I lack the ability to portray in-depth romance without devolving into cliches, so I tend to avoid it. But sometimes, a dose of cliche hits the spot haha But, personal biases do tend to seep through in writing, so I do, teeter on the edges of implication with many things. Will be included in warnings upon reflection, unless it's meant to simply be a feeling. I like to imply a lot. So do have fun with the hints! Officially marked as an Introspective!Fic and Gen. 6-year-old Haruno Sakura is orphaned after her birthday finds her parents killed. She wakes up 3 days later, with little recollection of anything. Most 6-year-olds would cry, and be taken under state care, but Sakura is a different circumstance altogether. The frightening thing is, so says she, that despite what they originally wanted to do, she can't hate them. Why? Because Yuurei knows exactly what, why, and how they do things, and if she were to hate them, she should probably hate herself too. Semi-S/OC I Yuurei, as Haruno Sakura. That makes sense, right? A story where before the Exorcists, a doctor and his companion Innocence got to General Yeegar in Belgium after he was brutally attacked by the Noah. I've made General Yeegar live. Yup. I just screwed canon all over, not really but even if I leave this like this, I'm happy because he's still alive. One-shot(s) revolving around the kind of relationships a slightly different Deokman could have had with quasi-major characters. Stories of conquest and bravery, interspersed by light humour and angst. AU: In a world where Sohwa was burnt to death right in front of Deokman's eyes, he murders Chilsuk in turn. Setting off for his mother's homeland, in the wish of finding his father, Gukseon Munno. He makes an unlikely acquaintance with a pair of swindlers and saves a princess in the process, and winds up in a uniformed group dedicated to protecting Silla. As the weakest link in his group, his leader pushes him harder than the rest, and makes him feel isolated and useless. His cadre mates provide him a source of strength, and he resolves to never lose them like his lost his mother. In a world where the Gukseon killed Mishil's baby knowing it would only cause havoc, how much better a Queen could this girl turned child turned warrior be..? Simply because a few months longer as a boy would have allowed Deokman to interact with the Gukseon long enough to convince him of his ability to rule, better understand the hwarang and sway them to her side. 1. Through three lenses of the three who fought and killed evil, plus a little Shi Hyun. [I just needed more reasons to write Shi Joon and Shi Hyun.] Completed K/C-drama/movie list (*recommended) 1.The Great Queen Seon Deok (I really hated Bidam. I hated him more than I hated how Jang Sung Baek in Damo. But the rest of it, for all it's flaws, ie. Deokman still being weak after years of nangdo training, Deokman suddenly becoming weaker after becoming a Queen, she being unable to do so-and-so even after Mishil died. The reformation of the Mishil side even after Deokman spared them. But the rest, the raw emotions you could feel in it, Deokman's desperation, Cheonmyeong's fear, Alcheon's steadiness, Yushin's belief, Chunchu's pride. The plotline, the twisted, amazing character called Mishil. It was more than that, a study of people's character, and how people could and would change. The ending was weak, certain characters clearly missing, but beautifully shot with the mountains, then her tomb.) 2.* 6 Flying Dragons (It's ended leaving me with a sense of withdrawal syndrome. I loved all the machinations, but I rate this lower than QSD, because after a certain point, there were people who became villains I could not consider just doing what they believed in. I think Sam Bong turned into the King he was afraid would end up destroying his country. He was (I think) 6 ministers at the same time. So power, I think it became his quiet obsession after a while. I find that all the real characters actually wound up dying, so only fictional characters were left to complement/fight Bang Won. Also, I didn't like Boon Yi, not as a side, not as a person. I was more for Min Da Kyung. Holy shoot but that ending, when Lee Do talks about loneliness...) 3. The Tree With Deep Roots (I will admit to have hated the violent and uncontrolled, feral Ddol Bok. But I loved Kang Chae Yoon's methodical calculations. Lee Do and Tae Jong, even if brief and few, really intense. Jung Ki Joon was ridiculously easy to hate even before he was revealed. Because I read the casting list and realised he was going to betray them so terribly. I still haven't quite gotten over my slight dislike of Shin Se Kyung. I'm watching the official prequel to this still. It's a bit weird watching the prequel and seeing the same face play different roles, eg. Shin Se Kyung as Dahm & Boon Yi, Park Hyun Kwon as Jung In Ji & Gil Sun/Tae Mi. I enjoyed the occasional humorous scenes with Moo Hyul, when he died I was really sad, as well as Jo Mal Saeng, his difficulty in fake torture was funny, but believable. The brotherly/cheeky/partner-in-crime scenes with Seong Sam Moon and Park Paeng Nyeon were well done, and Choi Man Ri with Lee Sun Ji were good at pulling out how staunchly they were against the letters.) 4. A New Leaf (I enjoy PMY, and I had pretty high hopes for this one since I watched SKKS. I thought that the first 2(3?) episodes with the evil Seok Joo (KMM) were good, and that Ji Yun (PMY) had a lot of chemistry with evil SJ, yes it's cliche but this one was done well. I enjoyed most of the court cases, the back-forth arguments were fun to keep up with, I kinda thought that SJ had a point about Prosecutor Lee (KSH) just wanting fame, but over time, I realised that hey, actually, she was dedicated to getting people who deserved it into the slammer. Hye Ryeong(KYS)-sshi also delivered her lines to pin-point accuracy, and while the ending of her case became much more apparent, I almost expected the other guy to completely own her. And then he got into the accident. JY's offside adoration of Jeon Ji Won (YJH) was quite well played, it gave the much needed gap between SJ/JY. In the end, the main pair failed to deliver a true romance, and it left Jung Sun (CJA) hanging as a very last minute tag on, she wasn't expected, and I ended up skipping through all her bits. I cringed. On the other hand, the bromance between SJ and Park Sang Tae (OJS) was really endearing, and I'm glad that there was depth shown to ST's character, other than just having him as a sidekick. Finally, Cha Yeong Woo (KSJ) Shichangnim, now, him and SJ be it clashing or not, and just him alone was intense.) 5. Splash Splash Love (Really enjoyed the bromance going on while it lasted. I loved the innocent pairing, although the romance was bearable. What I enjoyed best was the flashbacks and links. It had just the right tone of comedy to remain lighthearted, and it was a good, short and sweet drama.) 6.