This is a wonderful story. I hope that soon you will find time in your life to come back, even though it had bee nearly twelve years. TWELVE YEARS! Wow. Life, job, family? can get in the way of hobbies. If you feel that it will never be a thing, perhaps a summary of what you wanted? This is very good and a shame to not be finished. :)

He could have simply spilled the drink you know. Did he really had to drink it.
He saw that her drink might be poisoned so in order to save her, he drank it instead.
You really must be some special kind of stupid to write something like that.

Gods these childish tentrums. It might be a more natural reaction for him to cry on his mother's embrace but that doesn't make it any nicer to read
