I don't really consider myself much of a writer but when imagination starts clogging your brain, then to ensure you still have the ability to think you

end up writing the garbage that was taking up most of your mental space, so to keep my sanity intact, I have joined fanfiction in

the almost non-existent hope that I will not end up in a mental asylum.

Thus a writer is born.