* Painter of the Wind. (The violence was subtle, yet strong. It was twisted in such a sense, but the ending did not make much sense. Paintings were lovely and the emotions carried well. Yoon Bok made quite a convincing male actually.) 7. 49 Days (The twist was unexpected. And despite the overused cliche of true love and stuff, the storyline was engaging. I could empathise, despite the fact that romance was the main driver. Also, Lee Yo Won is really pretty!) 8. Tears of Heaven (Considering there were so few Eng Subbed ones, I struggled through the few more Chinese subbed ones, and had all the rest that I could have Raw with english recaps on Soompi, ToH is still here. It's hard to rank dramas now a days, but I got here because of In Gyo Jin. This is also here because of how hard I ship Cha Young and Hyun Woong. I'll miss Grandfather. And Secretary Cha is good with the kid. But I hated Ki Hyun/Song Tan the most. More than all the crazies. Well probably because in the end he got together with Cha Young - Do tell, how does that work? Why, oh, why does Cha Young still love that ass, and why isn't the kid Hyun Woong's?) 9. Birth of a Beauty. (I watched this because Wolya and Yongchun from QSD were both in it. I got a happy ending, and I semi-supported the pairing. I had a couple crack ones. Like Sara and Team Leader Choi, or Sara with Ji Hoon. The moral behind the story is important, but a fact still stands, that outward beauty still matters. 10.* Sungkyunkwan Scandal (Short, occasional cringes, but I got a happy ending. High rewatch value.) 11. Faith (I found the King's monologuing and realisations refreshing. I got my happy ending even though the show came too close too often to a bad outcome. But, I can't quite forgive how Jang Bin got killed, and then, how the antidote he protected with his life was lost.) 12. Sassy Go Go (First modern drama.) This was one of the shortest modern dramas around, and I got recommended to start on this. I will admit I really hated Kim Yeol at the beginning and almost dropped. But I made it through all the 12 episodes, I got an entirely happy ending, AND, the real thing that bought me was that they didn't win the competition. Sure, the coincidence that the children of so many important people are there, and how clubs are so tiny, but this is fantasy right? Still, the jolt of humanity and reality, it bought me. Also, Tae Beom Ssiem was cool. 13. Damo (Powerful, moving but extremely unfulfilling ending. I had wished there was an aftermath scene at least. The poeticness, with the ending as a beginning, shouts out to PotW.) 14. Make A Woman Cry (The acting was wonderful. In being precise, the action scenes of Deok In were really shiok. Badass. And the villains, oh man, they were so hateable. For the first half, Kyungchul and Jin Hee, their change of hearts, I could consider rushed, sudden, but somehow still flowed. Then, Yoon Soo, when he talked about killing, how he could smile, that remorseless image, spot on, almost sociopathic. Lastly, Eun Soo. How she was slowly torn down was so nice. But really, her suicide should have gone through. I can't see her becoming so nice suddenly. And I can't see how the family could have accepted her back so well.) 15. Goddess of Fire Jung Yi. (Quite similar to PoTW, especially since Moon Geun Young is starring as a female pretending to be a male again. This ranks higher because I got a tiny bit of a possible happy ending, and because the beginning dream, wasn't the true ending. I really hated Hwa Ryeong, but honestly, I didn't see why Jung couldn't tell her. Also, I shipped Jung Yi and Tae Do. Quite upset how they killed him.) 16. Dong Yi (Well shot, and slow corruption of Lady Jang was magnificent. Quite storylike-esque, and everything turned out well in the end.) 17. Conspiracy in the Court. (In being honest I kinda lost the will to watch this after Joo Pil died. The show had 8 episodes, I read the recaps for 8, 7 and half of 6, and didn't watch them. It's k-drama's must-have. If you have a good guy who outshines the main good guy, he'll die. That's what happened. I shipped Joo Pil and Sang Gyu actually, immediately after the library/office scene when Joo Pil was looming over him, talking about how he didn't mistake virtue. But yeah. The show was really about shades of grey. I jumped from team Kill-King to team King-Lives intermittently, and my feelings were a mess about what happened.) 18. Man of Vendetta [Movie] (Um Ki Joon was great in this. Some of the scenes were excessive, and the emotion was lacking, but there was never a lack of it in UKJ's gory scenes. I did like the inclusion and the meaning of the sugar in the film.) 19. Wide Awake [Movie] (Pity the lady, really. But it was quite simple to see the twist coming. Hypnotist = Mind controlling.) 20. Iljimae (I figured most people hated this aspect that I loved. - The romance being so thin, fake and easily ignored. I'm not big on the romance, and I didn't care about the pairings. But I thoroughly enjoyed the irony of how Shi Hoo killed his benefactors. Eun Chae was so pretty and lovely, so glad to see her after Dong Yi. She was likeable in the first few episodes. Afterwards, like in Dong Yi, I got sort of sick of her perfectness and weakness. Seo Dong Won really rings me back to SFD, he cried and begged too. And despite Shi Wan being an ass, closer to the end, he redeemed himself in my eyes. Assassins 1(Sa Chun) and 2 (Mu Yi) can be considered admirable. 1, particularly, for being able to openly admit his fears, and then firmly state what's not true.) 21. Maids (I admit I didn't like Jung Yoo Mi in SFD. But after a while, I really rooted for her in Maids. I didn't like Lee Cho Hee in SFD either, but her sheer loyalty to her Lady was really heartwarming. Lastly, I must be one of the few who rooted for Eun Ki throughout the show. I never once doubted that he loved In Yeob, so I must be a fan of this kind of ridiculously twisted love. "Ah, and see, you can't control your son either," by King Taejo, that punch line, very well done.) 22. Neighbourhood Hero (This was really disappointing. They destroyed the first bromance with a woman. Then, I was put off before the next bromance could come to fruition. Then the women. When I saw the poster, I was going oh no. Then I hoped. The first 30 min after the first 5 were good. Wouldn't have saved the drama, but it would have been good if Shi Yoon broke down when Jin Woo's mother confronted him. Too much romance. Grandpa died too early. Frustrating.) 