A little bit about my fan-addicts...

I'm a fan of Lois & Clark, and a member of a couple of fabulous boards dedicated to the show (original entrance to fanfiction). Been a fan of Superman ever since Christopher Reeve took flight.

I was a casual Smallville viewer until I saw that Lois was coming to town, and then I became a renewed cloisian. Other than that, I like Star Trek: TNG, Friends, & some others that I stumble upon.

Other animated/comic/screen heroes that I enjoy are X-Men & Batman.

I like reviews and I try to respond personally to each of them, but I won't hold a story hostage for them. The number one reason I write is because I want to tell a stories (intrinsic motivation). Of course, I'd feel bad if no one reads them... hence the reason I post them publicly, but a reader crossing space to share their thoughts with me is a privilege they are kind enough to bestow upon me, not my just due.

Which brings me to the following...

Things that make me cringe (and stop reading):

- "Should I continue?" -- If you have to ask, then you probably shouldn't.

- "If I get (insert # here) reviews, I'll post the next chapter." -- Crack kills. Don't sell it.

- Missing punctuation. -- "The river was red" -- This dialogue needs a sign post. "The river was red!" is something different than "The river was red?" or even "The river was red," he said.

- Large amounts of typos/grammar hell. -- Listen, I commit my share of typos, I do. While I try to catch them all, I miss a few here and there. I am much more accepting of other authors' mistakes than my own. It's only when they are constant do I have to stop reading.

- Confused verbs. -- When someone "mouths" dialogue, they aren't speaking out loud. They are usually trying to silently say something to another person on the other side of the room. On the other hand, a child "mouthing off" to a parent is exhibiting rebellious behavior. If the characters are just supposed to be "speaking" and not making faces at one another, then say that. Some possible verbs (in the past tense) are: said, told, commanded, demanded, quipped, answered, responded...

- Pet peeve lists in profiles. -- Who, me? ;)
