This was awesome! It never occurred to me what Gilan would think in the immediate aftermath. And that little slip of dry humor at the end “running out of arrows? I agree. We need bigger quivers” hahaha- did not expect to laugh through the tears :_)

david gets hurt and gil finds out(love your version of daddy david and the way you paint his relationship with gil...it's one of the best i've read)
Gilan overworks himself and collapses or gets tortured(sorry i like gil whump stories)

My heart breaks when I read about Gilan being upset. He's my favorite character and I can't take it when something bad happens to him.
I also like the ending, because it sort of ties into the actual books... Halt seems resolved in finding Will, which is what he's like in the beginning of the third book. Great way of connecting the plots!

Right in the feels

Awesome short! I really enjoyed (in a sad angsty sort of way) reading it. My heart is breaking for everyone involved: especially Will Halt and Gillan. I have always wanted to know what happened in that little time jump. We were Given little hints as to what happened and how each of the characters felt but never the whole story—so thanks so much for writing this, you did it brilliantly I think. The relationships, emotions and responses were spot on in my opinion.

Why must you tear my heart out and make me ugly cry again? But besides that-
Yes! I love reading all these moments that the books never showed us. Especially when you write Gilan and Halt. I love seeing how they react and how they feel especially in the situation where Will was kidnapped. (Wwaahhhh why oh why my poor Will) And poor Gilan. The guilt he felt and the way you wrote how he felt and dealt with that guilt—I imagine that’s gow Gilan would react. You have such an amazing way with characters and writing them that all of this I KNOW happened in the books. It’s accepted I accept it no go backs.
You’re emotional writing made me feel the sad feelings all over again, you wonderful writer monster. I love it