23. Prince of Prince (My first webtoon. I like it. The shooting style(choppy), plot pacing(Messy and fast) and cliches made for a high energy drama. While the tiny nuances will probably take me a couple rewatches to understand, the well used cliches (oxymoron?) helped pull the show along. It held my attention, and I was quite sad for it to end. While unlikely, I would like a sequel, wherein most(Not all, I like a bit of open-endedness) secrets are understood. Plus point would be that romance is not a plot progressor. Sibling devotion is our main plot device. There's faint overtures of the (false?) romance between Shi Hyun (Choi Jong Hoon) and Lee Mong Ryung (Im Yoon Ho), and they have chemistry on screen. But the entire thing is a sincere progression of that relationship in other directions. Now, if the drama were longer, I can imagine the romance between SH and MR going further. MR teases - SH is weirded out, and slowly becomes comfortable - SH really does fall for MR - MR realises that SH is serious - They have a heart to heart - Happy ending.) 24. Lucid Dream (Drawn in because of the Saguek, ah, almost put off by the romance. What I want, is a drama which has a believable female as male lead. And that they don't give away the secret so fast. Maybe use a new actor? Have the person actually pretend to be male. But it was a nice touch, Ma Moon Jae being reincarnated by Yoo Ra. Seo Ji Hye is really good at the desperate, "Oppa." Still remember her as Shin In Jung from 49 Days. But quite predictable. The ending kept twisting though. To complement the overall happiness I suppose.) 25.* Signal (Amazing. It must be because I'm a sucker for history and the past, but Signal is one of the best modern dramas I have ever watched. 16 episodes kept the thing high speed and on the edge. Foreseeing things in this made me anticipate them, and it was good. Really good. The best touch was that the romance was so light, and that the people were so raw and rough around the edges. The cases took my breath away.) 26. Vampire Prosecutor 1 & 2 (The crime scenes were more raw. I would say I enjoyed the series, but while most people wanted more, the tiny bit of romance I saw was about enough for me to stop. I didn't though, and I'm glad. I thought the Min Tae Yeon-Jang Chul Oh tag team was really good. From that single interrogation, I wished they could have stayed on the same side. Here I was, thinking that for once, Jang Hyun Sung wouldn't be a villain. But he was. Sort-of. His motivation is respected, but he's still a villian. By the end, I could no longer tell whether he was lying, or if he really meant helping Tae Yeon. I enjoyed how Dr./Coroner Jo slowly became human, and how in the end, he no longer tried to justify himself to Luna, but accepted that he was doing all of this. As cruel as it sounds, I think they could have made Ji Ae really, actually die. Not the pretend ruse, but for them to have killed the kid. It would have been interesting to see if Dr. Jo wanted Ji Ae, or if it was revenge.) 27. Confession of Murder [Movie] (Well done plot for a movie. Once Jay appeared, I think the plot twist was fairly obvious. But their acting was good, I can imagine it actually manipulating the media like that. Park Shi Hoo does look good, but I found his apologies and all lacking in sincerity. The schoolgirls carried their fangirlism very well though, to think that they supported him by saying that he really was a murderer. Jung Hae Kyun looked quite pretty with his long wavy hair.) 28. My Friend and His Wife [Movie] (Ah man, and I went in with fairly high hopes because of the synopsis. When they talked about Ye Joon and Jae Moon standing closer, I thought it was hinting that Ye Joon liked Jae Moon in a more than friendly manner. But no, he has to like the wife because that's how it always goes. Uck. I sped through the movie, because the plot became predictable once my hopes were not lived up to.) 29. Glamorous Temptation (I hated the love triangle between Il Joo, Hyung Woo and Eun Soo. Okay, don't talk about them anymore. Nah, JSW wasn't the best thing in this drama for me, Jung Jin Young was. This drama dragged, I fast forwarded a lot, they backstabbed each other over and over, but it made a very big point. Regardless of what you've gone through, your actions judge you, and ultimately, no one is a good person. I reheard that bit in ep 33 over to hammer down what was Manager Jo's name. Barring subs, (though, thank you subbers!) I've decided it's Jo Han Shik. Efficient, capable, strong, loyal, the suit was an expected plus. So sue me, but he was my favourite character. Need to find his real name, and look up his dramas. Lastly, our eldest Kwon son. I like him for his drunken stupor over hard whiskey with Hyung Woo, it made him look precisely sad. Also, I swear, his kid is the only wonderful person in their family. Joo Hyuk is a stereotypical corrupted person in power, who flaunts and enjoys using the power. But people like him know very well how to grovel.) 30. Doctors (Too many kisses, skipped past those. I loved the intensity of all of Hye Jung's (PSH) scenes, and the drama's OST are lovely. My favourites must be Chromatic Surgery as well as Hurt and Heart. The operations were really well done at keeping me on the edge each time! Each new character we got for their 2-3 ep story was meaningful, opening up the types of people who are out there in the world. While I admit I loved Vengeance!Hye Jung, I expected her to slip up much earlier. But granny was really sweet... The teacher-student basis for love faded over time, and I was glad for that. I was actually hoping Hye Jung would end up with someone else, expecting that closer to the end, both of them would come to some conclusion. But hey, all for happy endings right? My favourite scene, must either have been when Seo Woo and Hye Jung made up, or that second last scene, when Jin Myung Hoon-sahjang and Hye Jung interacted. The granny flashback made my heart clench just a bit. Over all, my favourite character is Kang Soo. The way he broke down, then got back up was really moving. Favourite short scene character, probably the father of the twins. He was the most surprising to me. I never expected him/the writer to come out and say that he wanted to die, so it was a perfect excuse. Best teams: Tied between Jung Yoon Do & Jung Pa Ran, Kim Tae Ho & Hong Ji Hong. Still my otp: Crime Boss Gong & Hye Jung) 31. Cinderella and 4 Knights (Too much Hye Ji. Seo Woo was my overall favourite, Ja Young was the best female character. Her loyalty is commendable. I think we all saw the thing about Yoon Sung coming, but for the front at least, he was my favourite knight.) 32. Moonlight Drawn By Clouds (What a sappy ending. I liked the bromance between our eunuch and the crown prince. Someone should actually make a drama where it's seriously not a female, but an actual guy. My favourite scene must have been the one where Byung Yun held Lee Young as the blade point. Because when you contrast it to the prior episode, where the crown prince imagined his best friend betraying him, his friend was his savior, yet this time, his best friend saved the woman he loved by betraying him. But in the heart, there had been no betrayal. That for me, was moving.) 