Another beautiful story. You have captured Shrek and Fiona’s characteristics perfectly, and so true to form. A lovely story concept also, thank you for sharing and allowing us to escape in this troubling time

You write Shrek so well, I'm glad there was an opportunity for you to do it again.

He and Fiona are usually portrayed as being very different personality-wise, so it's meaningful that his problem is very similar to hers, and yet also uniquely his own. She's worried he may have preferred her in her "beautiful" form, and he's worried that she'll somehow realize she doesn't want to be with him, the ogre. Everything that he thinks about here, is a direct contradiction of everything she worried about in ch1, and vice versa. Wow. Even his conclusion that because she imagined getting married etc for her entire life, the moment might not be as "special" for her, hence why she's sleeping and he isn't. Almost reasoning himself to a logical conclusion if she did leave - which then also diminishes his own experience, that he's pathetic or whatever for being TOO invested, which he'd have to squash if something did happen like that. ANYWAY.

And his own admission to himself that he just kind of assumed he'd be alone forever - and that despite his lack of concern for that on the surface, it really was a bleak future in his mind. Which then makes his potential fear of her "coming to her senses" that much more unfathomable. He HAS it now, and to have it taken away would be worse than never having known it at all. That he keeps his wish "reasonable" at 24 hours more, and he probably thinks that for several more days to come.

Really love how he was aware that she's the Princess of SOMEWHERE, and chooses not to ask. And that he knows it was "selfish" to do so. It gives the summons from the second movie a LOT more weight behind his ambivalence - his worst nightmare is now reality.

Beautiful needed to be a two-shot this whole time, from each of their POVs, because why? Because their relationship is beautiful.

This was sweet. This is not like other Shrek fanfiction I have read. Most of them are stupid and gross. But this is lovely. Bravo!

I don't care how many trolls there are in this fandom now I'm still very much enjoy reading and writing stories and I come back often to check out if there's anything new.

Thank you for this sweet short story from Fiona's point of view, those are definitely my favorites. Her backstory, the way she was raised and the things she has to deal with make her such an interesting person to think about.

You know what? This fucking rules. Good for you for being willing to put actual, sincere content out there for this godforsaken franchise. This is genuinely sweet and good. If you're wondering whether there's actually anyone out there enjoying this fandom unironically, you at least have my answer.
