![]() Author has written 5 stories for Harry Potter. I was introduced to the Harry Potter books by my nieces. I was somewhat reluctant, though, to read "kid's books". They wore me down and I'm glad they did. The books are extraordinarily well written and a joy to read. For wit, wisdom, characterisation, adventure and dazzling imagination they can hold their own in any company. I fell in love with the characters; the Weasleys, Hermione, Harry, Neville and Luna. I was delighted when I came across fan fiction. I could read more about these characters and about the extraordinary world created by JKR! There are so many really good stories too. I finally decided to have a go at writing a story myself because it seemed it might be some fun, a real challenge and I had some definite ideas about how things might have gone after the end of Deathly Hallows. Stories, though, I have learnt, have a life of their own and don’t always want to go where you originally intended so writing is a kind of adventure too. I hope you enjoy the results. My stories are largely canon compliant, though I really only regard the books themselves as Canon, not the movies or what Rowling herself has said in interviews and such. Books, once published, live on their own and are the only true authority on the universe they create. Timeline of My Stories All my stories are independent of one another, but they are largely consistent except in minor details and tend to reinforce one another. In timeline sequence: (a) Shell Cottage Chrysalis - set at Shell Cottage during Deathly Hallows, (b) The Harder Struggle - Set during the four months immediately following the Battle of Hogwarts (c) Time to Remember - Set on the first anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts (d) The Waylaid Wand - Set about two years after the Battle of Hogwarts (e) Harry Potter and the Deathly Revisionists - set six years after the Battle of Hogwarts My Stories (in order of writing) (1) The Harder Struggle They have won the war, now they have to win the peace. The devastating Battle of Hogwarts is over and Voldemort is dead. The trio now face a more complex challenge, changing the society that let Voldemort come to power and flourish. First though they and their friends have to recover and start rebuilding their own lives. Set during the four months immediately following the Battle of Hogwarts, this my first story. Written over the last half of 2012, I revised it during 2014. (2) Harry Potter and the Deathly Revisionists It is six years since the Battle of Hogwarts. Ron and Hermione are married, as are Harry and Ginny, but a new force has arisen that threatens their very existence. They and the Weasleys will need to call on all their reserves of strength, intelligence, courage and, above all, love as they race against time to defeat it. HG/RW HP/GW This story is set in the same story line as The Harder Struggle but can be easily be read independently of it. Some may suggest that this piece has something to do with a widely discussed interview between a certain writer and a certain actress, but I couldn’t possibly comment. (3) The Waylaid Wand Magical items are used in an escalating series of violent Muggle crimes and the Weasleys are implicated. With the trio leading the way, they must fight to preserve not only their reputation but their very freedom. As the Muggle world descends into panic does a wand, lost during the darkest days of the war, and a girl, unaware of the magical world, hold the key to preventing disaster. Set about two years after the Battle of Hogwarts, this story follows on from my novel "The Harder Struggle" and contains minor spoilers for that story. It can, however, be read independently without any problem. (4) Time to Remember It's the first anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts and Ron sends an owl to Hermione that they "need to have a talk." (5) Shell Cottage Chrysalis Set at Shell Cottage after just after Malfoy Manor in Deathly Hallows. It's been done many times before, and for a reason. JKR simply does not deal with important issues she set up in the scenes at Malfoy Manor. This is my take. |