33. Scarlet Heart Ryeo (The marriage bit to pull her out was unexpected, at least for me. Ah I would have thought they'd live a happy life on the run, but well. In the end, everyone's heartbroken. Chae Ryung's arc was pretty much the saddest for me.) 34. Woman With a Suitcase (What a lacklustre ending... eh, but well, I liked the cases) 35. Muhan Company [Movie] (Infinite Challenge Special) (This was good. Signal's writer is really someone to look out for! I'm kinda sad that the music box and the walkie-talkie didn't have quite as much object-relevance to the plot, but it's understandable... Lee Je Hoon as an evil supporting character was semi-expected, but woah haha Kim Hye Soo's as badass as always. Mr. Yu was pretty darn cool as well, but hey, everyone's for happy endings. I would like to see what happens to CEO Kwon - but money is eh...) 36. Night Light (Contrary to what the cover implied, yeah I worried it would be the usual cliche love triangle. It was a dynamic dual-female lead series, packed with very well done political flutterings. They could have extended this very much, to explain more of the 'evil fate', give us more Yi Kyung-Se Jin ship material cough. More politics. I think it's my favourite genre really. I like sagueks with politics. Then after that I like mysteries. Once more, we have the case of under-shined side characters. I really wanted to see Writer Kim do legit hacking and DDoS, and more Badass!Director Jo. - Same as GT's, coincidence?) 37.* I Remember You/Hello Monster (Poor Min. Poor Joon Young/Joon Ho. Poor Hyeon. Poor Ji An. I mean, no one died (I thought Min ah really died, but he's alive err I won't say anything), but you can't really call that a full happy ending. Once more, there's me feeling sorry for Lee Joon Young/Joon Ho, because he honestly, honestly, thought he was helping them. I would rather say Min was shaped by trauma, rather than being born a monster, because well, Hyeon firmly believes he could have saved little Min. Until that big reveal, I thought Min was just born that way. I still, empathise more with Joon Young because he's the nurture case. "A case of evil doing a courtesy." I feel sorry, I really do. CWY's expressions as Joon Ho scared me, the minute twitches were so aaaaaaa-worthy, it's those oh-shit moments where you go: He's the evil guy. And yet, he was so broken that I will say that my heart ached when he looked ready to cry even though he wasn't sure what sadness was. Did he want them three to be a family? Or had he wanted them? Or maybe well... all he had needed was someone when he was younger, to have told him he was wanted... someone like the lady who freed him... What was Lee Joon Ho's happy ending?) 38. Laurel Tree Tailors (I am reminded of how much I dislike family dramas, but this was so hard to stop. I enjoyed the Hyo Won-Tae Yang love line. It was the best part of the show. Also the Tae Yang-Step Mom Min relationship - Esp that phone texting scene, I laughed so hard my seams nearly burst. I can't say I liked Dong Sook, or any of the other females. They were all pretty crappy, but old Grandma :( Mdm Kim Young Ae was one of the best grandma actors I grew up watching... RIP. Bok Sun Nyeo-Bae Sam Do was cringe-worthy. Most dysfunctional pair. Choi Won Young is quite different here, but I wish he had more songs rather than just keep repeating the same ones over and over. Also, I officially have decided, I prefer the guys in suits. I started this show because of CWY from IRY (above), but I got a different CWY. Sigh, no more criminal and scary smirk. Instead I got a super sweet Hyo Won, and equally matching Tae Yang and Hyo Suk whose English is (dayum) pretty good.) 39. Kill Me, Heal Me (To be frank, the backstory was more interesting than the current ongoings. I was recommended this, and I'm quite disappointed. Thankfully, it wasn't too predictable. I was half convinced Ri On was the kid, then I thought they would pull and incest scare on us. Can't say much about the main pair. Didn't like Shin Se Gi or Ahn Yo Na. Perry Park was the best, his bombs though (sigh). I liked the mother though, Ri Jin and Ri On's mom. Picture of a good mom. And seeing Grandma again... :( ) 40. 3 Days (I have to say, Park Yoo Chun looked like Lee Joon occasionally. Yoon Bo Won (PHS) and Lee Cha Young (SYH) were different types of pretty, and I'm glad for once, there was no love rivalry. Kim Do Jin (CWY) makes me shudder again, "He's a crazy guy. A crazy guy who wants to destroy the country," but unlike CWY in IRY, this guy has no drive but money. No redemption factor either, just crazy smirks and power crazy, all round nuts, but the way his lines were drawn out (shiver) that's something I will look forward to. More of. First time there was a villain so good I want to see him as a villain again. CWY in a goofy role like in LTT doesn't seem to do him justice. His expressions are just built for calculation. I hesitate to type cast and say evil but well, did they have to make him speak English like that? Forcing it out when he would have been better off just snarling it in Korean. From the flashbacks, I do, wonder though, and would have liked to see Chief Ham Bong Soo's slow descent into hatred, he seemed so confident of his own principles. Saving the best for the last, Lee Dong Whi-daetonglyeong... the transition from consultant to dog to regret to fear to an actual man worth following was one of the most startling and poignant changes I've seen, and him as a power character. That was good. I did kind of expect the end though, figured it was a car bomb. But he lived (that's good), I figured he would let KDJ press the button, then he would grab hold of him and not let go. Oh well. Can't wait to see SHJ again:) 41. Defendant (Seeing Ji Sung as someone other than those 7 in KMHM would take a while, if not for the fact that Park Jung Woo and Ha Yeon-ah make my heart ache. Mostly Ha Yeon-ah how can a little girl like that be kidnapped and kept away from her appa? By evil K-drama writers, that's what. Shin Rin Ah is one doe-eyed kid I'll be looking out for. Especially with her heartbreaking, "Jun Hyukie samchon!" That said. Oh Chang Seok plays a terrible guy who got redeemed at end pretty much only with Ha Yeon's forgiveness. And he turned himself in. Kang Joon Hyuk could have been a misguided good guy, but in this case he wasn't. Also, I miss the rational Cha Seon Ho, Cha Min Ho is a bit too sporadic for my liking, but Uhm Ki Joon does a great job. Being honest, Yeon Hee was more importantly than Eun Hye. For the first half, I dug Tae Soo's desperate attempts to find Ha Yeon - he felt raw and real. Prison gang was the best, Cheer Up baby~ or TT? Orrishin, thanks for saving Jung Woo, Boss, Wooryuk, Moongchi, thanks for being Jung Woo's support. Sung Gyu... Ha Yeon misses you. Special props to Shin Cheol Shik. cough Optimus err I love you baby) 42. Tunnel [Movie] (This was a short movie that I allowed myself. Should be working. I'm surprised they introduced a helpless girl for her to die. Though the dog relationship was a pretty good one. Shows that the dog was aware of their problems. Short movie, recommended if you have time. Predictable ending but the build-up is tense.) 