To the many people who have invested their time and faith in me: you each mean the world to me. You take the time to encourage and motivate... but mostly - you take the time to know me.

Health Update: Sept 2012 (This is where you might just want to skip to the story list, lol.)

I know I have been gone, and while I want to tell you that it won't happen again, I simply can't lie to you all that way. I don't know what to expect these days.

I have found that pain does one of two things to me on a normal day, lol:

One: It makes me angry and/or determined enough to write, regardless of how I feel, simply for the distraction that writing can bring. If I could get lost in a world of my own creation, I could escape the pain that clouds my own existence hour after hour, day after day, and week after week until suddenly the months became years. I could (try to) forget about it because in that alternate place I created, I could leave the physical pain out.

Or two: send me straight to bed where not even the house burning to the ground could interest me, lol.

I spent years in that number one slot- finding creative energy and inspiration in the process, and using that to keep me going.

But then the pain amplified, becoming so severe that even sitting in front of the computer angered it, and thought processes roared to a screeching halt.

My pain is hard to control;

And then came the trips to the Dr or ER, for the shots that would give me something nothing else could:

unconsciousness.

Because sometimes pain can get so severe that unconsciousness is the best option, and life is put on the back burner, because the human body can only tolerate so much.

And this is where I have been spending most of my time, not because I want to, but because it has become necessary from time to time.

And when my pain lessens enough that I can function, I scramble to the computer to write while I can muster the strength, and hope that I can at least structure enough together for a readable drabble before the cycle starts all over again.

I am seeing a new specialist and have undergone 2 surgical procedures so far with at least 2 more coming: one next week and another the week after. There will possibly be more, though I prefer not to get too far ahead of myself. Knowing what is going to happen and why over the next few weeks is enough, and I can only pray that the procedures will help reduce the severity of my pain.

Unfortunately, though, given my many conditions and their ongoing degeneration, the Dr. has recently informed me that I will be dealing with this pain until the day that I die- there is simply nothing that can be done aside from trying to ease what pain we can through what temporary procedures I am willing to try.

I am trying, and while I hate this, I can't help but think of those who are so much worse off than I am, and thank the Lord that I still have the ability to try, and that there are still options available to me. While most are unlikely to help, and still others are only short term options, they are still options, nonetheless.

There are people out there that don't have any options. There are those out there that hurt more severely than any of us could possibly imagine, and still more who have far less than even those of us who have very little.

It is those people we should pray for. It is those souls who need the comfort of a kind word or the gentleness of a helping hand, and I would simply ask that those of you out there who offer a prayer for me, please- pray for those other souls, too. For those who need so much more than I, and for those whose health conditions make mine look like a drop of water in a sea of chaos. Offer a prayer for those who don't have someone looking out for them, and for those who prefer to suffer silently, preferring instead to keep their troubles from those who would worry over them.

Pray for them, as I do. And thank those around you who care, because a gentle word or a gentle touch is often all that is needed when the rest of the world seems to cave in around you.

I thank you- all of you: for your prayers, and your kindness.

And for the ability to write for you when I need that place to escape to.

I want to let you all know that I am scheduled for my second brain surgery on July 19 2013. While I expect this will knock me down for at least a few months, I will still do my very best to get something posted so that I can give you all an update as to my condition.

I will not, however, let this keep me from my writing for long...I WILL write again, just as soon as it becomes tolerable for me to do so.

I have changed the story title, taken some away, and added to her original idea. I also added one of my own forgotten chapters to the mix.

Her version can be found in Scraps and Snippets ( Chapter 2 : Island Getaway- bar scene ). I loved the humor and idea she had with this chapter. I asked her if I could use it.

She has graciously, and courageously, '' given me permission to give this chapter a home, and to create whatever story I can with it.''

I hope I do this in a way that she will find enjoyable, and I hope you all will like it as well.
