That collar sounds COMPLEATLY illegal. Fudge would JUMP at the chance to lock dumbledore in Azkaban for life if he knew about it! (Both because he fears the old man wants his job, and because he takes advice and bribes from Lucius.)

People loooooove to see heroes dragged down, and according to Rita Skeeter, his star with the avrage person is not exactly high -considering she called him an old dingbat and wasn't fired.

Voldemort would JUMP at the chance to lure Harry away from the old man by promising him everything Harry wants too.

(Sociopaths are VERY good at being charming when they want to be -although, admittingly, his snakeface/current mini-golem body and serious anger managment issues DO take some away from his charm.)

It would be nice to see dumbledore face the logical consequences of his actions.

Considering how medival wizarding law is, I am suprised there even IS such a thing as age of concent. Lol

If I'm not much mistaken, medival law was more "women belong to their father until they belong to a husband" and "if you have enough money to bribe either of the two, you can fuck whomever you want" as a semi-legal...not law, cuz they were horribly cristian... but accepted practise.

Do american loo's really say 'Men' and 'Woman' on them? *Ponders* I do suppose 'Ladies' and 'Gents' IS more a british thing... I've only been to america once, and I was visiting someone in the countryside, so I've never seen a public loo in the states I guess. Lol

Driving in London is always fun. I hitched a ride with a friend crazy enough to own a car a few days ago, and she went down aproximatly 3 one-way streets -in the wrong direction- and had to make a few illegal U-turns, which seems to be pair for the course when you try and drive here. Lol

Better to just take the metro or buss in my opinion. Even in the boondocks they come every few minutes. (In London anyho. The countryside you might need to wait an hour if you're far enough out.)

Tho I guess Harry lives in, like... zone 3 to 6 or something. A.i. suburbia/the wilds. (Alright, still central London, but it's the wilds to someone who lives in Camden. Lol)

Living in London I'd have to say I pitty Harry if he's foolish enough to try and drive here. Taking a black cab would be easier, and likely cheaper. Although the metro is by far quicker and leaves about every two minutes. More often in rush hours.

That being said... WHERE does Harry live? Kent? Oo
Admittingly, even in Kent the houses are classical medival, but I THINK there are some decrepit old brown wood houses somewhere in the middle of nowwhere there.

The last time I saw a wooden house in London was...*thinks hard*... never.

I'm not suprised he found a 3 stories one, (well, okay, I am a little... I don't recall any stores between 2 store houses and 4 store apartment buildings that once was victorian houses, but it could happen) and if he wants a house that is the size of an american single store home, he'd NEED 3 stories to it. Lol

(American houses and flats are huuuuuge! Even the cheap ones.)

Anyway. British nitpicking aside... I love this story! Keep writing! _

I really like this Harry, but it is disturbing how all of the men around him completely disregard the concept of consent. They manhandle him, even when he struggles, and then he just decides “okay”. Just because he is gay, doesn’t mean he is available to any man who wants him. It reminds me too much of how men treat women, as if the woman’s autonomy is unimportant compared to what the man wants.

I’m fine with his casual relationship with Dee, although Dee came on too strong at the start as well. Actually, the casual aspect is fine. Harry is not “cheating” as their relationship was clearly defined as casual.

I am trying to remember what the age difference is. Harry is in the equivalent of 8th or 9th grade, US system... his hormones have only started to wake up. People that age generally have not had time to develop a fully formed sexual psyche. They are still forming in that regard, no matter how intelligent or competent they are. I remember when I was that age, trying to figure out who I was and what I wanted, and there were guys that acted the way you have these guys act, all entitled to my body, and I HATED it.

So, while I like this Harry, and I like the plot, and I like the various characters- even the OCs, the sexual stuff just feels... off. I enjoy slash, and can even enjoy a bit of kink, but the continuous dubious consent is damaging. You have developed a strong Harry but he still just allows anyone to use him sexually. Him enjoying it after the fact is not an excuse, and would have damaging consequences to Harry’s character.

Your plot and characters are interesting enough to keep on, however.

I’m shaking my head at all of the reviewers that are saying, “NOOOOO! I’m not homophobic, but you can’t make Harry gay, oh no! The horror!”

I can’t tell you the number of times that I have read a fic with an interesting plot, and then Harry pairs with Hermione or Ginny, and suddenly the dynamic changes and the characters become less than they are. Now THAT squicks me.

If writers need big warnings for slash, they also need big warnings for het. Me, I think people need to get over themselves. (And it’s not like the author notes haven’t mentioned several times that there would be some slash.)

Now, the consent between Harry and Dee was a little iffy but Harry is strong enough to make his own decisions. I do like that you don’t seem to be changing anyone’s personality to make them a better “love interest”.

So, I happily read on, despite the occasional spelling and grammar issue. (Now THOSE make me shudder. Snicker.)

This is such a great story! I hope you decide to continue it!
