CinnakinCat chapter 44 . 7/9 GOD, I love Steve's last line! |
CinnakinCat chapter 37 . 7/9 I liked Thor comparing the Oliophants/Mumakil to earth elephants, and it makes me wonder if one of them were to be crossbreed (likely through a lab due to size difference) with a normal elephant, would it be normal elephant sized with four tusks, or two tusks and giant? And one of the more interesting details I noticed about them is the fact that, basing purely off memory, the top of the Mumakil's trunks seem much flatter than a normal elephant's, which I found strange, as I couldn't figure out a reason as to why they would be like that... |
CinnakinCat chapter 21 . 7/8 ...I put Thor's curse in Google Translate, and what I got back was Swedish for 'Fucking Hell!' Though I loved the chapter, don't worry! I especially loved Steve and Rohan's Howling Commandos |
snow in the darkness chapter 15 . 6/18 you should watch civil war |
Elizabeth Wallace chapter 46 . 4/29 When I started reading this on recommendation from my best friend, I had serious misgivings on whether it could/would be done well or whether I would like it. I am happy to say I honestly loved reading this and I appreciated your effort to stay true to the characters and story. The characters felt like the same ones from the movies and most of the plot points you changed worked really well to incorporate the Avengers! Overall, great fic and I’m glad I read it! |
TheLastGarou chapter 46 . 4/7 Thanks for the story. It was a heck of a ride. _ |
tigersmeleth chapter 46 . 4/1 I don’t know if I have the words to describe how I feel about this story. The storytelling was crack and completely pulled me in. You’ve done a seamless job in slotting the Avengers into Middle Earth. Beyond that, the growth of all of the main characters in the story was beautifully done. The relationships that each Avenger formed were pure pleasures to read. Personally, I loved the what if that came out of Boromir’s survival, and his friendship with Steve. I also loved the details: the logistics of battle and tactics, the connection to the wider middle earth mythology. The LOTR trilogy moved me to tears the first time I saw and read it; your story did the same. |
Guest chapter 46 . 3/7 Well written, no noticeable grammatical errors to speak of. Power scaling can be argued to be a bit wonky, but with LOTR as feats are somewhat sparse, I would say it was more or less fine considering power scaling is not the primary concern of a writer. |
Guest chapter 7 . 3/6 Small nitpick about your phrasing of Arwen becoming mortal. It sounds as if she would become mortal by virtue of remaining in middle earth, when rather she becomes mortal due to her half elven lineage. An elf staying in middle earth would fade until they are essentially only a spirit, but they would still be immortal. |
Vanessa Masters chapter 45 . 3/7 May I please join you, Doctor Banner?" a voice sounding like the soft ringing of harmonious bells asked him. Banner was unable to hide his surprise at who had interrupted his thoughts. "Sure…Queen Arwen," Banner stammered in reply. Banner hoped that Arwen hadn't noticed the awkwardness he felt as she gracefully sat down next to him. It was a forlorn hope. Arwen may not have the power to read minds like Galadriel, her maternal grandmother. But she none the less possessed the same perceptiveness often displayed by the Lady of Light. Elrond had told Arwen about the Avengers ever since her recovery. She had made Rogers and Thor's friendly acquaintance at the feast with no difficulty. But Banner had seemingly kept his distance from her. In fact, Banner had been like this ever since she'd revealed herself to Aragorn at the coronation. Arwen was certain Banner's behaviour wasn't the result of any past offence of hers given they'd never met before. And from what Elrond told her, Banner was kind and gentle by nature. "You are not obliged to answer me, Doctor Banner," Arwen began before innocently stating, "But I sense you desire to avoid my presence. Is there something about me that troubles you?" Banner's initial reaction was to be glad that Galadriel respected his privacy despite being able to read his mind. He thought for a moment before trying to navigate this conversational minefield. "Well, for starters, call me Bruce like Aragorn – sorry, your husband – um, I mean King