![]() Author has written 2 stories for Naruto, and Star Wars. Support Tyrannitor's crowdfunding campaign on Pat-reon! pat reon . com / tyrannitor (Remove spaces) About Me When I wanted to get over my addiction to MMORPG's, I came to this site in early 2009, and I immediately fell in love. In particular, it was one recommended story called the 'Tragedy of Repetition' that got me hooked on to this site. My own story, Pain, Hunger and Betrayal is based on it as well. The best fic that I have read on this site is one called 'The Nine Broken Mirrors'. I sincerely hope that it gets finished, especially since the author says on his own profile that he does not abandon stories. I'm a 28 year old male from India, and I hope to be pursuing a Masters Degree in Sports Science soon. My interests, outside of fanfiction, are watching football (Arsenal in particular), scuba diving, watching TV series / anime and reading fantasy novels. I'm quite proud to say that I have retained my reading speed since my teenage years, which I'm told is quite impressive. My Original Quote "Battles are fought with blood, but Wars are won with words" ~ Tyrannitor, Chapter 19 - Pain, Hunger and Betrayal REVIEWS Reviews are Very Fucking Important. If you're here reading this, you should be dropping a Review instead. Clearly, you're here because of my not-too-shabby story, and instead of just gawking at some random dude's profile, you should do what everyone on this site does. Leave A Review. Not just on my story, but on every single story that you read. I've made it my 2016 New Year's Resolution to leave a Review every time a new chapter comes out on one of my Favourite stories. You should too. You know why? Because Fanfiction is not a solo experience. Someone sits in front of a computer screen for hours, toiling and agonizing over what words to use to describe their vision for a character's actions. You only read their words because you care about the same thing. Simply telling the author that you enjoyed a particular line/scene via leaving a Review is the very least you can do. It's simply a matter of Good Manners. One of my favourite reviewers simply thanks me for the read each time I post a new chapter. That really motivates me, knowing that atleast someone appreciates what I do, and actually cares that I posted a chapter. If you're one of those idiots who says that I should only write because I want to, pssh, yeah, I could. But that would completely defeat the purpose of putting it up here. And then you would be sitting with idle hands, complaining that there aren't any good stories on here. When I say that Reviews Are Important, I mean it. I thrive in an environment with a lot of positive reinforcement. Watching that review count tick higher and higher is how I get my kicks. Waking up in the morning and seeing an e-mail alert telling me someone left a review is actually one of the best parts of my day. I also make it a point to reply to every single review. You know the most surprising thing? Quite a few reviewers raise highly salient points. Writing an epic-length story means that I tend to forget a few details along the way; having other people to keeping track of them keeps me grounded. So, to recap, Leave A Review. Make the Fanfiction Experience richer, for both yourself and the author. Trust me, it really helps. Writing Progress Pain, Hunger and Betrayal - Chapter 29: 3k/8k words written. To provide context, according to me a chapter should be atleast 5k words. Anything above that is a bonus :) My updates are a bit erratic, but on an average I tend to pump out 15,000 words every calender month. They may be in one chapter, or in three. Favourite Characters Kreia / Darth Traya - Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords Dr. Gregory House (played by Hugh Laurie) - House M.D. Uchiha Itachi - Naruto Dick There are so many Twin-Boy-Who-Lived stories. And not one of them has named the third important figure in their stories as Dick. I mean, come on, Tom (Riddle), Dick and Harry!? It's right there! Use it people! Richard is a perfectly acceptable name! Favourite Quote The following quote is the most profound that I have ever read; and it accurately sums up my world view: “I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.” ― Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath My Pet Peeves Here are a few more character traits of mine: Follower of the Log Worshipper of Arsene Wenger Fan of Thierry Henry In love with Florence Welch Conqueror of Pokemon games Diver of the Deep Seas Biter of Zombies Tripper to Pink Floyd Headbanger to METALLICA Groupie of Robert Pires (even though I'm straight; that man is gorgeous) Gorger of Bacon Drinker of Beer Serenader of Words Acquirer of Candy Believer in The Matrix Admirer of Christopher Nolan Adorner of Funny T-shirts Defeater of Opponents (in FIFA) Abuser of Jose Mourinho (CUNT!) Seeder of Torrents Griller of Chicken Leader of my Guild (SWGOH) This list is ongoing, I will add to it as I think of more. My Favourite's Section I've been reading fanfiction for a very long time, and my favourites stories are some of the very best I have read. I highly recommend every single one; they are definitely all works of art...or shameless works of smut. I...have weaknesses, ok? Yes, I've added my own story in there as well. Mostly because it is one of my favourites. Make of that what you will. Shit That Annoys Me ...this is gonna be a long list. I can't believe I didn't think of this one first, considering it's the most annoying thing in the world. #1: Selfies. I detest them. Evidently humanity has fallen so far in its desperate quest for narcissism that it has created devices that allow people to snap an enduring photograph of themselves, one that looks exceptionally reprehensible, and then post the evidence of their lack of self-esteem on a social media website. The sheer volume of balderdash involved in taking a selfie is mind-boggling. #2: People who say 'I'm Sorry' when you tell them someone close to you has died/been in an accident/been sick. Yeah, I'm one of those people who replies, "Why? It's not like it's your fault." You know why? Because you're not supposed to say 'I'm Sorry'. Duh. You're supposed to say: My condolences. Read a fucking book on etiquette, people! Don't get annoyed when you're the one at fault. #3: People who change songs every 30 seconds. This is one of the things that irritate me the most. Why play a song if you're only gonna listen to a snippet of it? You ain't a fucking DJ, so stop acting like one! Let the damn song play. Not letting the song play is not only annoying, it also disrespects the artist who made the song. #4: Trolls on the internet Really