43.* Chief Kim/Good Manager (Bromanceship goals. I think at the end they were teetering on romance but hmm we'll have to wait for a Season 2 hopefully, I'm not sure I would want romance though. But Namgoong Min as Chief Kim Sung Ryong was so good, the bipolarity of the character itself was carried really good, the transition from a bad guy to a not so bad guy was among the best I've ever seen. Though we all saw the redemption of Seo Yul coming, I was pleasantly surprised by Lee Joon-Ho's acting. Especially because he's an idol, I'm always cautious of them being casted, but I was even more taken aback that they performed TT again, instead of a 2PM song. But he was good as Seo Yul - prawn crackers and food, being a gluttonous sociopath that eventually became human. Above and beyond, special props to our two prosecutors, Hong Ga Eun (JYS) and Han Dong Hoon (JMS) both showing the changes of heart and acceptance of different kinds of betrayal, I often found myself dreading the confrontation but Han-geom took it very peacefully.) 44. Witch at Court (Badass female lead. Ma Yi Deum is one lady no one messes with, and though I at times found the mother storyline distracting, it was an overall good show. I expected much more on the backstory of the factory case but I didn't get that, and I didn't get to see the execution either so it wasn't as satisfying an ending as I hoped. As usual, the show pulls something to redeem the sort of bad character because it's Yeo-geom's mother, but I would have been more interested had that not happened. The romance was a little awkward throughout, the ending save was a tad lacklustre.) 45. Black (Still ongoing as I write, but it's an interesting storyline. I adore how conflicted Reaper!Han Moo Gang is, but I think 444 should have stuck more to his heartless persona to remain in character. I did enjoy human Moo Gang before he died though, but I think Oh Man Soo is a puppy that needs protection. After everything 444 has done, I do think that Oh Man Soo deserves to be happy with Ha Ram. Sincerely, I hope that Ha Ram loves Moo Gang as he is, and not the sanitised version he presents, after all, Ha Ram doesn't know that Moo Gang wanted to, and let the poor kid die. Dropped this, couldn't last beyond the middle...) 46. Memories of the Sword [Movie] (Short movie, you get what you get. The storyline flew over my head occasionally because it was rushed. Had this been a short drama the points could have been better shown but it wasn't bad.) 47. Tunnel (I can't believe that Shin Jae Yi (LYY) was a new actor. She was so good. Also was a little worried that Gwang Ho would fall in love with her because we all knew she was going to be her daughter. Again, Gwang Ho and Sun Jae had a good relationship going on, the dynamic never felt unequal and the cases were interesting. Especially the thing about the fountain pen - something about Mok Jin Woo (KMS) was just off, and when the pen came out I had a sinking feeling it would be him. Pity, he could have been such a good supporting, good side character. But the smoking thing was a nice touch.) 48. *Bad Guys (Oh Goo Tak was this quasi-father figure for these lost sheep but in the end this drama really pulls no stops with fight scenes. This question of, is force for the right reason right? Tolstoy said, "To sin is a human business to justify sins is a devilish business," but does that completely throw justification out of the window for all human actions? Maybe then what this drama needs to tackle is, what is "Sin". Is murdering a murderer bad? If it were in self-defence, is it not the same loss of a life? If not murdering the love of a murderer, is it wrong to mislead the murderer into thinking that his/her lover is dead to impose upon the criminal the exact same emotional pain that the criminal has caused? Bad Guys 2 is coming out soon (December 16?) but it's not the same cast (sadly...), but I will try it. It has a lot to live up to though. When I touch that, I'll append it here as 48 - 2 so y'all know if you can keep your hopes high) 49. Missing Noir M (I'm not asterisking this until a good sequel comes because how can they talk drug abuse and betrayals and not tie up that storyline ahhhh..! But this was a satisfying criminal drama, if you want cases, here it is. It deals with inter-relations and backstory as well, so that's covered. I loved the painting storyline but we could have done with a longer series. Be ready for major cliffhangers and twists and turns that DO NOT GET SOLVED. Red lights, if there's no signal you will be left to agonise over the fate of Soo Hyun, Dae Young and Seo Joon. Wait last word, this was good, I'm in withdrawal.) 50. Avengers' Social Club (Satisfying drama that really puts a spin on perspectives. I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did, but I did and I laughed and cried with all our characters. FYI, the lady's slap is satisfying, teaching all the baddies a lesson is so satisfying and Bok Ja Club fighting!) 51. *Voice (This goes so fast you'll be on the edge of your seat and whisked off into cases and scenes without pause and no breathing to even mull over plot holes. There are some here and there, but for my tastes, ignorable if you focus on what's at hand. So many red herrings but as most of us know, ultimate bad guys will always have their aura. This is a violent show, one of the most, and because of the subject matter, maybe even more gory than Bad Guys, so be warned if you have a faint heart. There were side storylines that could have been ignored and not done, the show could have done more cases and smacked the corrupt officials more and used our supporting characters more but I don't regret watching Voice.) 52. 38 Task Force (If you're looking for a show with backstabs, here's the one show that has them all. Mid-way through I just gave up trying to separate the backstabs from the plans, there are too many that happen at the same time for hundreds of different reasons but it was heart-wrenching every time the backstab happened. [You're overdue taxes of ... million in arrears has been paid in full.] Also, Park Woong Chul cameo at the end, what a way to tug at my Bad Guy strings.) 