![]() Author has written 4 stories for Harry Potter, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Star Wars, and Naruto. My name is Mario. I'm from Croatia, Zagreb and I study law. I've always been a huge fan of science fiction and fantasy, and I can't actually remember when it started, but surely while I was still in the elementary school. It's unbelievable what people can and do write, and I'd like to publish something good once in my life too. But not yet... My favorite movies are: STAR WARS episode IV-VI (prequels weren't too bad, but not what I expected them to be. Sorry Lucas, but you messed it up somewhere) THE MATRIX ( I was nineteen, bored and I bought a ticket on a whim that sunny afternoon. It was the first and the last time I watched a movie in the cinema alone. I left the place in trance. It was the most awesome movie ever! Sequels were not bad, but let's face it-they were for money.) BLADE ( The beginning of the new vampire trend in Hollywoood, and it was great. Wesley Snipes was beyond cool. But Dorrf was the guy who stole the movie. I'll always watch it again. The sequel wasn't so bad, and I liked it too. The third part of the series sucked big time. It was obviously done just for the money. Ryan Reynolds made me laugh. Jessica Biel...wtf??? Since when a slip of the girl kills vampires while listening to hip hop?) SUPERMAN I and II ( It's Superman, what else to say? Funny, fantastic, great villain and a good storyline. Even today, special effects aren't too bad. Superman Returns wasn't bad also, but not as good as these) AMERICAN PIE I and II ( Awesomely funny...fresh and me and my buddies almost died of laughter) INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE ( Good, dark and almost sad movie. Kill yourself , thou who wrote Twilight!) STAR TREK II, IV, VII and VIII (Need I say anything else?) LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY (Awesome trio of books, and the best movie adaptations of all time! Mr.Jackson should teach how to make movies out of books to every hollywoodian bastard) PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN TRILOGY (Johnny Depp at his best...awesome, spectacular fantastic voyage across seas! Funny too.) NEMESIS (Albert Pyun isn't a genius, but I liked his dark, distopian future...Olivier Grunner kicked ass.) TERMINATOR II ( I admit, James Cameron is brilliant filmmaker, but that was his masterpiece in my opinion. The first Terminator was great too, but the second rules forever. The third and the fourth were unnecessary.) CONAN THE BARBARIAN ( One of the best sword and sorcery movies...and Arnie was just right for the role. I wonder what will the remake be like?) PREDATOR ( Let's face it...awesome piece of action and thriller. Can't be done as well again. Those crossovers and sequels, not the real thing.) LOST BOYS ( Another vamp flick, but very likeable...see Kiefer with big teeth!) SPIDERMAN I and II (Both good, super action packed movies that we all loved. Spidey rules! Except in the third movie, it sucked in my opinion.) MALLRATS, JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, CHASING AMY, CLERKS (Great movies with those two stoners...Kevin Smith rules.) BRUCE LEE ( I wrote his name so I wouldn't have to write down his films, they are all my favorites. He introduced me to the martial arts genre. I even started to train tae kwan do because of his movies.) BLOODSPORT, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER( Rare masterpieces with Jean Claude Van Damme aka Van Damage.) CLINT EASTWOOD(Need i explain? Dirty Harry, please come back!) JACKIE CHAN ( Look above, the same reason. Jackie is awesome.) BATMAN, BATMAN BEGINS, DARK KNIGHT (Three versions of movies about Batman, and I can't decide which one I liked better. I guess it's Burton's version...) PLATOON, APOCALYPSE NOW, FULL METAL JACKET, TIGER LAND(Mindblowing, bloody, depressing...take your pick) LETHAL WEAPON/ DIE HARD QUADRILOGIES ( John McClane, Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh...hello police officers from hell! Crazy, funny, action packed movies that are must see for everybody. Several times.) AMERICAN NINJA I and II ( Michael Dudikoff at his best. No more to be said. Movies are trashy a bit, but I loved them.) RAMBO I-III, ROCKY I-IV, ASSASSINS, COBRA, TANGO AND CASH, DEMOLITION MAN ( Sylvester Stallone at his best...enjoyable) MAD MAX I and II (Mel bad ass...) BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA (Kurt Russel is hilarious here.) INDEPENDANCE DAY (Aliens , spaceships, big explosions...and Will Smith) MEN IN BLACK (Aliens , spaceships, big explosions...and Will Smith) FACE OFF (Face off, new face on...ouch.) SHINOBI (Good movie, the way Naruto movie should be made if ever) ABYSS THE LAST STARFIGHTER SPACEBALLS (What can I say, I love those spoofy comedies...Rick Moranis is so funny.) BLAZING SADDLES MORTAL KOMBAT FIFTH ELEMENT SERPICO UNFORGIVEN HIGHLANDER I WILLOW 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY THE TIME MACHINE(the original one) THE FACULTY BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA (With Gary Oldman...great adaptation) WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP STARSHIP TROOPERS I LIAR, LIAR TOTAL RECALL STARGATE 1994 (There was something about that movie..I knew it was going to be awesome. I am a huge fan of the tv show. Better than Star Trek.) SCANNERS I and II HELLBOY I PROPHECY I-III CUBE PULP FICTION KILL BILL I and II VAMPIRES FROM DUSK TILL DAWN OCEAN'S 11/12 PITCH BLACK/ CHRONICLES OFF RIDDICK BACK TO THE FUTURE I-III TIME BANDITS BILL AND TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY/EXCELLENT ADVENTURE ROBOCOP I and II THE ONE And more...but I can't remember it now. My favorite anime: Berserk, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Dragonball Z, FLCL, Naruto, Gungrave(very emotional at the end), Ghost in the Shell, Vampire Hunter D, Great Teacher Onizuka (too bad they didn't make the rest of the manga into it), X, Macross series, Guyver Biobooster Armour(new version of course, and movies were funny), Samurai Champloo, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Trigun, Weiss Kreuz, Bleach, Full Metal Panic, Akira, Record of Lodoss War OVA, Elfen Lied The most important thing to say about all this is that you shouldn't take movies, cartoons and books too seriously. I can't believe how many people discuss Naruto manga...it's just a story! Now, as for the specific genres of the fanfics...I like most of them. I don't enjoy fics that are too much about romance. I use it in mine, but it's just a part of the story, not it's main theme. I like good talking between characters and action. Only since I've started to write I've realized how hard it can be to create meaningful conversations, or descriptions of surroundings around my characters. So I started to pay attention to those things too. I'm not a critic, nor will I ever be-but when I see mpreg in the description of the story I just wanna puke. It's senseless desecration of the original character and story. And it's not even used to create a believable story line in most cases...just a way to express perverted fantasies. Same for the most yaoi-Slash-gay fics. I don't have anything against gay people, but that is too much (in some stories Winchester brothers do each other...ewww). I avoid slash, which is very common in most stories. Naruto fics also show tendency to put Naruto in either gay relation with Sasuke, or in harem stories with older women. And he's only twelve-so I ask those people are they aware it's a case of promoting pedophilia? I mean, a twelve year old and a woman in her twenties? WTF? And not to mention yaoi situations when Naruto is that old...get a grip people! So, the next is the crossovers-I love good crossovers. But only if they are somehow plausible. That's why I'd never cross Buffy and Stargate. I mean, both realities are so full of man's enemies, they really don't need more. It can pass in the form of deus ex machina tool when Xander wears a soldier costume on the Halloween, but not beyond that. Buffy Star Wars also goes hard for me, but it can pass. I think you see my point...one of the best crossovers in my opinion is STAR TREK/BABYLON 5 by Albert G: A THIN VENEER. I rest my case with that ladies and gentlemen and have fun. |
