Author has written 11 stories for Spider-Man, Warcraft, Bones, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Stargate: SG-1, and Harry Potter. Hi everyone! I'm fascinated by popular culture forms, and the way they shape, and are shaped by, their cultural context. I probably should have studied comparative literature in university, but I took music instead. Oh well! I have to apologize for a couple of my older fics. I had outlines and scenes all planned out, but I was stupid enough not to back them up and my laptop was stolen several years ago. So, unfortunately, All About the Girl and Haunted are unlikely to be updated anytime soon, if at all. Sorry to those of you who were reading those. I like: Sherlock, Castle, Bones, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Remington Steele, Hunger Games, the Narnia books, Lord of the Rings (books and movies), Spider-Man (Peter David's novelizations are fantastic), Dee Henderson's O'Malley series and Uncommon Heroes series, Magnus by Sigmund Brouwer, the Left Behind series, Anne of Green Gables, CSI, Numb3rs, NCIS, JAG, Stargate SG-1, MacGyver (the original show, not the new one), Star Trek, Star Wars, Spaceballs, Princess Bride (especially the book!!), Harry Potter, Avatar: the Last Airbender (but not the live-action movie), Miraculous Ladybug, the Dragon Prince... ...the list just keeps going on and on. Basically anything that's well-written/well-played out and has more than one thing in it - i.e., not just romance, not just crime, not just comedy, etc. I dislike: Unexplained OOC-ness, reviews that don't make sense because they're so full of typos and netspeak, non-proofread stories, 'ghetto-speak' in British fics (mostly Harry Potter), people saying 'conscious' instead of 'conscience' (happens way too often, just like mixing up pique/peak, loose/lose). And for heaven's sakes, please learn to spell "definitely"! If you're absolutely certain of something, it's "definitely." If you're inciting riots in the street or spitballing your schoolteacher, that's when you're being defiant. I also strongly dislike the Twilight series, for a long list of reasons... The absolute obsession of an entire generation of tween- and teen-aged girls is completely inappropriate, especially given the questionable judgement displayed by the 'heroine.' If children are our future, and Twilight is what the children are reading... I fear for our future! I completely understand a bit of escapism and 'brain candy', but there's a tonne of stuff out there that is way better written. Okay, now that I'm done ranting... Happy reading and/or writing! |
