I tracked this story down after a friend told me you're thinking of giving this idea another shot. I greatly enjoyed reading it and have no doubt I'll want to read to anything else you choose write related to it.

Rereading

I seriously love reading these dystopian magical world AUs. Mostly because it’s so damn true and realistic. Humans can be such monsters and it always sends a trickle of unease into my mind whenever Rowling explained how they lived - hidden and scared. I look forward to reading more about this and seeing that population count drop while I sip my tea.

I love how you’re developing everything, from minor characters like bellatrix to our MCs. I especially love how Voldy was so childish!

Your story Firefly is my all time fav story ever. With this one, I can see where some of the ideas came from. Would have liked to see where this was going, thanks for sharing.

Apparently Fwooper song, while beautiful to hear to begin with, quickly drives the listener insane. Now, providing that insanity didn't lead to violence, and was more along the lines of a drooling vegetable, then that could be another viable weapon against the Muggles. Especially with walkmans being popular, 'cause if you could record Fwooper audio onto a casette and then switch the cassette with an ordinary one, or even just mass-produce the Fwooper cassette, you could very quickly spread that. Or set Fwoopers up at strategic points around big cities with Disillusionment and Sonorus charms on them, especially if you can put them under ledges that you have to be close by to see them. Probably wouldn't take long for them to get found once someone thought to bust out a thermal camera, but for anyone to get close enough to do that they'd be exposed to the song and rather useless, at least until they figured out that the song was what was causing the problems and use a scope(which would kind of be rendered moot by hiding the Fwooper under a ledge or something that prevents them being seen at long distance).
Also Pogrebins seem to mimic depression to a degree and hide in the potential victim's shadow, so having some of them tail Muggles in more remote areas might be helpful.

what about what was going on at that time for the muggles? as in Cambodia, Russian community, Vietnam, Egypt and USA problems if muggles started fighting each other then if be easier for things to get missed