53. *Ms Hammurabi (This is a legal drama written by a judge, and it is worth watching. Ongoing now, don't expect too much romance but it's good, and provoke a lot of thought. A particular note is that well, Oh Reum is the kind of person we don't really see in real life. But in a world where everyone is evil and she wants to be good, the person that ought to change is not her, but the entire world, because that is right. That kind of thought gets her in trouble but is what I admire the most about her. At the same time, Han Se Sang is someone who has weathered change but is willing to stand up for his junior judges - balancing his personal interests and the best for the world, he does a commendable part at it, adding a needed lighthearted-ness, but keeping things very real, particularly with his idea of the 100 criminals with only 1 innocent. All this isn't to discredit Im Ba Reum, he's good as well, a good tempering force for Oh Reum, but I think Oh Reum is the real pusher in the drama. Okay but I admit I shipped Oh Reum and her Oppa for the first half. Get yourself a guy that says, "Use me if it will keep you by my side.") 54. *Sketch (The number of turns in this drama hurt me so much but I can't help but keep watching. It's good. The tussle with fate and predicting the future, the entire idea if, "If you could see a future where someone will kill another person, are you justified to kill that person?" Also, the main guy leads, Dong Soo and Do Jin have their wives, so then, our Shi Hyun doesn't have an actual love interest, this is not a romance drama. They give you the romance at the beginning as the catalyst for all the misfortunes later on. But if nothing else, watch to see how the cases unfold, for this show to continue shooting my heart and making me hurt so much because if there's one ship I ship it's Shi Hyun and Shi Joon, and that won't happen because they're siblings and Shi Joon turned out to be the person murdering murderers. But if nothing else (there are lots of things), remember the way he says, "Shi Hyun-ah..." so full of love and that makes me afraid for what will happen to Shi Hyun when she finds out. I'm in withdrawal for this one, I really need a season 2 with more Shi Hyun and Shi Joon. Also I can't wait until then so I'm going to write that.) 55. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (If you like Park Min Young, you can go through the motion of watching this drama with me. It's not... amazing? But it's pretty good, and with PMY, I'll watch it. Lots of romance and cuteness, also so far, a hidden shade of darkness. If that bit turns out to be good, I might asterisk it. I think by now, my tastes are a little too much towards politicking and crime to objectively rate dramas like this.) 56. *Prison Playbook (Give me season two and damn Han Yang :((((( This show was so cruel to my heart. Tbh I didn't feel the main love line. And Han Yang is so shippable with anyone and everyone. Now, give me season two and more Han Yang since you shipped him back to jail. But Joon Ho and Je Hyeok are really relationship goals. Give us post-prison life do-overs and get-togethers, please fix the series with a better ending for everyone.) 57. Stranger/Secret Forest (I am hopeful, because people say this might get a second season. At the beginning, I've dropped this drama before, but I'm glad I decided to stick to this this time. It was good. Also, Han Yang was in this. That was another plus. I did enjoy this quite thoroughly, how the entire thing played out, though, could have been more convincing? The team dynamics were so good but Lee Kyu Hyeong broke everyone again...) 58. Life on Mars (Korean) (What sort of ending was that :( Also, totally not for the real world loveline, but past world love line would be a little too forced, I really liked the sibling relationship going on, but I loved particularly how Han Tae Joo gave Yoon Na Young the strength to believe in herself. I have to say I still don't agree with how Kang Dong Cheol works, but as long as he keeps Tae Joo safe then, I guess I can't complain. Sheesh give us a sequel and explain things, then I'll * you, but yeah, worth watching. I have to say I loved watching the intro bit each episode "Am I dreaming, is this real, what am I here for, am I going insane?" each reminder dragging me into his story.) 59. Suits (Korean) (Give me more bromance lol but darn if their fist bump isn't cute. Also hey, deliver on the romance if you're going to legit start up a love line.) 60. *Voice 2 (Not much to say, I really like this series.) 61. Your Honour (Lee Yoo Young again~ Love her in her new role, and the Judge Han Kang Ho is beginning to grow on me, if only because of how good Judge Song So Eun is.) 62. *Investigation Couple/Partners for Justice (Please tell me a sequel is coming up soon, I've never felt so strongly for a romance line before. At least give Eun Sol a solid pair (honestly either Kang Hyun and Baek Beom works, honestly, they both fit her in different ways) Also, there's not a lot of romance other than the side one and plot line moving ones. Yes, this is the one show where bad chaebol sons actually get something they deserve, that has me rooting for this drama. Also, Baek Beom is a interesting, refreshing kind of character. I will also never get tired of characters like Eun Sol, spoilt kids who awaken from idealism but keep thier happiness inside and try to be good people and bring justice... They have my admiration, and I think Jung Yoo Mi was fantastic as her. There's something about how her voice sounds when she delivers her lines that makes her brutally frank and honesty but she's also very smart and good at reading people. Jung Yoo Mi and Jung Jae Young fighting!) 63. Life (Ongoing, I'm not going to * this unless Lee Kyu Hyung gets a good ending. Now that it's finished well... I feel the ending is a tad rushed and there were too many untied ends? Also, I didn't get my epic clash of titans at the end, so I don't think I will star this. It was a good storyline, engaging plot, but the ending was just not as great as I hoped it would be.) 64. The Fatal Encounter [Movie] (Yep I'm on a Jung Jae Young roll after Investigation Couple. He's good, but I keep looking for like more? It wasn't very satisfying honesty, but okay, it's a period drama with all the politicking but too predictable. And I didn't get as much JJY as I thought I would.) 65. *Assembly (A little draggy throughout until the end, not everyone's cup of tea, but I recommend trying and toughing it out all the way because this drama gives me hope in politics and that politics in the real world can be done well. Jung Jae Young again, an unbridled character, but on a different moral basis. Different virtues even. The beginning like I said has a roughish start, but when it picks up the going gets good. Jin Sang Pil is the man of the hour. I don't need romance, get rid of that, but the character gives me hope, especially when he didn't out Hong Chan Mi. When HCM played by Kim Seo Hyung actually defended him I cried. I was so moved, the same way HCM was moved. Honesty, pure honesty that existed. It gave me hope.) 66. Pride and Prejudice (Moon Hee Man for the win! Not particularly notable, but an okay watch.) 67. The Good Wife (Korean) (This got my attention to Jeon Do Yeon and Yoon Kye Sang. The plot itself was fine, and good to see the guy from Sassy Go Go again too.) 68. The Truth Beneath [Movie] (Many twists, interesting watch.) 69. *Abyss (Probably among the nicest friendship/love lines I've seen in Korean dramas. Mends my heart, and HAHA if only that bead were real. A refreshing mix of murder mystery and friendship/love that worked.) 