Elessar – does," Banner shakily started. "As you witnessed earlier today, Bruce," Arwen gently took up the offer. "You never need to stand on ceremony with my husband and me." Banner gave an awkward smile in acknowledgement before continuing. "My behaviour to you, it's nothing personal," Banner assured Arwen. "It's just…well…you remind me of someone I know on Earth. We were very close." Banner felt some residual pain from his separation with Betty before concluding; "When I first saw you, I thought it was her." An understanding Arwen replied, "You need not speak any more about it, Bruce. My seeking you was not for you to experience personal hurt or sorrow. All I wanted was an opportunity to thank you." Banner was confused by the Queen's words. "Thank me?" he repeated. "For what exactly?" "My father told me you offered to return with him to Rivendell to help save my life," Arwen revealed. "You offered to do this despite knowing nothing of me or the dangers you'd face on the journey. Many of my own kin, including my own father, often overlook the importance contained within a selfless sacrifice from one of the Race of Men. That sacrifice is made within the confines of a mortal life. I'm truly honoured that you deemed me worthy of such nobility. "I respect your choice whether you ever wish to speak to me in the future. Whatever you decide, please know that I shall always consider you as close a friend as Elessar does." —- Lol sixty mine percent. ONLY FOUR DAYS?! Wow. Awwww ‘you depart from middle earth but not from our minds or hearts.” |
Vanessa Masters chapter 44 . 3/7 What a surprise indeed for steve and Bruce to see Elrond and his daughter lol |
Vanessa Masters chapter 43 . 3/6 Hulk quickly made his way back to Gimli who was waiting for him. Gloin was privately disappointed that his son's return was a short one. But he understood why Gimli wanted to return to the rest of the Fellowship. Hulk again held Gimli closely to him. The Dwarf had a private suggestion for his ride before commencing their return trip to the Morannon. "You know, Hulk," Gimli quietly began. "You should be part of the next round of our competition. Odinson should at least have to earn his victory." The Other Guy made no response. Gloin, Bofur and the other defenders watched as Hulk leapt away with his passenger. The pair soon disappeared from sight somewhere beyond the southern horizon. A Dwarf with a short grey beard soon stood beside Gloin and Bofur. "I'd be worried about young Gimli if I were you, Gloin," the Dwarf told him. "We knew better in our day than to go gallivanting about with trolls." "Speak of my lad like that again and your jacksie will get a taste of Dwarvish iron, Ori," Gloin grumbled in reply. —- XD Also Thor and Galadriel took down that place easily with a song and boom :D |
Vanessa Masters chapter 42 . 3/5 In his own words, Rogers thought the Mouth of Sauron packed a wallop. The last time he fought so skilled an individual combatant was when he duelled with Loki in Stuttgart. The Mouth wasn't as physically strong as the God of Mischief was. But he lost nothing in terms of quickness or skill with a chosen weapon. Rogers often had to leap or evade being hit by the Mouth's blade. The Mouth was equally adept at parrying any of Rogers' counterattacks. Rogers got the satisfaction many in the Fellowship desired by punching the Mouth in the face. The Mouth momentarily recoiled from the blow but quickly recovered with a powerful downward swing of his sword at Rogers' offending arm. Rogers blocked the blow with his shield in the nick of time. A contest of strength ensued between Captain America and the Lieutenant of the Tower of Barad-dur. Rogers and the Mouth pushed against each other with their shield and sword respectively. "Your promises of vengeance are proven empty, boy soldier," the Mouth taunted Captain America. "You haven't won yet," Rogers retorted. The Mouth chortled before replying, "The only promise fulfilled today is one of my master's – all Middle-earth to be his forever!" Rogers broke the pair's current impasse with a kick to the knee. The Mouth stumbled back but quickly took a high guard in readiness to strike again. However, because of the duel's intensity, the Mouth had failed to notice who'd moved directly behind him. The First Avenger saw clearly though. "Tell your boss there's an Earth