fucking annoying. Seriously. Do these people have nothing better to do? I've met so many amazing people who I'm likely never going to see outside of a screen, and on the other hand there are those who have nothing but vitriol in their veins and the sick inclination to throw it out into the world. It's disturbing in its scope. Whether it's in an MMORPG, or a simple flaming comment on an article, Trolls suck. They should be given an IP ban. Enough said. #5: Nosy People I'm a private person by nature, and I hate any and all prying into my business. This includes relatives and family members. I share what I want to share. Nothing less, nothing more. If I think you're worth it, I'll tell you more. If not, I'll stare at you. Unblinkingly. Unceasingly. #6: Two Wheeler Vehicles and their drivers Screw everyone who rides a scooter/motorbike/moped. I hope the vehicles they drive crawl up their ass literally. No two wheeler driver I have ever met has understood the concept of driving rules, space, or even common fucking sense. It's one of my dreams to own a monster truck and drive it over a sea of the aforementioned vehicles, and leave a carpet of corpses in my wake. The only exception to this is bicycle riders: especially kids on bicycles. Those are the most wonderful machines ever invented. When I was a kid, my bicycle was my rocket ship. I think everyone would be better off if they rode a bicycle one a day. (Or a tricycle/unicycle, I'm not judging.) #7: Squeaky Magic Marker The sound they make drives into my skull and makes me want to tear out pieces of my grey matter. I hate them. I hate them. Fuck whoever invented them. Sadistic twats. Shit That Annoys Me in Fanfiction ...this is also gonna be a long list. #1: Spelling, Syntax, Linguistics, Phonology, Morphology In other words, GRAMMAR! That shit is important. I can't even count the number of times I've had to drop a promising-looking story just because the author couldn't be arsed to run a simple spell check. It's fucking irritating, and I refuse to waste my time and my temper on a piece of shite. That said, if an author's first language isn't English, and is trying to improve his writing, I'm all for it. If the story is good, I may even offer to beta their story. But that comes back to my point: every writer, including me, is here to improve. That means taking the time to run a simple spell check. It means taking up people's offers to help you smooth out your language. It means taking all criticism seriously. Unless it's a pointless flame, in which case reply with the suggestion that the flamer's mother is a lady of the night (feel free to use your imagination here) and then ignore him. #2: Abandoned stories. It's the single most annoying thing on this website. Why do authors leave their stories dangling? Why do they undertake a project that they have no intention of finishing? It's fucking bullshit. Sure, real life gets in the way, but the entire point of coming to this site is to get away from real life. I don't understand people who would do that. Literally the only thing that excuses an unfinished story is the premature death of the author. #3: Naruto fics where he hates orange and/or ramen Seriously? As far as I'm concerned, you're writing about an OC. Naruto isn't Naruto if he doesn't like orange and ramen. Downplay it, sure. Emphasize it less, if you want. But keep one of the core parts of his personality true to his character. See, making him dislike orange / ramen doesn't automatically make him more mature. It just makes him a dude who doesn't like a particular colour or a dish; i.e. it makes Naruto boring. That said, if you do decide to change his colour preference, atleast do it properly. The best example I can give you is Shadenight123's "Introverted". Give it a read. #4: OP protagonists What's the point? For the most part, canon in both Harry Potter and Naruto ends in satisfaction, with the Big Evil Meanie dead, and a couple of the supporting cast perfunctorily killed, so as to give the illusion of reality. Why would anyone want to read the same story, but without the pitfalls and trials and tribulations that made the story so appreciable in the first place? Overpowering the protagonist is a very easy way of making the reader lose interest very quickly. It's very hard to do it right. Sure, some people manage to do it wonderfully; some of my own favourites are those with OP characters. It's a very hard balance to get right, but on the rare occasion that the balance is met, the result is awesome. Especially in crack-fics. #5: Cookie Cutter fics We've all read loads of stories on this site. Some of them are true treasure troves. But what I do not like are stories with the same beaten plot, with the same angsty characters, the same tired pointless villainy, the same hopeless dialogue. Man, if you're going to write a story, make it EPIC. That means grabbing the reader's attention from the word GO, and hanging on to their balls as tightly as you can; even if it makes your reader lose a night of sleep, cause them to be caught by their boss at work, or causes them to swear out loud when your story runs out (I've had all three happen to me, and let me tell you: that shit is exhilarating!) So to recap, don't do canon rehashes. They suck balls. Shove what's going to be different about your story in the first couple of chapters, and then start the plot. Make it unique. Make it beautiful. Make it matter. #6: Guest Review Flames There is a special place in hell for you fucking cowards. Hiding behind anonymity on the internet is like hiding behind your mommy's skirts. And then sneaking a peek up said skirt. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you pussies? If you can dish it out, be ready to take it. If you want to unload your shit on the author, have the fucking decency to leave a way for them to unload their shit back at you. Calling someone names behind a pseudonym isn't smart. It's cowardice. #7: Guest Reviewers who ask questions Seriously? How the fuck do you expect author's to reply to you? The chapters are long enough. The Author's Notes are long enough. Replying to guest reviews in a chapter isn't, and shouldn't be, on anyone's agenda. #8: Author's who don't respond to reviews This one is kinda excusable, if you're one of the most popular authors on the site. Getting hundreds of reviews per chapter can get overwhelming. But that said, I have so far responded to EVERY review. And I'm rightly proud of that fact. If you scroll up, you'll see my views on Reviews. Reviews make the fanfiction experience richer, so leave a review if you're a reader, and reply to one if you're an author. (I'll put up more when I can think of them). |
