I could tell that he was getting one of his feelings again.

"I don't know for sure. We went on vacation to Egypt about ten years ago and visited briefly with Amun and Kebi, but Benjamin and Tia were nowhere to be seen. Which now looking back on it was really strange because Amun is almost obsessed with knowing where Benjamin is at all times; I don't think I have ever not seen the four of them together before." Rose answered with a pensive look on her face.

"Who are the Egyptian coven?" I asked.

"They are a coven of four vampires. The leader is Amun who is older than the Volturi; he has a mate, practically a slave, named Kebi. The other two include a very powerful vampire named Benjamin and his mate Tia. Benjamin has a gift where he can control the elements and Amun has been doing everything in his power to keep his existence a secret from Aro because he knows that if Aro knew about him that nothing would stop the Volturi from getting Benjamin to join their coven; even by force." Emmett stated from next to Peter in the front seat as he programmed the GPS to help us find the right roadways we needed to get us as close to the volcano as possible.

"Personally I always thought Amun was an arrogant asshole. He was once worshipped as a God in ancient Egypt and has never lost the attitude to go with it." Rose stated with a sneer. One could see that there was no lost love between those two. I wondered what this Amun did to make Rose hate him so much.

"Peter, why are you asking about the Egyptian coven?" Jasper asked in his "major" tone, which meant no funny business.

"You said Benjamin can control the elements? I think that he might be up where we are headed, but for what reason I have no idea." Peter answered our mate back while focusing on the traffic.

No one had any answers to that; so we just all fell into silence, except for the soft moans that we all tried to ignore from the back seat. Those two girls really were exhibitionists that got off on making the rest of us squirm. It was going to be one long drive. Bitches.

Over seven hours later we arrived as near to the volcano as we could get by car. I jumped onto Garrett's back and held on tight as we made the rest of our journey by foot. I was protected near the back, but the rest of my family was in clear military formation with Jasper and Peter leading the way. Watching my mates' move I could see that all the wars they had fought through were ingrained in every step they took. Right before we reached the base of the volcano Peter put his hand out for all of us to stop. Jasper was taking large breaths of air that he didn't need, but I could tell that he was taking in every scent in the air. Tasting it for any useful information. Alistair was staring off to the left as if his gift was pointing the way to what he wanted, only this time he would be following it to the source instead of fleeing as far as he could in the other direction as he could.

With a tip of both Jasper and Alistair's heads to the left we took off again in the direction they indicated. I could see a cave appear in the side of the volcano; and instinctively knew that whatever it was were sent to find on this journey lay within it.

Even I could hear the deep growl that can from the ground as the rocks around us began to move and fall around us. Garrett kept me secure and safe as he dodge the boulders that wanted to block our way into the cave. I could see right in the entrance there was a dark skinned teenage boy with short jet black hair staring straight at our group. What was the most shocking thing about his appearance was that instead of normal red or black eyes that I was used to seeing on vampires, his were pure white. He reminded me a little of the character Storm from the X-men comics that Jake and pack liked the read. Scary shit let me tell you.

"Who are you and what business do you have invading my territory?" Benjamin, I was guessing seeing as the ground was beginning to crack beneath our feet, asked in a stern accented tone.

"We mean you no harm. I am Jasper Whitlock; and I believe that you have met my sister and brother Rosalie and Emmett in the past?" Jasper stated firmly, but I could tell that he was sending out calming and trustworthy vibes out to the Egyptian.

"Cullen's!" Benjamin hissed in contempt

"No longer, we left Carlisle and the rest of his coven out of fear for our safety." Emmett stated while standing slightly in front of Rosalie and Alistair.

"How do I know you haven't come to collect me and turn me in to Amun and the rest of his want-to-be Gods?" Benjamin asked, but I could already feel that he was easing up on his gift as the ground began to settle with every passing second.

"The Cullen's are after my family just as much as they seem to be after you and I am guessing Tia as well. We just want to talk; as we were advised that you might have some vital information to help us." Jasper stated, taking the leader position in this stand off.

"Tia is dead, Carlisle killed her because she had no useful powers for him to exploit." Benjamin stated with a sad shake of his head as if he was trying to get rid of whatever bad memory he was thinking of.

"I'm truly sorry for your loss. May we and the rest of my family come inside your home and talk? My female mate, Bella, is human and shouldn't be around these falling rocks." Jasper asked.

"I apologize for putting your mate in danger, but I can never be too careful these days." Benjamin stated as he stepped out of the entrance of the cave so that we enter. Once we were all inside the boulders that had just fallen at our feet closed the entrance behind us.

"Just in case you were followed." The Egyptian stated as he led all of us deeper into the active volcano. Yeah, no danger to the one human there was what I thought as the darkness consumed us.

After a few minutes of walking at human speed the small tunnel opened up into a large living space that was filled with several couches and tables filled to the brim with books and stacks of paper. What really took me by shock was that the large cave was not empty, but that there was one man and two women standing guard near a rear entrance; watching us with weary confusion.

"Tia was never my mate, but my cousin that I rescued from an abusive marriage. This is my mate Huilen, her nephew Nahuel, and his little sister Jennifer." Benjamin introduced us.

"What are you?" Alistair asked out of the blue as he looked as Nahuel and Jennifer in pure confusion.

"Hybrids, half vampire and half human." Nahuel answered in a deep, but not a melodic voice as other vampires possessed, as he stared straight at me as if I was the answer to all his prayers. The only thought I could think at that second was what rabbit whole did Alice send us down now?

So was it worth the wait?