70. *Secret Mother (High rewatch value, have watched this three times. The plotline has SKY Castle vibes but is also at heart a crime/investigation one. In this one, unlike no. 68, the father actually really hurt my heart. In Secret Mother, seeing Min Joon and his Appa interact really gives me the feels. There are a number of turns in this, but neither of the ladies are going to let themselves be helpless women.) 71. The Face Reader [Movie] (Barring the ridiculousness of birthmarks appearing overnight on someone else's head, it was interesting for sure.) 72. Pied Piper (On the use of the media and the truth. This is actually one of those shows where the villain gets my sympathy. He may have a god complex, but the things he did were perhaps, not necessarily wrong. No more wrong than what had been committed at the beginning. Difficult to rewatch even though I liked Yun Jun Sang.) 73. The Village Achiara's Secret (The number of turns in this show were unreal. Apart from the fact that Moon Geun Young made me keep watching though her character was pushy and insistent, it bear testament to the writing that the desperation of the characters comes through.) 74 *Doctor Prisoner (Easy to rewatch. Of course, it has Good Manager vibes because Namgoong Min, and the good people we root for inevitably come out on top. The Lee Jae Hwan reclamation Arc went so well, and I don't have to say anything about Lee Jae Joon.) 75. Falsify (One can guess that this is a NGM continuation, but it is also for Yun Jun Sang. And the press again, with righting what is wrong. A brother fighting to save the memory of his other brother, and a question also of trust. Also I really like Choi Gwi Hwa's gangster acting style. The lack of a distracting romance in this is a plus.) 76. Less Than Evil (Lee Seol was amazing. I haven't quite shaken my slight dislike towards Shin Ha Kyun, but I could have rooted for a love line, even if it was just for Sun Jae to toy with Tae Seok) 77. Svaha the Sixth Finger [Movie] (About what you get on the package, a movie heavily critical of organised religions at large. Interesting crime, but what a twisty ending.) 78. Item (Shin Rin Ah is the brightest light in this drama, hearing her call out to her samchon is enough to light the screen. The Koo Dong Young/Seo Yo Han arc tugs at heart strings. Overall, a simple enough concept with clear enough lines.) 79. Kingdom (Ju Ji Hoon here again, but Bae Do Na is back! I'm waiting for Kingdom 2 to come out, but zombies here. The storyline is easy to follow, and we all saw the Queen and her kid coming.) 80. Because I Love You [Movie] (Kim Yoo Jung as Scully is really appreciatable. The movie was interesting, but perhaps quick romances like this are not really for us.) 81. Confession (When Detective Ki hit Do Hyun, I felt that hit. The heart transplant though, was a huge plot point that was used to the ultimate whammy. Mdm Jin was admirable, whereas the prosecutor dude was respectable when he didn't pull the usual villain schtick of getting back at Do Hyun.) 82. Possessed (Song Sae Byeok, contrary to his face (and I agree with Hong Seo Jung) is actually ridiculously cute as Kang Pil Sung. I love the dynamic between the two leads, though it is occasionally ruined by the sheer OP-ness of main villian Oh Soo Hyeok) 83. Horse Doctor (Took me a long time to get about to watching this, was difficult to see Lee Yo Won here when all I remember is her in QSD, and she arguably was weaker in this drama. Still, I stayed more for her and Sung Ha than for Cho Seung Woo, though Doctor Baek was good.) 84. Are You Human (There's not much here to say. But frankly, I liked the robot version more. And though many people ship Nam Shin and Young Hoon, I'd dare say Young Hoon actually deserves better. The real Nam Shin is actually an asshole.) 85. *Voice 3 (Not much new here, but Kang-centre gets an upgrade and I can't believe they killed so many people off. :( I still like the series though.) 86. *Investigation Couple 2 (Yes!! Hmm now I need the next sequel. I can't even be upset that now we have Do Ji Han as another possible pair, because can you imagine, if Eun Sol had to drive around a guy in her Ferrari she would own the screen? I like the way that Sally Kim is cutting out for herself another spot, especially since she is filling the void of our other poison specialist. Still, Jang Cheol makes me conflicted, since what happens to him when his alter ego is the one doing the killing? Kal Dae Cheol needs to go.) 87. Juror 8 [Movie] (Park Hyung Sik is giving us Suits vibes again with another law-themed show. But other than Moon So Ri who shows the same wonderful strength as in Life, I also liked the growth of the girl. Let's face it, most movies don't let such things happen to the 'sides', but when the secretary stood up for himself, that was meaningful.) 88. Tale of Nokdu (This is one of the most horrific second lead turn villain shows I will remember. He loves the girl so much that he ruins his plans for her, but still goes along on the rest of the way? I wish, if I could wish, that Nok Du saved the King. After everything, there's still something left to be reclaimed. But aside from these strong characters, Kim Ssook was really cool, and Nok Du's brother should have woken up from his funk.) 89. Bromance (A Taiwanese cross-dressing drama that is refreshing in that Zi Han is the one who falls for Ya Nuo first. And that followed by a lovely sibling bond, though Zhe Rui was sweet, he was also respectful later on.) 90. Goblin (This scratches a specific kind of itch. I feel really bad for the Grim Reaper, but at the same time, I love Sunny's strength. On one hand I adore how much of a spitfire Kim Go Eun portrays Eun Tak despite all the troubles she faces, but at the same time, when she's with Kim Shin, the oppa-ness of their relationship carries through. I'm not sure what to think about the 900 year gap, since Goblin doesn't look it, but it is lovely that they came back to re-meet. My otp is still Goblin/Grim Reaper.) 91. *Running Mates Human Rights (Choi Gwi Hwa has the spotlight in this one, especially once Lee Yo Won whips him into shape with the help of Jang Hyun Sung. It's funny, but also serious, on point editing and some slap stick. Yoon Seo and Hong Tae have a good working partnership that could absolutely spawn another season. Of course, always a pleasure to see Jin Hoon and Dal Sool dance around each other. It's a minor love line, but funny and definitely sweet. Not sure what to think of Oh Tae Moon though...) 92. Homme Fatale [Movie] (Possible to understand even without English subtitles. No happy ending here, but it was a lovely dream while it started.) 