saying about promises," Rogers coolly told the Mouth. "Don't sign a cheque with your mouth you can't cash with your ass." The Mouth of Sauron didn't get the chance to figure out the - to him – strange insult. All his attention was on the sharp pain in his posterior as Pippin drove his Noldor dagger into it. The dagger burst through the Mouth's right thigh causing him to spew a large wad of bloody red phlegm. Rogers's training of Pippin and Gandalf's observation about hobbits going unseen again proved their worth. "That's for upsetting Bruce and Hulk!" Pippin angrily told the Mouth as he withdrew his dagger. The Mouth dropped to his knees in agony. Following a quick spinning move, Rogers used his shield to decapitate his crippled foe. The Mouth of Sauron's demise hadn't gone unnoticed by the Black Numenoreans. But their attention was quickly diverted to the second Avenger that now entered the fight against them. —- Language Steve! Lol bucket. Oh no! A Sauron Iron man armor! |
Vanessa Masters chapter 41 . 3/5 But Rogers also doubted the Mouth's word from his own experience. No matter where they were found, evil overlords had one thing in common. They were absolutely ruthless in pursuing their plans. Particularly once they had all the tools they needed to carry them out. If Sauron had the One Ring, it was doubtful he'd waste time delivering insults. The Dark Lord certainly wouldn't negotiate for the life of, to him at least, an insignificant hobbit when he could begin conquering Middle-earth immediately. Evil leaders usually only talked with their opponents for two reasons. Their opponents had something they needed or to stall for time. Rogers began to feel Sauron was negotiating because of the latter. Unfortunately, the Avengers' best interrogator wasn't present to ascertain the truth of this assumption. Rogers decided to apply what he'd learned from her instead. "He's lying," Rogers casually remarked to all present. "Silence, boy!" the Mouth angrily snapped. Rogers thought he was on to something given the Mouth's reaction. Romanoff once told him that nearly all liars were paranoid about their lies being exposed. One of the best tactics an interrogator could use was to play on that paranoia. "I don't know about the rest of you," Rogers remarked to his friends in a manner to rile the Mouth further. "But the great and powerful Sauron must be getting pretty desperate to negotiate with the likes of us." The Mouth readopted a condescending tone while sneering, "Is this is the best an Avenger has against the might of Sauron – childish insolence?" Having experienced and observed SHIELD interrogations, Thor cottoned on to what Rogers was up to. "Oh I've seen and fought Sauron's supposed might," Thor advised the Mouth. "I remain unimpressed by it - especially his petty and tiny herald." The Mouth was livid at Thor's insult for two reasons. First, because no one dared talk to the Lieutenant of the Tower of Barad-dur like that! Second, because a number of the delegation gave amused smirks in response to his dignity being affronted. "The halfling will suffer greatly if the tongues of Avengers are not immediately stilled!" the Mouth furiously told Gandalf. Rogers's scepticism was proving catchy among the delegation. The Mouth's responses to the Avengers had caused Gandalf to rethink his previous despondency. Unless there was definitive proof otherwise, he had to still trust in Frodo. Both Rogers and Thor thought that Gandalf's words implied he had no trouble with the Avengers' entry into the negotiations. "Where is the prisoner you speak of?" Gandalf probed the Mouth. "It would be easier to still such tongues if he was brought forth and yielded to us." "Do not bandy words in your insolence with the Mouth of Sauron!" he cried. "If you seek my master's clemency you must first do his bidding. Your hopelessly outnumbered force allows you little choice otherwise!" Thor derisively laughed at this infuriating the Mouth even further. "You truly are as sightless as you are repulsive!" Thor mocked the Mouth. "Sauron's the one who's outnumbered. Three of Earth's mightiest heroes stand on the side of the Free Peoples. How many can Mordor claim?" —- Good but. And the mouth of Sauron has a slip of the tongue lol Now to assemble! |
Vanessa Masters chapter 40 . 3/5 Oooooh! What could be e device Sauron is cresting?! |
