![]() Author has written 69 stories for Highlander, A-Team, NCIS, Sherlock, and Musketeers. Since to my own immense surprise I have recently written not only new stories but in a whole new fandom I thought I should probably update this. a lot of it is still true but a few changes were overdue. I starting publishing my fanfiction on the net in 2003, although like many people here I had been writing my own stories long before that. My Highlander stories focused on the father/son relationship between Duncan/Richie, with increasing appearances from Methos, Connor and Amanda. My interest in the show was fading even before Richie was killed and my stories became increasing AU as I started to construct my own 'future perfect' version of the universe in my 'Richie gets to save the world' trilogy = The Quickening, The Plague and A Place Out of Time. My A-team stories are polished up versions of things I wrote long before the internet. Part of me almost regrets writing "The New Arrival" for Hannibal and Face - it would have fit Tony and Gibbs so well. In 2006 NCIS became my consuming passion, the art of trying to write the obviously strong bonds of respect and affection between Gibbs and Tony whilst saying very little (Gibbs) and using a lot of words but still not saying very much (Tony) being an interesting challenge. Then things started to change. Personally I had scant interest in Tiva. Secondly, I found the writing, especially between Tony and Tim increasingly disappointing and I was saddened by how this seemed to make some fans feel that the characters were somehow rivals rather than teammates. Gradually, my interest tapered off. I stopped watching and writing and read NCIS fanfiction only sporadically. In the Summer of 2010 the BBC's modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes drew me in with a similar dynamic between partners that is vested in actions more than overt conversation. I very much enjoyed writing those stories but whilst I enjoyed season 2 and 3 I no longer felt that mild insanity where I would be doing other things and the character would be talking in my head. I enjoyed other series such as White Collar and Suits but although I drafted a few things they never sounded right to me. In Spring 2012 I came upon a few stories which encouraged me to think about NCIS again. Detour's "Fitting Pieces" and ihearttony's "Salvation" come to mind. But outstanding among these was Sequiter's Victorian Verse starting with "Gentlemen of Last Resort". Truly inspired I had begun dusting off an unfinished story of mine whens he graciously offered me the chance to write for those characters. With Sequiter's blessing, encouragement and great patience for e-mail discussions I have finally finished my story set in her Universe. I was working on a sequel but real life intervened with a vengeance and the moment was lost. It has been a while and I truly thought I would not write any more fanfiction. But the BBC produced Musketeers and suddenly I found I had Athos, D'Artagnan, Aramis and Porthos bickering and bleeding and generally causing mayhem in my head and the only way to focus on real life and preserve my sanity was to write some of it down. I'm happy to share and hope you enjoy. Not sure how long it will last but I am not nearly out of ideas yet. |