93. History2 (In advance, I enjoyed the Right/Wrong episodes. An actual BL series. While the parenting thing left much to be desired, and the scene with the senior was awkwardly painful, the rest was sweet. The friendship support network was good, and I'm glad for the way Yi Jie kicked his ex-wife out.) 94. Shanghai Fortress [Movie] (I watched it on a plane ride. Uh, it was okay? I'm not sure I understood how the promotions happened, and so many people died, but well, a movie with lots of CGI and fighting.) 95. Love Me If You Dare (C-drama, crime and investigation, of course. Not bad, but it's not really for the whole sweetness. Slight hints of Chinese nationalist sentiments that are jarring here and there, but otherwise the plot is good.) 96. The Untamed (Like Guardian, and adapted BL from webcomic, so much of the BL was censored out. I haven't read the novel, but Nie Huaisang really confuses me. And I feel like the Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying line was a little bit wasted. I wished we got to see the more together before Wei Ying disappeared. Still, the gold core issue really sucked. Anyway, I'm glad Lan Zhan didn't forget (lol) Wei Ying. And the ending for the Wen siblings really sucked. The Jin clan though...) 97. The Living Dead [movie] (Only watched this for Wen Ning and Lan Sizhui. Same vein, but far less of the relationship I was expecting of semi-siblings, but a mystery that unwound itself very quickly.) 98. Medical Examiner Dr Qin (I can't bear to watch the sequels, but fascinating cases. I watched this mainly because I liked Investigation Couple, but this is different. The coldness between Dabao and Qin Ming only slowly thaws.) 99. Talking Bones (All for this. Xia Ying is one badass lead, and Shang Jie may just be a puppy at times. Either way, Ying Ming is my favourite side character, but they could have afforded to flesh out other characters more. Still, Xia Ying is a mystery to us.) 100. When a Snail Falls in Love (This is more for sweetness than for the investigation, but I suppose both sides are good. I really liked the cartoons.) 101. Chocolate (So cheesy, and very painful at the start. But one of the best reclamation arcs I've ever seen. Especially that moment when Jun asks "Why do we have to fight?" is. I feel bad for the first romancer, since he was well, forgotten. That's the limit of my sympathy, I'm afraid. I enjoyed the focus on food, and would have loved to see more cooking and more recipes.) 102. *Money Game (HeoChae non-murder AUs ftw, also, Hye Joon is actually inspirational. That I've written fanfiction for this on AO3 is hopefully a good enough push that this is really recommended by me! An economics related drama, educational but also political and intriguing.) 103. *Missing You [Movie] (Simply because Shim Eun Kyung is really good. Great movie, interesting twists here and there, and Hee Joo, wow. I'm not sure how the dog collars worked in actuality, how they got on, how they didn't make noise etc. but a nice touch. Also, with this I will let go of my Yoon Je Moon dislike, a vestige of the TWDR. He was really good here too.) 104. The Thunder/ Po Bing Xing Dong (Currently watching) 105. The Untamed/ Mo Dao Zu Shi live action (It was good! Even if they did tone down the BL, it is still good. My heart aches particularly for A Qing (both of them?) ... maybe after that Jiang Cheng. Honestly Nie Mingjue dying was incredibly underplayed but low key tragic for our poor Huaisang. A really lovely series as a whole. Truth to be told, I'm not sure what to think about our protangonist Wei Wu Xian - and to be fair I'm not one for love at first sight. I can't really see how they fell in love since by the same logic Jiang Cheng and WWX should have gotten together, but that's just me lol.) 106. Joy of Life/ Qing Yu Nian live action (I confess that I like the serial more than the book. Probably because I am a sucker for a hero that we can root for at least 90% of the time. The novel is more gritty. I like the series, but it's also the acting of characters like Ruoruo and Chen Ping Ping that has entirely won me over. Don't get me wrong, I like how Fan Xian is turning out with his whole ensemble of foster fathers, but the Qing Emperor is right in that everything is going pretty much smoothly. Sorry, but I like it when things work out in the end for him. In the novel Teng Zi Jing doesn't die, thank you, and CPP, how can you not protect our little Fan Xian? Also, Xiao Zhan's character eyes match his crazy WWX eyes and I uh dislike that and his character. Because of that, I can't rewatch the last few episodes...) 107. Tell Me What You Saw (I love the way the female leads work together, looking forward to more backstory. Was not expecting the twists!) 108. The Game: Toward Zero (A story that really makes you think about the ripple effect. Also on the toxicity of the media.) 109. Bring it On, Ghost (I'm not a big fan of the amnesia things, but I guess I'm glad for the semi-reclamation arc for the vilian. Hoping Kwon Yul will luck out with another role soon.) 110. She is Wow (This is the perfect example of where Kwon Yul gets the short end of the stick with characters. He was good, of course. But the overall craziness in this plot really makes me sad. Not recommended...) 111. Arsenal Military Academy (I'm team XieShen the whole way. After all, he's the one who loves her even before he knows her gender. And I like true love stories. Unfortunately main guy gets her. I can't believe they killed the third lead. Seriously just... Sigh.) 112. Sori Voice From the Heart [Movie] (Shim Eun Kyung and Lee Sung Min, that's enough for me to watch this. Honestly, a touching story. Movie hijinks ensue in it. Funny, touching and warm all rolled into one.) 113. *Misaeng (Despite the rushed ending, it's really a beautiful and realistic story. The realism is something that many dramas have a problem with. For realism is not something people want to see. In this case, it's true, I wanted a better ending, honestly. And there was never really a tie up to the original problem. Nevertheless, the Jang Geu Rae and Oh Sang Shik dynamic is everything but a little that I want in my Lee Sung Min dramas. Not sure why, but he's particularly good when paired with a younger male actor. See Memory and Money Game for more examples. Also have one fanfic on Ao3 for this.) 114. *Memory (Again, Lee Sung Min. His dynamic with both his younger co-stars, Lee Joon Ho and Yoon So Hee, fantastic. A while back I only knew her as the girl who took over KYJ in what was supposed to be her coming of age drama, but in here, it's fair to say that that was just bad luck. Yoon So Hee is frankly, a good actor who deserves credit of her own.) 115. Mad Dog (I must have a soft spot for dynamics like this. Again, in Mad Dog, the interplay between the two brothers, as small as the scenes are really flesh out the show in its heart breaking entirety to me. There are plot holes and blatant ridiculousness, but there is also a charm to it. Brothers otp ftw.) 116. *Spy Gone North [Movie] (Like I say in the start of my fanfic for this on Ao3, we were really cheated out of that ending scene. Once again, Lee Sung Min.
